Ti, TiC, Al and AlN powders were mixed to synthesize Ti2Al(CxNy) (x + y < 1) solid solutions, Ti2AlCx (x < 1) and Ti2AlN‐related end‐members by hot isostatic pressing at 1400°C/80 MPa for 4 h. For the pure carbides, it is demonstrated that single‐phased samples can only be obtained when about 15% of substoichiometry on the carbon site is applied. Such a result likely implies that Ti2AlCx can only exist in a narrow range of carbon composition. Ti2AlN nitride can be synthesized with y = 1. Assuming that vacancy content varies linearly from 0 to 0.15 going from Ti2AlN to Ti2AlC0.85 in the solid solutions, element concentrations have been calculated to synthesize different solid solutions. Thus, it is demonstrated that single‐phased and fully dense Ti2Al(C0.23N0.71), Ti2Al(C0.45N0.45), and Ti2Al(C0.66N0.22) carbonitrides can be synthesized.  相似文献

Sulphonated anthraquinones are known to be recalcitrant to biodegradation and are not eliminated by traditional wastewater treatment plants, leading to their accumulation in fresh water. Due to the high cost and limited efficiency of existing physical-chemical treatments, alternative cheaper processes are required to remove these compounds from industrial effluents. Four plant species were tested under hydroponic conditions for their ability to treat model effluents contaminated with mono- and disulphonated anthraquinones. Among them, Rheum rabarbarum (rhubarb) showed the most promising results and was chosen for further investigation. The apparent transpiration stream concentration factor obtained with this plant species reached up to 2.5, indicating a strong phytotreatment potential that should be further explored then exploited.  相似文献

Coliform bacteria have long been used to indicate fecal contamination of water and thus a health hazard. In this study, the in-mill water and external effluent treatment systems of seven typical Canadian pulp and paper mills were all shown to support the growth of numerous coliforms, especially Klebsiella Spp., Escherichia coli. Enterobacter spp., and Citrobacter spp. In all mills and most sampled locations, klebsiellas were the predominant coliforms. Although all but one of the mills had no sewage input and most disinfected their feed (input) water, all contained the most typical fecal indicator bacterium, E. coli. Many of the mill coliforms were classified as fecal coliforms by standard "MPN" and metabolic tests, but this was shown to be due to their thermotolerance, not their origin. Mill coliforms were shown not to be just simple transients from feedwater or furnish (wood), but to be continuously growing, especially in some of the primary clarifiers. Isolated mill coliforms grew very well on a sterilized raw combined mill effluent. The fecal streptococci (enterococci), alternative indicators of fecal health hazards, were common in all mills in the absence of sewage. Ten strains of E. coli isolated from four mills were all shown to be non-toxigenic strains of harmless serotypes. No salmonellas were found. Therefore, the use of total coliform, fecal coliform, enterococci, or E. coli counts as indicators of fecal contamination, and thus of health hazard in pulp and paper mill effluents or biosolids (sludges) known to be free of fecal input is invalid.  相似文献

The bacterial contamination from bathers in the water and sand at a beach was investigated. Measurements were made of the composition of the cutaneous bacterial flora released by two bathers as well as the sensitivity of the main contaminants to solar radiation. The variations in bacterial concentration of the sea water and sand were determined at the sea shore over three complete day cycles. Broadly speaking, the concentration of some bacteria increases with the frequency with which the beach is used. Nevertheless, short-period variations seem to be masked by the opposing effects of solar radiation and bathers.  相似文献

Fusarium graminearum is the causal agent of Fusarium head blight (FHB) and Gibberella ear rot (GER), two devastating diseases of wheat, barley, and maize. Furthermore, F. graminearum species can produce type B trichothecene mycotoxins that accumulate in grains. Use of FHB and GER resistant cultivars is one of the most promising strategies to reduce damage induced by F. graminearum. Combined with genetic approaches, metabolomic ones can provide powerful opportunities for plant breeding through the identification of resistant biomarker metabolites which have the advantage of integrating the genetic background and the influence of the environment. In the past decade, several metabolomics attempts have been made to decipher the chemical defense that cereals employ to counteract F. graminearum. By covering the major classes of metabolites that have been highlighted and addressing their potential role, this review demonstrates the complex and integrated network of events that cereals can orchestrate to resist to F. graminearum.  相似文献

A general model is proposed in order to describe the growth of a deposit by heterogeneous reactions. The hydrodynamics in the fluid is described by a multicomponent transport model for ionic species diluted in a solvent and heat transfer is taken into account in both liquid and solid domains. The boundary condition at the interface where the reaction takes place is described thoroughly. It involves the reaction kinetics and gives access to the velocity of the interface, ie, the mass rate of the solid deposit. The model is then applied to the case of barite crystallization in a heat exchanger. The liquid phase is therefore composed of two ionic species Ba2+ and SO42− diluted in water. The solid phase is modelled as a homogeneous barite deposit. The fully dynamic CFD simulation of the model is made using Comsol Multiphysics, in a cylindrical pipe. The solid growth is analyzed over time and space in terms of the relevant variables of the model.  相似文献

The sociodemographic diversity of residential customers can affect the level of financial risk that an electricity provider experiences in the retail market. To demonstrate the relationship between sociodemographic diversity and financial risk, electricity consumption data drawn from the United Kingdom Power Networks ‘Low Carbon London’ project was analyzed to explore the relationship between sociodemographic diversity and financial risk experienced by electricity retailers. The results show that when increasing the sociodemographic diversity amongst a group of residential customers the effect on financial risk depends on the electricity consumption patterns of individual customers and the relationship of consumption patterns between residential customers. Increasing sociodemographic diversity amongst residential customers with very distinct energy consumption patterns can decrease the overall financial risk associated with the aggregated revenue received from these customers. However, the results showed that adding customers to a customer base without consideration for their sociodemographic background can cause the overall financial risk associated with the aggregated revenue received to change erratically. Whilst previous studies have considered customer diversity and its influence on peak electricity demand, this research advances the state-of-the-art by showing the importance of customer diversity to the financial quantity risk experienced by electricity retailers. This finding has serious implications for electricity providers seeking to mitigate financial risk in the retail electricity market.  相似文献
