Abstract:The cause of crackles of the desorber (C-403/2) is analyzed. There are three reasons. Firstly, the high content of Sulfur (S) and Phosphorus (P) in the steel where by heavily debases the capability of erosion-resistant; secondly, the high-temperature sulfides, that accelerate the erosion; thirdly, the effect of stress-erosion. A countermeasure has been put forward according to the specific condition, which are a new tower built later. A reasonable controlling measure has been put forward, which assures that the manufacture and installation of the new tower meet the technological specification and prevent the occurrence of the similar situation.
