Analysis of Epidemiological surveillance results of Epidemic Cerebrospinal Meningitis in Dalian from 1996 to 2010

Objective To find out the epidemiological characteristic of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis in Dalian,provide scientific references for controlling the epidemic of cerebrospinal meningitis.Methods Data of Dalian Epidemic Prevention Station,epidemiological investigation and laboratory testing of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis cases in Dalian CDC were analyzed.Results There were 162 cases reported from 1996 to 2010,the yearly average incidence rate was 0.19/100 000,the yearly average mortality rate was 0.03/100 000.Cases were reported most in the national monitoring point Ganjingzi,up to 33;the largest number of incidence was reported in 15-year-old age group（57 cases）;the case number was highest（60 cases） most among students and the scattered living children.19 strains of Nm serogroup A were detected in throat swabs from close contacts;8 strains of Nm serogroup B were detected from healthy carriers;from 2001 to 2005,the average antibody positive rate was 80.79%from healthy carriers,87.75%（serogroup A） and 70.68%（serogroup C ） from 2006 to 2010.Conclusion At present,the morbidity rate of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis was low in Dalian.Nm serogroup A epidemic is still mainly,and there have been cases caused by Nm serogroup B.Cases in younger age group were reported highest,while migration trend to older age group has appeared.Nm serogroup B was the main strain detected in healthy carriers,and the antibody positive rate of Nm serogroup C was lower than Nm serogroup A.
