Due to increasing safety concerns regarding human consumption of fish products, an increasing number of medicinal chemicals are prohibited from use in aquaculture. As a result, Chinese herbal medicines are being increasingly used, coining the use of the term “green medicine.” Research shows that Chinese herbal medicines have many beneficial effects on fish, including growth promotion, enhancement of disease resistance, and improvement in meat quality. Many effective ingredients have been discovered in Chinese herbal medicines, which function to promote feed intake, improve meat flavor, and increase digestive enzyme activity. They also regulate and participate in processes that improve the specific and non-specific immunity of fish; however, the composition of Chinese herbal medicines is very complex and it is often difficult to identify the effective ingredients. This article reviews the latest research and application progress in Chinese herbal medicines regarding growth and feed utilization, immunity and disease resistance, and the meat quality of cultured fish. It also discusses research on the chemical constituents of classical Chinese medicinal herbs and problems with the application of Chinese herbal medicines in fish culture. This article concludes by proposing that future studies on Chinese herbal medicines should focus on how to cheaply refine and extract the effective ingredients in classical Chinese medicinal herbs, as well as how to use them efficiently in aquaculture.  相似文献

A Bayesian inference method was employed to quantify uncertainty in an Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) model. A deterministic model was reformulated as a Bayesian Hierarchical Model (BHM) with uncertainty in the parameters accounted for using “prior” distributions and unresolved time varying processes modelled using auto-regressive processes. Observations of kelp grown in 3 seeding densities around salmon pens were assimilated using a Sequential Monte Carlo method implemented within the LibBi package. This resulted in a considerable reduction in the variability in model output for both the observed and unobserved state variables. A reduction in variance between the prior and posterior was observed for a subset of model parameters which varied with seeding density. Kullback–Liebler (KL) divergence method showed the reduction in variability of the state and parameters was approximately 90%. A low to medium seeding density results in the most efficient removal of excess nutrients in this simple system.  相似文献

Commercial aquaculture feeds rely heavily on fishmeal and fish oil, which can be expensive and ecologically unsustainable. To evaluate the efficacy of reduced fishmeal diets for outgrowth, a dietary study was conducted on the finfish cobia, Rachycentron canadum. NMR-based metabolomic techniques were used to assess the effect of decreasing dietary fishmeal on the health of the cobia. Filtered serum 1H NMR spectra analysed by principal components analysis (PCA) showed cobia fed reduced fishmeal diets were metabolically different than cobia on control diets. In particular, tyrosine and betaine increased in cobia fed reduced fishmeal diets while glucose decreased, suggesting that these cobia were not receiving the necessary nutritional components required for energy and growth. The formulated control diet contributed to enriched growth and significantly elevated lactate levels suggesting enhanced gut microflora metabolism in response to dietary components. The results show that NMR-based metabolomic analysis is a useful tool in aquaculture studies.  相似文献

Economically and culturally important salmonid species often compete with Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) released from stocking programs or that escaped during aquaculture production. Such competitive interactions may lower the individual fitness of these species by reducing survival and body growth. Here, we exposed juvenile brown trout (S. trutta), rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), Chinook salmon (O. tshawytscha), and coho salmon (O. kisutch) to juvenile Atlantic salmon in artificial streams for 10 months. Survival and fitness-related traits of the four species were not negatively impacted by the presence of Atlantic salmon. The results suggest that brown trout and rainbow trout have better competitive abilities than Atlantic salmon, and that Chinook salmon and coho salmon have limited competitive interactions with Atlantic salmon. Although we discuss certain environmental conditions that can favor Atlantic salmon as a competitor at the juvenile life stage, Atlantic salmon may have little impact on the productivity of these four species.  相似文献

The application of slurry ice, a binary mixture of small spherical ice crystals surrounded by seawater at subzero temperature, is a potentially new preservation method for farmed turbot (Psetta maxima), a flat fish species of increasing commercial interest. Comparative biochemical, microbiological and sensory analyses were carried on turbot specimens stored in either slurry ice or flake ice for up to 40 days. The results obtained in the sensory analysis correlated well with the observed chemical and microbial changes. Storage of turbot in slurry ice resulted in a slowing-down of the nucleotide degradation pathway and lipid oxidation mechanisms. A good stabilisation of the high molecular weight protein fraction of turbot muscle was also achieved as a consequence of storage in slurry ice. A slower production of both trimethylamine and total volatile bases was also observed. Likewise, low levels of total aerobes, anaerobes, coliforms, and proteolytic bacteria were attained. The application of slurry ice to farmed turbot is advisable to achieve better quality maintenance during storage and distribution.  相似文献

World landings of fish and shellfish are approaching 100 million metric tons (MMT) annually. Of this total, around 28% is processed into fish meal and oil. Economic pressures due to poor landings, low prices in traditional markets and high fuel costs have forced the industry to seek new markets and products that can take advantage of the unique properties of fish proteins and oils. Fish meal processing continues to evolve. Fresh raw materials and new, low-temperature processing techniques lead to products with excellent nutritional value. These new, special meals are finding uses in feeding farmed fish, early-weaned pigs, ruminants and pets. Fish oils, whether present as fat in the fish meal or as separated oil, are rich in ω3 fatty acids. When fed to food animals, these ω3 fatty acids deposit in the meat and depot fat. Concepts for poultry with an equivalent amount of ω3 fatty acids to lean fish are being developed. Eggs with a high ω3 fatty acid content and good functionality and flavor are under evaluation. Catfish with shelf-stable flavors and high ω3 fatty acids are also under study. ω3 Fatty acids may affect the immune function of livestock. Future research will evaluate the overall immune function of animals, including resistance to disease, survival under stress and hatchability.  相似文献

Chemical composition, nutritional value and other physico-chemical parameters of sea bass from two different geographical areas (Greece and Spain) and from aquaculture and wild origin were studied. Farmed and wild fish differ in proximate composition, colour, and especially in texture, fatty acids and free amino acids (FAAs) profiles. Flesh of wild fish was firmer, which could be attributed to their lower fat content and higher level of activity. Cultured fish showed a higher content of monounsaturated fatty acids and lower of saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). Within the PUFA group, n−3 fatty acids were predominant in wild sea bass, while n−6 were more abundant in farmed fish. Some FAAs related to the characteristic flavour of fish, such as glutamic acid, aspartic acid, alanine, and glycine were more abundant in cultured sea bass. No differences between fish from both farms were found, due to the similar composition of the feed used.  相似文献

针对海上养殖网箱人工巡检的成本高、风险大的问题,以海上河鲀养殖网箱监测为应用背景,提出了一种无人化网箱巡检的新方法,该方法利用无人机俯视观测法,并结合日常网箱养殖状态信息,可高效地完成基础养殖数据采集任务。在无人机拍摄的视频数据基础上,提取关键帧,利用卷积神经网络HED(Holistically-nested edge detection )进行边缘检测作为图像预处理,起到降低图像冗余信息,得到清晰网箱边缘信息的作用,在此基础上将边缘图二值化并提取目标区域,提出了相应的自适应阈值选取规则,最后根据改进的Tamura纹理特征对网箱养殖区进行数据有效性的判断。该方法结合深度学习方法与传统图像检测技术,具有较强的环境自适应性和较高的准确性。最终以大连天正实业有限公司大李家红鳍东方鲀养殖场的养殖网箱作为实验对象,海上河豚养殖网箱提取的准确度为97%,信息的有效性判断准确度为97.1。  相似文献
