Thermally conductive epoxy nanocomposite with core–shell structured filler beads has been prepared. The core represents plasma-treated poly(methyl methacrylate) bead, and the shell, amine-functionalized reduced graphene oxide (frGO) sheets. The negatively charged core and the positively charged shell form core–shell unified structure through electrostatic attraction and the conductive bridges are formed among neighboring filler particles in the composite mass. The epoxy composite prepared with these core–shell structured filler shows a thermal conductivity of 0.72 W m−1 K−1 for an overall frGO concentration of as low as 0.96 wt %. Pal model has been applied to evaluate the effective thermal conductivity of frGO sheets that have been realized in the epoxy composition. Assuming the maximum possible volume packing fraction of the spherical beads for random jamming to be equal to 0.63, the effective thermal conductivity has been estimated as 280 W m−1 K−1. Evaluation of the effective thermal conductivity is a step forward to in-depth study of real contribution of the highly conductive fillers in the polymer composites. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. This study is devoted to the analysis of the properties of continuous bamboo fiber (BF)-reinforced polyamide 11 (PA 11) composites. The SEM observations highlighted continuity between BFs and the polymeric matrix showing a high density of hydrogen bonds. The comparative calorimetric study of the matrix and its composites showed that the crystallinity of PA 11 was not modified by the presence of bamboo fibers. The physical aging observed in PA 11 is no more observed in composites due to physical interactions between PA 11 and BFs. The mechanical properties were investigated by tensile strength and dynamic mechanical analysis. The introduction of BFs enhanced Young's modulus of the matrix by a factor of 10. The static bending behavior of porous functionally graded (PFG) micro-plate under the geometrically nonlinear analysis is studied in this article. A small-scale nonlinear solution is established using the Von-Kármán hypothesis and the modified couple stress theory (MCST). To obtain the deflection of the plate, the Reddy higher-order plate theory coupled with isogeometric analysis (IGA) is utilized. The distribution of porosities is assumed to be even and uneven across the plate’s thickness and the effective material properties of porous functionally graded micro-plate are calculated using the refined rule-of-mixture hypothesis. The influence of power index, porosity parameter and material length scale parameter on the nonlinear behaviors of static bending of porous FGM micro-plates are also investigated using several numerical examples.

Experimental results proved that the development of Colletotrichum capsici B4 is extremely sensitive to water‐soluble chitosan (WSC) and inhibitory effects increase with increasing concentrations of WSC. In the in vitro test, the results showed that the entire prevention of conidial germination and mycelial diameter development are recognized in a potato dextrose agar medium containing 0.4% and 0.8% WSC, respectively. WSC was more efficient in a potato dextrose broth where it absolutely prevented the mycelial development of C. capsici B4 at a concentration of 0.32%. WSC treatments considerably decreased disease prevalence and the lesion diameter of anthracnose disease on chilli pepper fruits in the in vivo experiments. Experiments in biochemistry indicated that the activities of the key defense‐related enzymes in peel, consisting of chitinase, β‐1,3‐glucanase and total phenolic content, were increased by both C. capsici B4 infection and C. capsici B4 treatment, and was further treated with a 0.5% WSC concentration.

Practical applications

From the present studies we conclude that water‐soluble chitosan (WSC) can directly inhibit the development of C. capsici B4 isolated from infected chili pepper fruits showing typical symptoms of anthracnose in in vitro and effectively control anthracnose in chili pepper fruit in in vivo with concentration‐dependent antifungal effects. These findings suggest that WSC may be recognized as a feasible effective alternative to artificial fungicides for postharvest disease control of chili pepper fruits.  相似文献

Edge caching has received much attention as a promising technique to overcome the stringent latency and data-hungry challenges in the future generation wireless networks. Meanwhile, full-duplex (FD) transmission can potentially double the spectral efficiency by allowing a node to receive and transmit at the same frequency band simultaneously. In this paper, we investigate the delivery time performance of a cache-aided FD system, in which an edge node, operates in FD mode, serves users via wireless channels and is equipped with a cache memory. Firstly, we derive a closed-form expression for the average delivery time by taking into account the uncertainties of both backhaul and access wireless channels. The derived analysis allows the examination of the impact of key parameters, e.g., cache size and transmit power. Secondly, a power optimization problem is formulated to minimize the average delivery time. To deal with the non-convexity of the formulated problem, we propose an iterative optimization algorithm based on the bisection method. Finally, numerical results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. A significant delivery time reduction is achieved by the proposed optimization compared to the FD reference and half-duplex counterpart.

It has been reported in the technical literature that whiskers of rodlike single crystals can be used in order to generate shish‐kebab structures or other different lamellae morphologies during isothermal or dynamic crystallization of sheared or presheared polymer melts. The expected advantage of the changed crystalline structure is a reinforcing effect of the composite. A lot of papers reported about the application of inorganic and organic whiskers such as cellulose and chitin whiskers. This study reports on an attempt to use acicular PCC as appropriate whisker for improving mechanical properties of polypropylene. In this article special attention is given to demonstrate the effect of flow induced crystallization under varying shear conditions in order to improve the mechanical properties.
