Abstract: | The authors outline how the National Grid Company, formed out of the CEGB, has chosen a fully decentralised management system in order to fashion an efficient, flexible and viable `plc'. They list the businesses of the new company and explain how the new management systems evolved. Observations are made on the problems encountered in introducing a decentralised electronic management system as well as some of the clear benefits, with cameos of those aspects relating to the financial and procurement activities |
