Freeze-lining technologies have been employed to protect the cooling walls of reactors from chemically aggressive molten reactants. To date, the designs of freeze linings for pyrometallurgical reactors have been based on the basic assumption that the interface between the deposit and the bath remains at the liquidus temperature of the bulk liquid. There is, however, increasing evidence that interface temperature between stagnant deposit and bath is less than the liquidus of the bulk liquid. A previous study also demonstrated that the effects of bath chemistry need to be taken into account in freeze-lining designs. To investigate the fundamental processes involved in the formation and stability of the deposit, experimental laboratory studies have been undertaken in the Cu-Fe-Si-Al-O slag system in equilibrium with metallic copper using an air-cooled probe technique. In the current study, the effects of bath agitation on the microstructure, morphologies of the phases, and formation of various layers across the freeze-lining deposit were studied at steady-state conditions. It appears that the changes in the fluid flow pattern through changes in shear intensities result in corresponding changes in the deposit microstructure, formation of the sealing primary phase layer, thus influencing the interface temperature between freeze-lining deposit and the liquid bath. 相似文献

The article considers the hydrodynamic and temperature dependencies of heat and mass transfer in an evaporator-condensing system representing a pulsating heat pipe with a built-in heater used as an evaporator, a vapor condenser, and an electrohydrodynamic pump for forced pumping through of a coolant. The influence of the electric current intensity and voltage on the electrohydrodynamic pump, the applied power, the temperature head, and other factors on the heat transfer has been investigated in order to reveal the physical peculiarities of the processes under investigation and the creation of a background for their calculation. An electric field is used only in the electrohydrodynamic pump, which is situated outside of the evaporator and condenser. The experimental data are treated in the form of “rectified” dependencies having a generalized character between the dependent and governing parameters of the process. The obtained results can be used for in-depth investigations, as well as for the design and fabrication of cooling and compact thermostabilizing electrohydrodynamic devices. 相似文献

The phase equilibria and liquidus temperatures in the ZnO-“FeO”-Al2O3-CaO-SiO2 system in equilibrium with metallic iron have been determined experimentally in the temperature range 1383 K to 1573 K (1150 °C
to 1300 °C). The experimental conditions were selected to characterize lead blast furnace and imperial smelting furnace slags.
The results are presented in a form of pseudoternary sections ZnO-“FeO”-(Al2O3 + CaO + SiO2) with fixed CaO/SiO2 and (CaO + SiO2)/Al2O3 ratios. It was found that wustite and spinel are the major primary phases in the composition range investigated. Effects

Markov chains are used as a formal mathematical model for sequences of elements of a text. This model is applied for authorship attribution of texts. As elements of a text, we consider sequences of letters or sequences of grammatical classes of words. It turns out that the frequencies of occurrences of letter pairs and pairs of grammatical classes in a Russian text are rather stable characteristics of an author and, apparently, they could be used in disputed authorship attribution. A comparison of results for various modifications of the method using both letters and grammatical classes is given. Experimental research involves 385 texts of 82 writers. Limited data are available on phase equilibria of the multicomponent slag system at the oxygen partial pressures used in the copper smelting, converting, and slag-cleaning processes. Recently, experimental procedures have been developed and have been applied successfully to characterize several complex industrial slags. The experimental procedures involve high-temperature equilibration on a substrate and quenching followed by electron probe X-ray microanalysis. This technique has been used to construct the liquidus for the “Cu2O”-“FeO”-SiO2-based slags with 2 wt pct of CaO, 0.5 wt pct of MgO, and 4.0 wt pct of Al2O3 at controlled oxygen partial pressures in equilibrium with metallic copper. The selected ranges of compositions and temperatures are directly relevant to the copper slag-cleaning processes. The new experimental equilibrium results are presented in the form of ternary sections and as a liquidus temperature vs Fe/SiO2 weight ratio diagram. The phase equilibria and the liquidus temperatures in the system ZnO-“FeO”-Al2O3-CaO-SiO2 have been determined experimentally in equilibrium with metallic iron. Specifically, the effects of Al2O3 concentrations in Imperial Smelting Furnace slags are identified, and the results are presented in the form of pseudo-ternary sections ZnO-“FeO”-(Al2O3 + CaO + SiO2) in which CaO/SiO2 = 0.93 and (CaO + SiO2)/Al2O3 = 5.0 and 3.5, respectively. It was found that, in the presence of Al2O3, the spinel phase is formed, the spinel primary phase field expands, and the wustite and melilite primary phase fields are reduced in size with an increasing Al2O3 concentration. The implications of the findings to industrial practice are discussed. 相似文献
