Conclusions 1. The very simple mathematical models for controlling auxiliary blood circulation are efficient, and automatic-control systems
based on these models are capable of maintaining the fundamental hemodynamic parameters of a blood-circulation system during
a cardiac deficiency.
2. The system offers a doctor the choice of two alternate control facilities for auxiliary blood circulation. The first of
these is based on the maintenance of normal or somewhat lowered blood pressure in the aorta under conditions of a myocardial
deficiency. The other method provides for a specified “unloading of the flow in the left ventricle,” i.e., a specified reduction
of the blood flow through the lefthand ventricle of the natural heart. In both cases the proposed system of control ensures
stable functional parameters for the blood circulation.

Summary Experiments were staged on 5 dogs. A study was made of the effect produced by mechanical stimulation of the brain by the pressure of 1 to 6 mm Hg on the cardiac activity regulation. Shifts in the rate of cardiac contractions were noted. The value and the nature of the changes depended on the initial rhythm of cardiac activity. Changes of the conditioned reflex reactions of the heart were noted. The localization of the cerebral area to be stimulated was also of significance. All the changes are explained as being the results of the inhibition process developed at the site of mechanical stimulation.Presented by Active Member AMN SSSR S. V.
