Arsenic in coastal waters of South Australia

Surface seawater samples from South Australian coastal locations were analysed for dissolved inorganic arsenic As(III) + As(V)], arsenite As(III)] and particulate arsenic.Dissolved inorganic arsenic concentrations ranged from 1.10 to 1.61 μg As l^?1 (average 1.3 ± 0.1 μg As l^?1) with 1.2–4.3% (average 2.7%) present as arsenite. Particulate arsenic concentrations were below the limit of detection (0.0006 μg As l^?1) at most sampling stations.
