Abstract:The present situation of oil and gas consumption and construction status of pipelines in China were introduced, development and application of pipeline steel X80 at home and abroad were discussed. In the meantime, corrosion research status of the pipeline steel X80 was investigated. Effect of different pH values of soil on corrosion of pipeline steel X80 was introduced as well effect of corrosion product passive film on corrosion behavior and corrosion process. The resistance performances to sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC) behavior and hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) behavior of pipeline steel X80 were presented. The results show that the heat-affected zone (HAZ) shows poor property of resisting stress corrosion cracking due to its high hardness and coarse grained microstructure. The SSCC resistance of the thin wall steel tube is higher than that of the thick wall tube. The hydrogen-induced additive stress which can help the external stress to enhance the plastic deformation results in loss of material toughness and material fracture.
