The mechanism of cracks propagation and cracks coalescence due to compressive loading of the brittle substances containing pre-existing cracks (flaws) was modeled experimentally using specially made rock-like specimens from Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC). The breakage process of the specimens was studied by inserting single and double flaws with different inclination angles at the center and applying uniaxial compressive stress at both ends of the specimen. The first crack was oriented at 50° from the horizontal direction and kept constant throughout the analysis while the orientation of the second crack was changed. It is experimentally observed that the wing cracks are produced at the first stage of loading and start their propagation toward the direction of uniaxial compressive loading. The secondary cracks may also be produced in form of quasi-coplanar and/or oblique cracks in a stable manner. The secondary cracks may eventually continue their propagation in the direction of maximum principle stress. These experimental works were also simulated numerically by a modified higher order displacement discontinuity method and the cracks propagation and cracks coalescence were studied based on Mode I and Mode II stress intensity factors (SIFs). It is concluded that the wing cracks initiation stresses for the specimens change from 11.3 to 14.1 MPain the case of numerical simulations and from 7.3 to 13.8 MPa in the case of experimental works. It is observed that cracks coalescence stresses change from 21.8 to 25.3 MPa and from 19.5 to 21.8 MPa in the numerical and experimental analyses, respectively. Comparing some of the numerical and experimental results with those recently cited in the literature validates the results obtained by the proposed study. Finally, a numerical simulation was accomplished to study the effect of confining pressure on the crack propagation process, showing that the SIFs increase and the crack initiation angles change in this case.  相似文献

A predictive functional controller based on ARMarkov model structure has been designed to control welding current and arc voltage in a GMAW process. The closed loop system performance is investigated through computer simulations and is compared by those achieved from implementing two commonly used controllers i.e. PI and feedback linearization based PID. The local stability of the closed loop system is analyzed in the presence of uncertainties in the linearized model of the process as well as the control parameters. Finally it is shown that the proposed controller performs like a PI controller along with a pre-filter compensator.  相似文献

In this paper, a new approach is suggested to investigate stability in a family of fractional order linear time invariant systems with order between 1 and 2. The proposed method relies on finding a linear ordinary system that possesses the same stability property as the fractional order system. In this way, instead of performing the stability analysis on the fractional order systems, the analysis is converted into the domain of ordinary systems which is well established and well understood. As a useful consequence, we have extended two general tests for robust stability check of ordinary systems to fractional order systems.  相似文献

This paper deals with the robust finite time tracking of desired trajectories for a wide group of robotic manipulators in spite of unknown disturbances, uncertainties, and saturations of actuators while only manipulator's positions are available and its velocities are not measurable physically. A new form of chattering‐free second order fast nonsingular terminal sliding mode control scheme is introduced to design input torques for fulfilling the determined tracking objective in the adjustable total finite settling time. The proposed control algorithm is incorporated with two nonlinear observers to estimate disturbances and velocities of joints within finite settling times. The global finite time stability of the closed‐loop manipulator is analytically proved. Finally, a numerical simulation is carried out to verify the effectiveness of the designed input torques. In this paper the characteristic ratios and generalized time constant are defined for all-pole commensurate fractional order systems. The sufficient condition for stability of these systems in terms of their characteristic ratios is obtained. Also an analytical approach for characteristic ratio assignment (CRA) to have a non-overshooting fast closed loop step response is introduced. The proposed CRA method is then employed to design a fractional order controller. Computer simulation results are presented to illustrate the performance of the CRA based designed fractional order controllers.  相似文献

In this research, we propose a new method and instrument to measure load-extension curve of the fabric samples under all-directional extension. Using this method, fabric sample is loaded under extension in the warp, weft, and all other directions in between. Using this new method, we introduced a comprehensive tensile modulus which is affected by the fabric structures and densities. For this purpose different structures i.e. plain, Twill 2/2, Twill 1/3, and Twill 1/7 were produced with different densities. Then these samples were tested under the new method. Our results are then compared to those one would obtain under uniaxial tests, by performing independent uniaxial tests. It is shown that under all-directional test lowering the weft density decreases the tensile comprehensive modulus. Furthermore, a reduction in the floating yarns in the fabric structure decreases the tensile comprehensive modulus. It was found that among the samples tested here, plain fabric and Twill 1/7, respectively, possess the maximum and minimum comprehensive modulus. A similar trend was also observed through independent uniaxial extension, in warp or weft direction, test.  相似文献

In this paper, the robust bounded-input bounded-output stability of a large class of linear time invariant fractional order families of systems with real parametric uncertainties is analyzed. The transfer functions contain polynomials in fractional powers of the Laplace variable s, possibly in combination with exponentials of fractional powers of s. Using the concept of the value set and a generalization of the zero exclusion condition theorem, a theorem to check the robust bounded-input bounded-output stability of these families of systems is presented. An upper cutoff frequency for drawing the value sets is provided as well. Finally, two numerical examples are given to illustrate results obtained by the lemma and theorems presented in the paper.  相似文献
