Research Development in Acupuncture Therapy for Vascular Cognitive Impairment

The concept of vascular cognitive impairment （VCI） emphasizes on cases of mild cognitive impairment that have not yet met the diagnostic requirements of dementia. Here summarizes the evolution of the concept of VCI and current treatment plans, showing its significance in the prevention and cure of demen- tia. The Chinese medicine acupuncture therapy is an important intervention to VCI, and the etiology, patho- genesis,and selection of meridians and acupuncture points are described. Current laboratory and clinical research conducted on acupuncture therapy for VCI is also reviewed,as well as the potential for future research.
