Abstract:Functional nano-silica sol was prepared using tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and formic acid as raw materials and silane coupling agent KH-570 as the modifier. The reaction extent was studied by UV-Visible spectrophotometer(UV). The influence of formic acid concentration ,reaction temperature ,and the dosage of water,alcohol co-solvent and silane coupling agent KH-570 was investigated. The products were characterized by IR. The results showed that sol-gel reaction rate was enhanced with the increase of formic acid concentration and reaction temperature, and the addition of the water, and the gelation time was shortened; alcohol co-solvent and silane coupling agent KH-570 exhibited stabilization for sol-gel reaction system and prolonged the gelation time. IR results indicated that some composite materials could be prepared by introducing carbonyl to the product.
