Abstract:Indocalamus tessellatus polysac- charides (ITPS) were extracted from the dry bamboo leaves of Indocalamus tessellatus with 85% ethanol (FE), 95℃ water (FⅠ), 5% NaOH (FⅢ-1, FⅢ-2) and 20% NaOH (FⅣ). Effects of these ITPS on liver of 6% CCl4 oil solution 10 mL·kg-1-treated mice were studied. Various fractions of ITPS 80 mg·kg-1 ip respectively, once a day for 7 d significantly inhibited the MDA formation in hepatic mitochodrion and microsome, decreased the microviscosity of hepatic mitochodrial membrane and increased the SOD activity of liver. These results suggest that ITPS are protective against CCl4-induced liver damage.
