Evaluation of the Methods to Produce Metal Parts by RPM

This paper introduces and compares the characteristics of some typical kinds ofrapid prototyping manufacturing (RPM), andevaluates the possible ways to produce metalparts by RPM and analyzes the problems to besolved. The best way to produce metal parts byusing all kinds of rapid prototypes has been elucidated. lt is pointed out that the best method ofconverting the rapid prototypes into metal partsis that combining rapid prototyping technologywith new casting technology. After the RPMbeing completed, it is imperative to study newcasting tech11iques and materials suitable to allkinds of RPM, and to cast quickly metal parts.
