Practical communication systems must cope with many uncertainties in addition to determining the transmitted data, e.g., the direction, timing, and distortion of the desired signal, and the spectral and spatial distribution of the interference, all of which may change with time. This paper describes exact least-squares (LS) recursive lattice algorithms which resolve these uncertainties in a direct-sequence spread-spectrum digital communication system. The adaptive LS algorithm is recursive beth in order and time, and converges rapidly to the uncertain parameters. Time-discrete algorithms may be mechanized by a receiver containing integrate-and-dump circuits operating at the chip rate of the pseudonoise (PN) sequence, one in each in-phase and each quadrature channel of each sensor array element's output. Different configurations of optimal time-discrete receivers are presented and transformed into adaptive receivers by taking advantage of the spectral properties of the different kinds of LS filters. Simulation results are presented and some guide lines are given for the architecture of an adaptive direct-sequence spread-spectrum system.  相似文献

The influence of different centralised pre-packaging systems (PVC, modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), 25% CO(2) and 75% O(2), vacuum skin packaging (VSP) and the mother bag concept, 100% CO(2)) on the shelf-life (0, 7, 14 and 21 days at 0°C) of fresh pork was determined using microbiological, colour, odour and acceptability characteristics. All the packaging treatments were equally efficient for the first 4 days of retail display. In the extended shelf-life study (7, 14 and 21 days) the mother bag centralised packaging system gave the most promising shelf-life results (21 days) and was also judged superior in terms of odour. Modified atmosphere packaging (14 days) and VSP (7 days) may be considered as other possible options.  相似文献

The feasibility of an optical phased array antenna applicable for spaceborne laser communications was experimentally demonstrated. Heterodyne optical phase-locked loops provide for a defined phase relationship between the collimated output beams of three single-mode fibers. In the far field the beams interfere with a measured efficiency of 99%. The main lobe of the interference pattern can be moved by phase shifting the subaperture output beams. The setup permitted agile beam steering within an angular range of 1 mr and a response time of 0.7 ms. We propose an operational optical phased array antenna fed by seven lasers, featuring high transmit power and redundance.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy and tolerability of tolterodine with that of oxybutynin in patients with an overactive bladder. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group, multinational phase-III study was conducted in urology and gynaecology clinics in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Sweden. The study enrolled 293 patients with urodynamically confirmed bladder overactivity, increased frequency of micturition (> or = micturitions/24 h) and symptoms of urgency and/or urge incontinence (> or = 1 episode/24 h). Patients received either tolterodine (2 mg twice daily) or oxybutynin (5 mg three times daily) or placebo. Doses could be reduced, to prevent withdrawal, to 1 mg or 2.5 mg, respectively. The main outcome measures were the mean change from baseline in frequency of micturition/24 h, the number of incontinent episodes/24 h and volume voided per micturition. RESULTS: After 12 weeks' treatment, the mean frequency of micturition decreased by 21% and 19.5% in those receiving tolterodine (n = 118) and oxybutynin (n = 118), respectively, and by 10.5% in those on placebo (n = 57). Among those with urge incontinence at baseline (75% of patients), the mean number of incontinent episodes decreased by 47%, 71% and 19%, respectively, in those receiving tolterodine, oxybutynin and placebo. The effect of tolterodine and oxybutynin on these two micturition variables was statistically equivalent. There was also a comparable increase in mean volume voided per micturition in the tolterodine (27%) and oxybutynin groups (31%), compared with 7% in the placebo group. Dry mouth was the most common adverse event and was reported with greater frequency and intensity among patients receiving oxybutynin than among those receiving either tolterodine or placebo. In the oxybutynin group, more patients also withdrew because of adverse events and a greater proportion required dose reduction as a result of adverse events. Despite dose reduction, the frequency of adverse events and the intensity of dry mouth remained higher among those receiving oxybutynin (2.5 mg three times daily) than in patients who remained on tolterodine 2 mg twice daily. CONCLUSION: Tolterodine 2 mg twice daily is effective and well tolerated in the treatment of bladder overactivity. Tolterodine was better tolerated than oxybutynin, particularly with respect to the frequency and intensity of dry mouth, but had comparable clinical efficacy. The superior tolerability of tolterodine therefore allows more patients to remain on effective therapy than the current most commonly prescribed agent for the treatment of the overactive bladder.  相似文献

