Three conditioned taste aversion experiments with rats investigated superconditioning. In each experiment, alternate exposures of 2 flavor compounds with a common element (i.e., AB/AS) were administered to establish an inhibitory relationship between the 2 unique elements, B and S, and prior to testing, S was paired with lithium chloride (LiCl). In Experiment 1, pairings of a neutral cue (X) with S in compound with B after the AB/AS exposures resulted in superconditioning between X and S. Extinction of the common element (A) just before the S-LiCl pairing attenuated both the inhibitory relationship between B and S (Experiment 2) and superconditioning between X and S (Experiment 3). Effects of outcome-alone pretraining and posttraining exposure were investigated in conditioned suppression experiments conducted within a sensory preconditioning preparation with rats. Experiment 1 found that interference by outcome postexposure was stronger than that by outcome preexposure, suggesting a recency effect. Experiment 2 found that after a long retention interval, outcome preexposure produced more interference than outcome postexposure, suggesting a shift from recency to primacy with increasing retention interval. Experiment 3 showed that presentation of a priming stimulus that had been embedded within the earlier phase of treatment also caused a shift from recency to primacy. These results suggest that, at least in a sensory preconditioning paradigm, retrievability of outcome-alone exposure memory is an important determinant of any outcome-alone exposure effect. TiO2 particle–polymer composite coatings were applied to the surface of a 5083 aluminum alloy. After using a knife to create an artificial defect, polarization resistance was monitored in artificial seawater at a temperature of 30 °C. The polarization resistance of the specimen coated with the composite polymer containing 3 vol% TiO2 particles increased significantly over time, suggesting that the composite coating had self‐healing properties. A carbon‐containing 2‐µm thick film was found on the coated aluminum substrate at the site of the artificial defect. The formation of the film was related to the dissolution of bisphenol A (BPA), which is a chemical precursor of the polymer coating that behaved as an inhibiting agent.  相似文献

By using a Ga FIB system to spatially control the implantation of Ga into SiO(2) followed by vacuum annealing, we have fabricated self-assembled surface Ga nanodots with a high degree of control of nucleation location. The morphology of the Ga nanodots is closely related to Ga dose, showing a critical dose needed for nucleation that results in Ga nanodot formation just below the surface, while at higher doses Ga nanodots form on the surface as metallic Ga droplets. Possible applications include defining nucleation sites for subsequent growth, use as Ga source for GaN or GaAs quantum dots, or as catalyst for nanowire growth.  相似文献

A series of compounds having hydrazide groups was prepared and evaluated as nucleating agent for poly(L ‐lactic acid) by differential scanning calorimetry. Hydrazide compounds derived from benzoic acid, 2‐hydroxybenzoic acid, 3‐tert‐butylbenzoic acid, and 2‐aminobenzoic acid, where two of hydrazide compounds connected by four methylene chain were evaluated in series. Benzoylhydrazide type was found to be more effective on the enhancement of crystallization of poly(L ‐lactic acid). Effects of connecting length of methylene chain numbers between two of benzoylhydrazide on the nucleation ability were also evaluated. Benzoylhydrazide‐type compound having 10 methylenes, that is, decamethylenedicarboxylic dibenzoylhydrazide demonstrated excellent nucleation ability, and the resulted crystallization temperature and enthalpy of PLA with the compound of 1 wt % loading were 131°C and 46 J g?1. The achieved crystallization temperature and enthalpy were over 10°C and over 10 J g?1 higher than PLA with conventional nucleating agents, such as talc and ethylenebis (12‐hydroxystearylamide). Thus, the improvement in processability, productivity, and heat resistance of PLA is suggested to be achieved by using decamethylenedicarboxylic dibenzoylhydrazide as a nucleating agent. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Previous research with keylight conditioned stimuli has revealed that pigeons failed to show inhibition by Stimulus B over Stimulus C in BC versus C testing after A+, AB–, ABC+ training where Stimulus A and Stimulus Compound ABC had signaled food, and Stimulus Compound AB had signaled no food. Indeed, B slightly facilitated responding to C on the BC trials. The present research addressed the same issue with multimodality stimulus arrangements in autoshaping with pigeons, conditioned suppression with rats, and instrumental discrimination learning with rats. Stimulus B facilitated responding to C if A and B were of the same modality and C was of a different modality. However, B inhibited responding to C if A and C were of the same modality and B was of a different modality, or if B and C were of the same modality and A was of a different modality. The interfacial structure of all-polyethylene laminate (linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE)/deuterated polyethylene (D-PE)) was investigated using different microprobe methods, scanning thermal microscopy (SThM), and confocal laser nano-Raman spectroscopy. By scanning the thermal probe under isothermal conditions over a cross section of the laminate film, a high-contrast image of apparent thermal conductivity at the interfacial region was obtained even for the flat height region observed using an atomic force micrograph. The apparent thermal conductivity and the Raman intensity gradually change across the tapered interfacial region between the two PEs. The interfacial thickness was estimated to be in the micrometer-order depending on the thermal treatment of the laminate film. Additionally, the peel strength of the LLDPE/D-PE laminate increased as the interfacial thickness increased. This suggests that both the LLDPE and D-PE molecular chains were entangled with each other, and/or both crystalline lamellae were in an interlocking state during thermal treatment.  相似文献
