Clathrate compounds are crystalline materials formed by a physical interaction between host and relatively light guest molecules.
Various types of nano-sized cages surrounded by host frameworks exist in the highly unique crystalline structures and free
guest molecules are entrapped in an open host-guest network. Recently, we reported two peculiar phenomena, swapping and tuning,
naturally occurring in the hydrate cages. Helium, one of the smallest light guest molecules, must be the challengeable material
in the sense of physics and moreover possesses versatile applications in the field of superconductivity technology and thermonuclear
industry. In this regard, we attempted for the first time to synthesize helium hydrates at moderate temperature and pressure
conditions. According to inclusion phenomena, helium itself normally cannot form clathrate hydrates due to being too small
molecularly without the help of hydrate former molecules (sI, sII, and sH formers). In this study, the hydrate equilibria
of the binary clathrate hydrate containing tetrahydrofuran, helium, and water were determined at 2, 3, 5.56 THF mol%. Direct
volumetric measurements were also carried out to confirm the exact amount of helium captured in the hydrate cages. Finally,
the crystalline structure of the formed mixed hydrates was identified by powder X-ray diffraction, resulting in structure

A hybrid ab initio path integral molecular dynamics/bosonic path integral Monte Carlo simulation method has been developed, implemented and tested, which allows for the reactive simulations of molecules, clusters or complexes solvated by superfluid 4He. The simulation takes into account “on-the-fly” the electronic structure and thus the chemical reactivity of the solutes, in conjunction with the Bose–Einstein statistics, and thus the superfluid character of this peculiar solvent. This enables investigations into cryochemical reactions taking place in helium nanodroplets, such as those used in helium nanodroplet isolation (HENDI) spectroscopy. 相似文献

氦气是一种广泛应用于军工、航天、医疗等高新技术产业的稀缺战略资源,但其在世界分布极其不均,中国是贫氦国家面临着严峻的氦气供给安全问题。在系统总结前人研究成果基础上,结合本次实验分析对比了世界上最成熟的氦气生产气田(美国潘汉德—胡果顿气田)与中国氦气生产潜力较大的东坪气田,探讨两者的成藏要素及富氦机理。结果发现:两者均是以天然气作为载体气的基岩型富氦气藏,储层物性好,均发育以膏岩为主的低渗致密的良好盖层。两者的差异性在于,前者花岗岩形成年代更为古老,尤其是碳酸盐岩地层中富含的花岗岩碎屑,其年龄集中在元古宙,平均比东坪气田花岗岩的形成年代早400 Ma;前者氦气运移模式偏向于单一的饱和地下水脱溶释放,而后者存在“过路”古老花岗岩储层的天然气“萃取”释放。两者对比之下,提出形成年代久远的高U、Th氦源岩、充足的载体气、良好的基岩风化壳储层与致密的盖层,和充足的地下水(边底水)作为媒介参与氦气运移,是形成基岩型富氦气藏的必要条件。 相似文献

This paper reports on the development of a novel freeform fabrication technique using a cold spray (CS) system. In the CS process, metallic powder particles are accelerated in a supersonic gas jet and impacted with a substrate at speeds in excess of 600 m/s. The non-melting nature of its deposition mechanism ensures that the sprayed material is free from thermally induced tensile stresses, while the underlying substrate remains unchanged. The process is seen as a viable method for additive manufacturing because of its high deposition rates and controllable spray jet. A process was developed to investigate the potential of non-thermal freeform fabrication and was coined Cold Gas Dynamic Manufacturing (CGDM). Here, additive and subtractive techniques were combined to enable the production of complex geometries. Whereas most CS facilities concentrate on the application of wear or corrosion-resistant coatings, CGDM is dedicated to the production of freeform components, whilst still retaining an inherent coating ability. The process can produce functional forms using novel manufacturing strategies that are unique to CS. This paper presents information on the process, and details the various strategies employed during component fabrication. It was possible to construct components from many materials, including titanium, which exhibited freeform surfaces, internal channels and embedded devices. A sub Kelvin Active Magnetic Regenerative Refrigerator (AMRR) is being developed at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. This AMRR consists of two circulators, two regenerators, one superleak, one cold heat exchanger, and two warm heat exchangers. The circulators are novel non-moving part pumps that reciprocate a superfluid mixture of 4He–3He in the system. Heat from the mixture is removed within the two regenerators of this tandem system. An accurate model of the regenerators in this AMRR is necessary in order to predict the performance of these components, which in turn helps predicting the overall performance of the AMRR system. This work presents modeling methodology along with results from a 1-D transient numerical model of the regenerators of an AMRR capable of removing 2.5 mW at 850 mK at cyclic steady state. 相似文献

The effect on the selection of different plasma chemistries for simulating a typical dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) driven by quasi-pulsed power source (20 kHz) is investigated. The numerical simulation was performed by using the one-dimensional self-consistent fluid modeling solver. Our simulation result indicates that the computed temporal current density can be significantly improved by using a complex version of plasma chemistry module rather than the simple one and demonstrates an excellent agreement with the experimental data. The result suggests the metastable, excited and ionic helium related reaction channels, which are important in simulating a DBD, should be taken into account. Furthermore, it also reveals that the power absorption of ions is considerably higher than that of the electron. 相似文献

A new method for white beam position monitoring for both bend magnet and wiggler synchrotron X-ray radiation has been developed. This method utilizes visible light luminescence generated as a result of ionization by the intense X-ray flux. In video beam position monitors (VBPMs), the luminescence of helium gas at atmospheric pressure is observed through a view port using a CCD camera next to the beam line. The beam position, profile, integrated intensity and FWHM are calculated from the distribution of luminescence intensity in each captured image by custom software. Misalignment of upstream apertures changes the image profile making VBPMs helpful for initial alignment of upstream beam line components. VBPMs can thus provide more information about the X-ray beam than most beam position monitors (BPMs). A beam position calibration procedure, employing a tilted plane-parallel glass plate placed in front of the camera lens, has also been developed. The accuracy of the VBPM system was measured during a bench-top experiment to be better than 1 μm. The He-luminescence-based VBPM system has been operative on three CHESS beam lines (F hard-bend and wiggler, A-line wiggler and G-line wiggler) for about a year. The beam positions are converted to analog voltages and used as feedback signals for beam stabilization. In our paper we discuss details of VBPM construction and describe further results of its performance. 相似文献
