Blockchain possesses the potential of transforming global supply chain management. Gartner predicts that blockchain could be able to track $2?T of goods and services in their movement across the globe by 2023, and blockchain will be a more than $3 trillion business by 2030. Nowadays, a growing number of blockchain initiatives are disrupting traditional business models in each sector. In this paper, we provide a timely and holistic overview of the state-of-the-art, challenges, gaps and opportunities in global supply chain and trade operations for both the private sector and governmental agencies, by synthesising a wide range of resources from business leaders, global international organisations, leading supply chain consulting firms, research articles, trade magazines and conferences. We then identify collaborative schema and future research directions for industry, government, and academia to jointly work together in ensuring that the full potential of blockchain is unleashed amidst the socioeconomic, geopolitical and technological disruptions that global supply chains and trade are facing.  相似文献

Exposure of Arabidopsis thaliana young and mature leaves to the herbicide paraquat (Pq) resulted in a localized increase of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in the leaf veins and the neighboring mesophyll cells, but this increase was not similar in the two leaf types. Increased H2O2 production was concomitant with closed reaction centers (qP). Thirty min after Pq exposure despite the induction of the photoprotective mechanism of non-photochemical quenching (NPQ) in mature leaves, H2O2 production was lower in young leaves mainly due to the higher increase activity of ascorbate peroxidase (APX). Later, 60 min after Pq exposure, the total antioxidant capacity of young leaves was not sufficient to scavenge the excess reactive oxygen species (ROS) that were formed, and thus, a higher H2O2 accumulation in young leaves occurred. The energy allocation of absorbed light in photosystem II (PSII) suggests the existence of a differential photoprotective regulatory mechanism in the two leaf types to the time-course Pq exposure accompanied by differential antioxidant protection mechanisms. It is concluded that tolerance to Pq-induced oxidative stress is related to the redox state of quinone A (QA).  相似文献

Ionic compounds pose extra challenges with the appropriate modeling of long‐range coulombic interactions. Here, we study the mechanical properties of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires using molecular dynamic simulations with Buckingham potential and determine the suitability of the Ewald (Ann. Phys. 1921; 19) and Wolf (J. Chem. Phys. 1999; 110 (17):8254–8282) summation methods to account for the long‐range Coulombic forces. A comparative study shows that both the summation methods are suitable for modeling bulk structures with periodic boundary conditions imposed on all sides; however, significant differences are observed when nanowires with free surfaces are modeled. As opposed to Wolf's prediction of a linear stress–strain response in the elastic regime, Ewald's method predicts an erroneous behavior. This is attributed to the Ewald method's inability to account for surface effects properly. Additionally, Wolf's method offers highly improved computational performance as the model size is increased. This gain in computational time allows for modeling realistic nanowires, which can be directly compared with the existing experimental results. We conclude that the Wolf summation is a superior technique when modeling non‐periodic structures in terms of both accuracy of the results and computational performance. The objectives of this study were: (a) to evaluate the potential of the ELISA method in the determination of the produced OTA by Aspergillus ochraceus and Aspergillus carbonarius in malt extract agar (MEA) at different pH (3.9, 5.1, 5.9, 6.8), water activity (aw) (0.87, 0.93, 0.99), and temperature (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40 °C) levels, providing a rapid screening for the optimum and marginal conditions of OTA production, (b) to comparatively evaluate the performance of ELISA and HPLC method, and (c) to evaluate the ability of A. ochraceus to produce OTA in rehydrated Corinth raisins during storage for 36 days. Two independent experiments were carried out to estimate OTA production on MEA and Corinth raisins. The produced OTA was evaluated qualitatively by the ELISA method and selected cases were verified by HPLC. The levels of OTA decreased with water activity, whereas pH seemed to have no specific effect. Furthermore, A. ochraceus produced maximum amounts of OTA on raisins at the 24th day of incubation, indicating that the endogenous microflora may restrictively affect OTA production. The knowledge of optimal and marginal levels of ecological factors in order to optimise post-harvest and storage of food products may significantly affect the production of OTA. Moreover, endogenous microflora of certain foodstuffs may cause OTA detoxification and consequently reduction of OTA levels; a fact that has to be taken into account in food commodities such as raisins, grapes, and wine.  相似文献

