Abstract:In all these flashover accidents,the reason that caused by ice accumulation covered a large proportion.How to effectively reduce the forming of ice on roof insulator used in electric locomotive and improve the flashover characteristic of icing insulator,has became a serious problem that urgently needs tobe addressed in electric railway in North China.In connection with actual situation of the ice coating flashover on roof insulator,we adopted the design of combination insulator that partial surface was covered with semi-conducting glaze.Electric field around the insulator surface with changing of the position and length of semi-conducting glaze was calculated by finite element method.In the end,the optimization coating design of the semi-conducting glaze was given and coated on the roof insulator surface.
