Abstract:
This paper introduces the themes developed through the discussions and publications prepared with IFIP TC3 Taskforce on Lifelong Learning developing the proposition that lifelong learning really matters for elementary education in the 21st century. The paper explores the quest for a definition of lifelong learning, the recognition of the changing role of informal learning communities, proposing public policy considerations for those responsible for elementary education and the further develop of information and communications technology.
