Along with the increasing attention on climate warming and environmental protection in the world,China has also taken a tougher environmental protection policy.China petroleum and chemical industry is one of the key industries which insist on developing low carbon strategy.Therefore,multinational oil and chemical corporations must adapt themselves to the low carbon environmental protection requirements of China,adjust the target of low carbon development strategy timely,and seek the strategy which could fit into China’s economic growth.This is the only way to seize market opportunities and obtain greater benefits during the development.Multinational corporations also can use their own competitive advantages to support the implementation of low carbon strategy,adopt more low carbon technologies,produce more new products of energy-efficiency and emission reduction,and invest more in innovation and research & development funding.During the procedure of adjusting low carbon strategy,multinational oil and chemical corporations had some good practices and accumulated certain experiences.They attached great importance to developing targets of long-term low carbon strategy,launched low carbon industrial development cooperation with the Chinese companies,helped the downstream customers by upgrading the level of environmental protection technology,and strengthened environmental protection responsibility of theirs.China should take the following measures on low carbon development of multinational corporations: Establish the low carbon development policy for multinational corporations;Strengthen the fair and effective supervision;Support multinational corporations to transfer their advanced low carbon technologies to domestic enterprises;Define the low carbon development brand scientifically;Set up the threshold of foreign investment carbon emission as soon as possible;Promote low carbon technology and the adjustment of the import tariff of the low carbon related products.
