The effects of prestressing the reinforcement on the strength improvement and settlement reduction of a reinforced granular bed overlying weak soil are being investigated through a series of laboratory scale bearing capacity tests. The influences of parameters such as strength of underlying weak soil, thickness of granular bed, magnitude of prestressing force, direction of prestressing forces and number of layers of reinforcement are being examined. Finite element analyses are carried out using the FE program PLAXIS to study the effect of prestressing the reinforcement. Results obtained from finite element analyses are found to be in reasonably good agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

De-duplication using biometrics has gained much attention from research communities as it provides a unique identity for each and every individual among the large population.De-duplication is the process of removing the instances of multiple enrollments by the same person using the person’s biometric data.An important issue in the large-scale de-duplication applications is the speed of matching and the accuracy of the matching because the number of persons to be enrolled runs into millions.This paper presents an efficient method to improve the accuracy of fingerprint de-duplication in de-centralized manner.De-duplication accuracy decreases because of the noise present in the data,which would cause improper slap fingerprint segmentation.In this paper,an attempt is made to remove the noise present in the data by using binarization of slap fingerprint images and region labeling of desired regions with 8-adjacency neighborhood.The distinct feature of this technique is to remove the noise present in the data for an accurate slap fingerprint segmentation and improve the de-duplication accuracy.Experimental results demonstrate that the fingerprint segmentation rate and de-duplication accuracy are improved significantly.  相似文献

Structural and optical studies have been performed on GaN, InGaN layers, In0.08Ga0.92N/GaN heterostructures, In0.08Ga0.92N/In0.02Ga0.98N single and multiquantum wells grown by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) and GaN by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) on GaN templates by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and photoluminescence (PL). The layers are found to be high quality with low defect density, on the order of 106 cm?2, which are mainly related to the threading dislocations originating/propagating from the hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE) GaN template. The interface between the layers and substrate could not be detected by TEM and was therefore deemed to be of high quality. Convergent beam electron diffraction studies revealed that the polarity of the films is Ga-polarity, which is the same as that of the substrate. A dual structure with different compositions and having thicknesses of 10 and 25 nm was observed in InGaN layers grown on GaN in one of the heterostructure samples. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the XRD rocking curves of (0 0 0 2) for heterostructures and quantum wells were found to be in the range of 15–28 arcmin for a slit width of 2 mm. PL studies on GaN layers grown by MBE and MOCVD on GaN templates are reasonably similar. The PL spectra from all the MBE and MOCVD epilayers and the substrate contain a plethora of sharp peaks related to excitonic transitions. With the presence of donor-bound exciton peaks and their associated two-electron satellites, the binding energies of two distinct shallow donors (28.8 and 32.6 meV), which are attributed to Si and O, respectively, were determined. PL measurements revealed that the FWHM of the main donor bound exciton peak increased from 0.6 to 2.9 meV but no change in peak position (3.472 eV) was observed in GaN when doping with Si (5×1017 cm?3). However, the intensities of the yellow band and the shallow donor–acceptor pair band increased 10 times as compared to that in the undoped GaN samples. In the case of InGaN/GaN heterostructures, a similar trend was observed when compared to the doped samples. In the multiquantum well In0.08Ga0.92N/In0.02Ga0.98N heterostructures, the activation energy of the exciton emission, found to be 18 meV, was the lowest in the samples studied. The peak at 3.02 eV related to the InGaN was strongly pronounced in the In0.08Ga0.92N/In0.02Ga0.98N multiquantum well structure. In the In0.08Ga0.92N/In0.02Ga0.98N quantum well structures, the change in peak position with variation of temperature from 15 to 300 K in PL spectra is “S”-shaped. The cause for the “S” shape, i.e., a red–blue–red shift, is discussed.  相似文献

A library of new anthranilamide-pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine conjugates were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their anticancer activity in cervical cancer cells such as HeLa and SiHa that possess low levels of p53. All 24 conjugates showed antiproliferative activity, while some of them exhibit significant cytotoxicity. In assays related to cell-cycle distribution, these conjugates induced G(2) /M arrest in HeLa cells and G(1) cell-cycle arrest in SiHa cells. Immunocytochemistry assays revealed that these compounds cause nuclear translocation of p53, thereby indicating the activation of p53. In cervical cancer cells, the p53 protein is degraded by E6 oncoprotein. Immunoblot and RT-PCR analyses proved the presence of mitochondria-mediated apoptosis with involvement p53 target genes such as BAX, Bcl2, and p21 (CDKI). Moreover, these compounds increased the phosphorylated forms of p53 and provide signals for apoptosis induction. Interestingly, one of the conjugates, (2-phenyl-7-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-5-yl)(4-(2-(thiophen-2-ylmethylamino)benzoyl)piperazin-1-yl)methanone, is the most promising candidate in this series and has the potential to be taken up for further detailed studies.  相似文献