Different media additives were used to analyze cell damage and “shear protection” characteristics of freely suspended animal cells (CRL-8018) cultured in stirred tank bioreactors. The additives used included dextran, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and methylcellulose, which are viscosity enhancers, surface active agents or combinations of these, respectively. We used these additives to study the effects of bulk viscosity and interfacial properties on cell damage or protection under conditions whereby bubble-induced cell damage becomes inhibitory to cell growth if the medium is not supplemented with a protective additive. Dextran (229 kDa, 1-3% w/v) was used to analyze the effects of increased bulk viscosity on cell damage or protection. It was found that the presence of dextran increased cell death under intense agitation. Several grades and types of derivatized methylcelluloses including Methocel A15LV (15 kDa, 0.1-0.5 w/v%), Methocel E50LV (50 kDa, 0.1% w/v), and Methocel H100LV (100 kDa, 0.25% w/v), provided shear protection. PVA (10 kDa, 0.1% w/v), which is an effective shear protectant, was used in combination with dextran and the results suggest that the interfacial properties it imparted were capable of overcoming the negative effect of dextran. We also found that in the absence of a gas-liquid interface at the surface of a sparged, stirred tank bioreactor, animal cells grown in medium that does not include additives can be agitated at rates in excess of 400 rpm without being damaged by turbulent cell-bubble interactions in the bulk.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to estimate the test accuracy measures (classification probabilities [CPs], predictive values [PVs], likelihood ratios [LRs] and area under receiving operating characteristic curve [AUC]) of three different culture-dependent methods, commonly used during routine analysis for the detection of the foodborne pathogen Listeria monocytogenes, from a Bayesian perspective. Data from a previous study by Andritsos et al. (2010) were used to define measures of accuracy for the diagnostic tests. Samples of minced pork meat obtained from local markets were tested for L. monocytogenes presence by parallel testing using selective media (PALCAM, ALOA and RAPID'L.mono). Dirichlet distribution, which is the multivariate expression of a Beta distribution, was used to analyze the data. Bayesian analysis determines characteristics of the posterior distribution from available prior information. Results showed that all methods were best at ruling in L. monocytogenes presence than ruling it out. PALCAM seemed to have better performance based on positive PV, positive LR and AUC, but it was not so sensitive as RAPID'L.mono was. Results also showed that none of the media were perfect in detecting L. monocytogenes, i.e. sensitivity and specificity equal to one. Besides, the problem of observing zero counts may be overcome by applying Bayesian analysis, making the determination of a test performance feasible.  相似文献

The effects of genetic, pre-harvest (season of harvest, spear diameter, spear portion and spear tip color) and post-harvest factors (storage and domestic preparation practices, e.g., peeling and cooking) on total phenolic, flavonoid and ascorbic acid content of white asparagus spears and their correlation with antioxidant capacity (DPPH and FRAP) were studied. Results showed that genetic material was important for the total phenolic content but not season of harvest, spear diameter or storage. Violet spear tips and apical spear portions showed the largest amount of total phenolics. Peeling did not affect total phenolics in fresh asparagus, whereas it reduced their content in stored asparagus, while cooking resulted in an increase in both fresh and stored asparagus. However, the soluble extract of total phenolics and flavonoids were minor and the missing significance of phenolics and flavonoids in antioxidant capacity of white asparagus spears depends on these small amounts.  相似文献

Cloudy olive oil, the fresh olive juice, is an intermediate form before full precipitation of freshly produced olive oil. Some consumers prefer it because they consider it as more natural and less processed. The cloudy form can persist for several months. The oil is a sort of dispersion/suspension system which can be also described as a micro‐emulsion/suspension. Water micro‐droplets were found to have a size ranging from 1 to 5 µm. Cloudiness is due to the low water content and the presence of natural emulsifiers in the oil. The suspension is formed by solid particles (5–60 µm) deriving from the olive fruit. They are present in small amounts (12–460 mg/kg oil). In the newly produced olive oil, containing 0.17–0.49% water, a number of microorganisms of different types (bacteria, yeasts, moulds) were found to survive, but at very low concentrations (<3 log cfu/mL oil). They originate from the exterior of the fruit (epiphytic microflora) and their presence is considered natural. Their enzyme activities do not seem to affect the quality of the final product.  相似文献

The physicochemical and microbiological characteristics of spontaneously fermented sausages made by two medium-sized enterprises (MSE) located in southern Greece have been studied. A total of 300 lactic acid bacteria and 300 staphylococcal strains have been isolated and identified by their physiological characteristics. Lactobacillus plantarum strains were found to dominate the lactic acid bacteria microbiota in most of the cases with L. sakei strains prevailing in some of them and L. rhamnosus strains occasionally accompanying the dominant lactic acid bacteria microbiota. On the other hand, S. saprophyticus strains were found to dominate the staphylococcal microbiota in all spontaneously fermented sausages with of S. simulans, S. xylosus, S. gallinarum and S. cohnii cohnii strains being sporadically present. Following the identification, an evaluation of their technological properties, namely proteolytic and lipolytic capacities as well as production of biogenic amines and antimicrobial compounds, took place. None of the lactic acid bacteria and staphylococci was found to possess lipolytic activity whereas a total of 6 lactic acid bacteria and 51 staphylococci strains were found to be able to hydrolyse either the sarcoplasic, myofibrillar or both protein fractions. Furthermore, only one L. sakei strain and 185 staphylococci strains were found to possess decarboxylase activity against lysine, tyrosine, ornithine or histidine. Finally none of the staphylococcal microbiota and 3 lactic acid bacteria strains were found to be able to produce antimicrobial compounds of proteinaceous nature against Listeria monocytogenes.  相似文献
