This contribution compares Germany, France, and the United Kingdom with the Netherlands on a number of issues. The focus is on (a) processes of urbanization and (b) urban policies (broadly defined in an economic, social, and ecological sense). These issues are seen in relation to national spatial planning. The authors combine the findings of this comparative analysis with the results of previous research by one of the authors. At the end, they draw some conclusions and make recommendations for the next (Fifth) Report on Physical Planning in the Netherlands. Ton Kreukels is professor of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Geographical Sciences at Utrecht University. From 1986 to 1992, he was also a member of the Netherlands Scientific Council for Government Policy. Then, and especially in this last position, his research was focused on a study of the four big cities and city regions in the Netherlands: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, and Utrecht. From 1992 up to the present, he has been involved in a comparative study of urban regions in Europe, including those of the Netherlands. Egge-Jan Pollé is a human geographer from Utrecht University. In 1996, while a junior-researcher at Utrecht University, he worked together with the first author on the study about Germany, France, and the United Kingdom that is reported in this article. That study was commissioned by the Netherlands National Spatial Planning Agency.  相似文献

The Yld2004-18p yield criterion uses 18 parameters to define anisotropy for a full 3D stress state. It is demonstrated in this paper that dependencies between the parameters exist and for a given set of experimental data the parameters are not uniquely defined. Analysis of the yield function shows that two specific combinations of parameters do not contribute to the value of the yield function. Therefore, the number of parameters can be reduced to 16, without any loss of flexibility. Similarly, the number of parameters for the plane stress version of this yield criterion reduces from 14 to 12.  相似文献

Solvatochromic merocyanine dyes were immobilized onto polymer surfaces and copolymerized with acrylic resins, yielding novel reversibly solvatochromic polymers, which were used as solvent polarity indicators that exhibited different colors in water and alcohols. To generate solvatochromic polymer for solvent polarity indication, two solvatochromic merocyanine dyes containing moieties, which allow their immobilization onto polymer surfaces, or copolymerization with acrylic and vinyl monomers, were sequentially synthesized in four and six steps. Merocyanine dye (E)‐2‐(2‐(1‐(6‐aminohexyl)pyridinium‐4‐yl)vinyl)‐4,6‐dichlorophenolate (AHPVD) was prepared with a terminal aminohexyl group which allowed covalent bonding to activated carboxylated or sulfonated polymeric materials. The dyes were covalently bonded to the polymer surfaces, such as, nylon, polycarbonate, polyethylene terephthalate, and silicone. Solvatochromic merocyanine dye (E)‐2‐(2‐(1‐(6‐acrylamidohexyl)pyridinium‐4‐yl)vinyl)‐4,6‐dichlorophenolate (AAPVD) was synthesized for radical copolymerization with acrylate and vinyl monomers and oligomers. Side‐chain solvatochromic merocyanine‐containing hydrophilic polymers with differential water and alcohol absorption were obtained upon photoinitiated radical copolymerization with specially formulated acrylated resins. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Incorporation of cleavable linkers into peptides and proteins is of particular value in the study of biological processes. Here we describe the synthesis of a cleavable linker that is hypersensitive to oxidative cleavage as the result of the periodate reactivity of a vicinal amino alcohol moiety. Two strategies directed towards the synthesis of a building block suitable for solid‐phase peptide synthesis were developed: a chemoenzymatic route, involving L ‐threonine aldolase, and an enantioselective chemical route; these led to α,γ‐diamino‐β‐hydroxybutanoic acids in diastereoisomerically mixed and enantiopure forms, respectively. Incorporation of the 1,2‐amino alcohol linker into the backbone of a peptide generated a conditional peptide that was rapidly cleaved at very low concentrations of sodium periodate. This cleavable peptide ligand was applied in the generation of MHC exchange reagents for the detection of antigen‐specific T cells in peripheral blood cells. The extremely low concentration of periodate required to trigger MHC peptide exchange allowed the co‐oxidation of methionine and disulfide residues to be avoided. Conditional MHC reagents hypersensitive to periodate can now be applied without limitations when UV irradiation is undesired or less practical.  相似文献

The synergistic effect on the thermal decomposition and heat release rate (HRR) in particular the peak heat release rate (PHRR) of unsaturated polyester (UP) resin blended with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and sepiolite nanoclay was investigated using thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), pyrolysis combustion flow calorimetery (PCFC) and the cone calorimetery. Initial microcalorimeter findings established a synergistic effect for ternary system comprising a 10:0.5 wt% mixture of sepiolite:MWNT, respectively, which resulted in a 40% reduction in heat release capacity (HRC). This result was also confirmed within the well‐established cone calorimeter by a 50% reduction in PHRR in contrast to unfilled UP. The mechanism behind this reduction is thought to be due to the bridging of the MWNTs between the sepiolite clay needles, creating a tight protective surface layer that reduces the MLR. TGA also confirmed the advantage of such a ternary system through a 36°C shift in the onset decomposition temperature and an 11% increase in residual char. This study describes an attempt to mechanically reinforce polypropylene (PP) using multi‐wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) through a melt compounding process followed by hot‐pressing and solid state drawing. The effect of a high density polyethylene (HDPE) coating on MWNTs and melt flow index (MFI) of PP on the dispersion of MWNTs and composite properties are studied by means of mechanical tests, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and wide angle x‐ray diffraction (WAXD). Highly orientated composite tapes are prepared to fully utilize the properties of MWNTs in uniaxial direction. Highly aligned MWNTs are shown by SEM, while highly oriented polymer chains are characterized by WAXD. Composite theory is used to analysis the results and indicate that effective reinforcement of PP by MWNTs is highest at relatively low filler content and draw ratios. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Based on the product information structure related to the Manufacturing Engineering Reference Model, a method for variant-based cost estimation is proposed. The structure defines a product in terms of elements and their relations. The elements and their properties constitute product characteristics that can be used to compare products. For proper use in different engineering processes, the product characteristics are related to the four cost drivers - geometry, material, processes and production planning. The main advantage of the proposed method is a more flexible way of defining and valuing product characteristics without the use of rigid product classes and codes.  相似文献

Large-scale deployment of carbon capture and storage needs a dedicated infrastructure. Planning and designing of this infrastructure require incorporation of both temporal and spatial aspects. In this study, a toolbox has been developed that integrates ArcGIS, a geographical information system with spatial and routing functions, and MARKAL, an energy bottom-up model based on linear optimization. Application of this toolbox led to blueprints of a CO2 infrastructure in the Netherlands. The results show that in a scenario with 20% and 50% CO2 emissions reduction targets compared to their 1990 level in respectively 2020 and 2050, an infrastructure of around 600 km of CO2 trunklines may need to be built before 2020. Investment costs for the pipeline construction and the storage site development amount to around 720 m€ and 340 m€, respectively. The results also show the implication of policy choices such as allowing or prohibiting CO2 storage onshore on CO2 Capture and Storage (CCS) and infrastructure development. This paper illustrates how the ArcGIS/MARKAL-based toolbox can provide insights into a CCS infrastructure development, and support policy makers by giving concrete blueprints over time with respect to scale, pipeline trajectories, and deployment of individual storage sites.  相似文献
