This paper evaluates the behavior and performance of laminated circular elastomeric bearings and compares them to those of square and rectangular bearings. The study included an experimental evaluation and a nationwide survey of state Department of Transportations on the use and performance of circular bearings and bearings in general in their states. The experimental investigation studied the bearings' behavior in compression, compression and rotation, and compression and shear. Results from this limited study showed that the three bearings have similar stress-strain behavior in compression and they are in agreement with the AASHTO LRFD guide stress–strain curves. In compression and rotation, the AASHTO LRFD substructure moments are slightly less than the measured values for circular bearings and rectangular bearings rotated about their strong axis for a compressive stress of 10.3?MPa (1.5?ksi) and slightly higher than those of rectangular bearings rotated about their weak axis. In compression and shear, the shear stiffness of circular and square bearings is in agreement with theoretical values within the range of design displacements. Results from the survey showed that many states are using circular bearings and more states would consider using them, however no maintenance or monitoring data were available on their short-term and long-term performance.  相似文献

In-situ composites based on dispersed poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) or polyamide (PA),and continuous Polyethylene (PE) were prepared through a single screw extruder of Haake rheometer system with a rod-die relatively small in diameter.The extrudate was drawn at a drawing ratio of 3.1,and then quickly cooled in cold water.The specimens were obtained by injection molding at processing temperatures less than 190℃,far below the melting temperature of PET (265℃) and PA (230℃),which can maintain the solid state of PET and PA microfiber phase in the composites.Morphological observation with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) indicated that PET and PA can more or less form in-situ microfibers at compositions studied (0-20 wt pct PET or PA),and especially,PET and PA were almost deformed into fibers at the concentration of 15wt pct.Eensile strength and especially.PET and PA were almost deformed into fibers at the concentration of 15wt pct.Tensile strength and modulus of the blends reinforced by PET or PA microfibers showed to be increased from the tensile test results.The most noticeable improvement of the tensile properties occurred at 15wt pct of PET in PET/PE system,corresponding to the highest microfiber content,where the tensile strength reached 32.5 MPa,whereas only 19.5 MPa for the pure PE.  相似文献

The force needed to pull a cylindrical stud from a soft elastomeric film depends on their elastic and geometric properties. For a rigid stud and a thick elastomeric film, the pull-off stress (σ) depends on the elastic modulus (E) of the film and the radius (a) of the stud as σ ∼ (E/a)1/2 (soft adhesion). However, when the film is very thin, the pull-off stress is significantly higher than the case with thick films, and its value depends on the elastic modulus and the thickness (h) of the film as σ ∼ (E/h)1/2 (hard adhesion). Here, we study the pull-off behavior of a soft cylindrical stud, one flat end of which is coated with a high modulus thin baseplate. As the flexural rigidity of this baseplate is varied, we observe the transition between the two types of adhesion. We present a simple physical interpretation of the problem, which could be of value in understanding various biofouling and adhesive situations.  相似文献

通过力学性能测定、热失重、原子力显微镜等方法研究了平均粒径为100min的丁苯吡弹性纳米粒子增韧的环氧树脂的性能。结果表明,在一定范围内,纳米丁苯吡可在环氧树脂中达到纳米级分散,能明显增韧环氧树脂,同时还可提高其耐热性,用量控制在10—15份时增韧效果最好。当其用量大于25份时,由于共混体系的粘度变大,纳米粒子易于结团成束,导致增韧效果减弱。固化条件也对增韧效果有较大影响,较好的固化条件为120℃预固化1h,140℃后固化12h。  相似文献

The polyamide-6/attapulgite nanocomposites were prepared via an in situ polymerization route with attapulgites pre-modified with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and toluene-2,4-diisocyanate (TDI). Morphology observation showed that the exfoliated attapulgite fibers were well dispersed in the polyamide-6 matrix on a nanometer scale and formed a percolation network structure. The rheological behaviors of such polymer/fibrous clay nanocompostie samples were investigated by an ARES rheometer with parallel plate geometry. The storage moduli (G′), loss moduli (G″), and dynamic viscosities of these samples increased monotonically with attapulgite content at low frequencies. The presence of attapulgites caused these nanocomposite melts to have solid-like behaviors and slower relaxation. This behavior can be explained in terms of the development of a grafting-percolated fibrous-silicate network structure. Monte Carlo simulations were performed to determine the critical threshold for attapulgites fibers in 3D. The calculated critical threshold from simulations fitted the results of our rheological experiments very well.  相似文献
