Target Tracking Algorithm Based on Mutual Information and Adaptive Template Update

Image tracking algorithm based on normalized mutual information,which has good stability when the target is rotated,occluded or the illumination condition is changed.However,in a practical tracking system,algorithm is also required to adapt to change in the appearance of moving objects in real-time.With this in mind,on the basis of the research of normalized mutual information tracking algorithm,a new adaptive template size update strategy was introduced in this paper.The strategy is the measure based on information of multi-scale image in scale space.Experimental results demonstrate that the template can be modified adaptively when the target size is changed.And stability and adaptability of the improved tracking algorithm has greatly improved