The process of communication jamming can be modeled as a two-person zero-sum noncooperative dynamic game played between a communicator (a transmitter-receiver pair) and a jammer. We consider a one-way time-slotted packet radio communication link in the presence of a jammer, where the data rate is fixed and (1) in each slot, the communicator and jammer choose their respective power levels in a random fashion from a zero and a positive value; (2) both players are subject to temporal energy constraints which account for protection of the communicating and jamming transmitters from overheating. The payoff function is the time average of the mean payoff per slot. The game is solved for certain ranges of the players' transmitter parameters. Structures of steady-state solutions to the game are also investigated. The general behavior of the players' strategies and payoff increment is found to depend on a parameter related to the payoff matrix, which me call the payoff parameter, and the transmitters' parameters. When the payoff parameter is lower than a threshold, the optimal steady-state strategies are mixed and the payoff increment constant over time, whereas when it is greater than the threshold, the strategies are pure, and the payoff increment exhibits oscillatory behavior  相似文献

Organophosphorus hydrolase (OPH, EC 8.1.3.1) is a homodimeric enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of organophosphorus pesticides and nerve agents. We have analyzed the urea- and guanidinium chloride-induced equilibrium unfolding of OPH as monitored by far-ultraviolet circular dichroism and intrinsic tryptophan fluorescence. These spectral methods, which monitor primarily the disruption of protein secondary structure and tertiary structure, respectively, reveal biphasic unfolding transitions with evidence for an intermediate form of OPH. By investigating the protein concentration dependence of the unfolding curves, it is clear that the second transition involves dissociation of the monomeric polypeptide chains and that the intermediate is clearly dimeric. The dimeric intermediate form of OPH is devoid of enzymatic activity, yet clearly behaves as a partially folded, dimeric protein by gel filtration. Therefore, we propose an unfolding mechanism in which the native dimer converts to an inactive, well-populated dimeric intermediate which finally dissociates and completely unfolds to individual monomeric polypeptides. The denaturant-induced unfolding data are described well by a three-state mechanism with delta G for the interconversion between the native homodimer (N2) and the inactive dimeric intermediate (I2) of 4.3 kcal/mol while the overall standard state stability of the native homodimer relative to the unfolded monomers (2U) is more than 40 kcal/mol. Thus, OPH is a remarkably stable protein that folds through an inactive, dimeric intermediate and will serve as a good model system for investigating the energetics of protein association and folding in a system where we can clearly resolve these two steps.  相似文献

Recently, CMOS has been demonstrated to be a viable technology for very-high-bit-rate broad-band and wireless communication systems up to 40 Gb/s and 50 GHz. Advances in device scaling and doping-profile optimization have also resulted in SiGe bipolar transistors with impressive performance, including cut-off frequencies of more than 200 GHz. This paper presents advances in circuit design which fully exploit the high-speed potential of a 0.13 µm CMOS technology up to 50 GHz and of a high-performance SiGe bipolar technology up to 110 GHz operating frequency. The combination of advanced circuit techniques and a state-of-the-art fabrication-process technology results in continuing the upward shift of the frequency limits.  相似文献

The acceptance of, preference for and consumption intent for high‐fibre muffins and/or rusks baked with either red palm olein (RPO) or sunflower oil (SFO, as control) were evaluated by two consumer groups of 144 and 67 consumers, respectively, in order to determine the possibility of their successful inclusion as carriers for oils in a subsequent nutrition intervention trial. A five‐point hedonic and food action rating scale was used for sensory evaluation. SFO muffins and rusks scored significantly higher than RPO products on a number of hedonic dimensions and were thus more acceptable to the average consumer. Sensory attributes of SFO and RPO products received high scores by consumers from both groups (≥4.0 on five‐point scale), and consumers intended to eat them often (at least one per day). The RPO products were satisfactory in terms of acceptance and complied with requirements for use in the subsequent nutrition intervention trial.  相似文献

An investigation is reported of an acquisition system for digital communication over fading dispersive channels that is optimum in the maximum-likelihood sense. A performance measure for the synchronizer in the acquisition mode is defined. Upper and lower bounds on the performance measure are derived. The effective bounds on parameters, such as signal-to-noise ratio, pulse width and modulation, number of pulses, spread of the channel, and the size of the resolution cell, on the performance of the synchronizer is investigated  相似文献
