Analysis and Proposals on Rail Type Selection for Urban Rail Transit

Based on the progress in rail manufacturing technology and the newest achievements in track research and design, this paper studies the selection of cut-length, quality and materials of rails for urban rail transit, and suggests that multiple factors should be considered, such as different line arrangements, vehicle and loads, rail transportation, construction and maintenance condition of trackwork, construction period, investment and maintenance costs, so as to make sure that rail type selection in urban rail transit can satisfy the requirements on safety, reliability, applicability, economy and pertinence.
