| Abstract: | The research of metaphor in English idiom has very important practical values. This paper mainly discusses the definition and nature of metaphor in English idiom, stage of its development, and metaphorical cognitive approach, and it also analyzes the difficulties and methods in translation for the purpose of improving our cognitive and appreciative abilities and communication skills. |