A chemoselective reduction of olefins and acetylenes is demonstrated by employing catalytic amounts of ferric chloride hexahydrate (FeCl3⋅6 H2O) and aqueous hydrazine (NH2NH2⋅H2O) as hydrogen source at room temperature. The reduction is chemoselective and tolerates a variety of reducible functional groups. Unlike other metal‐catalysed reduction methods, the present method employs a minimum amount of aqueous hydrazine (1.5–2 equiv.). Also, the scope of this method is demonstrated in the synthesis of ibuprofen in aqueous medium.  相似文献

The cell type-, organ-, and species-specific expression of the Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are well described, but little is known about the respective expression profiles of their accessory molecules. We therefore determined the mRNA expression levels of LBP, MD2, CD36, CD14, granulin, HMGB1, LL37, GRP94, UNC93b1, TRIL, PRAT4A, AP3B1, AEP and the respective TLRs in human and mouse solid organs. Humans and mice displayed significant differences between their respective mRNA expression patterns of these factors. In addition, the expression profiles in transient tissue inflammation upon renal ischemia-reperfusion injury, in spleens and kidneys from mice with lupus-like systemic autoimmunity, and in progressive tissue fibrosis upon unilateral ureteral obstruction were studied. Several TLR co-factors were specifically regulated during the different phases of these disease entities, suggesting a functional involvement in the disease process. Thus, the organ- and species-specific expression patterns need to be considered in the design and interpretation of studies related to TLR-mediated innate immunity, which seems to be involved in the tissue injury phase, in the phase of tissue regeneration, and in progressive tissue remodelling.  相似文献

Spunbonding is one of the most widely used processing techniques to convert polymers into nonwoven fabrics. metallocene-catalyzed polypropylene is becoming more and more important. A study was carried out to understand the development of structure and properties of a metallocene-catalyzed isotactic polypropylene during spunbonding. This research was conducted using the Reicofil spunbond line at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The filaments at three different throughput rates were studied for tensile properties and for structural features by birefringence, X-ray diffraction, and thermal measurements. The fabrics produced at different process conditions were tested for various mechanical properties. The failure mechanism of the fabrics at different bonding temperatures was studied using the scanning electron microscope. The results are compared with a conventional polypropylene processed under similar conditions. The results showed that the mPP produced fabrics with better strength and elongation at comparable processing conditions. Also, failure mechanisms were found to be different for the fabrics produced from the two polymers, which are due to differences in the produced structures.  相似文献

In this paper, an effective approach, Taguchi grey relational analysis, has been applied to experimental results of wire cut electrical discharge machining (WEDM) on Inconel 825 with consideration of multiple response measures. The approach combines the orthogonal array design of experiment with grey relational analysis. The main objective of this study is to obtain improved material removal rate, surface roughness, and spark gap. Grey relational theory is adopted to determine the best process parameters that optimize the response measures. The experiment has been done by using Taguchi’s orthogonal array L36 (21?×?37). Each experiment was conducted under different conditions of input parameters. The response table and the grey relational grade for each level of the machining parameters have been established. From 36 experiments, the best combination of parameters was found. The experimental results confirm that the proposed method in this study effectively improves the machining performance of WEDM process.  相似文献

Effect of intermittent overload cycles on fatigue behavior of NiTi shape memory alloy wire during thermomechanical cycling (TMC) has been evaluated. Results showed that fatigue life of NiTi is enhanced when the intermittent overload is above certain minimum level. An enhancement in fatigue life by ~50 pct is observed when the overload ratio is 2.0. Accumulation of plastic strain in the material under such TMC condition is found to be relatively high compared to that of TMC with no overload cycles.  相似文献

In this study, large-size direct shear tests were conducted to determine the interfacial shear characteristics of sand–geotextile under three different normal stresses. The geotextiles used in the present study were hybrid needlepunched nonwovens containing defined weight proportions of jute and polypropylene fibers. Subsequently, the interfacial shear characteristics of hybrid and that of a nonwoven geotextile consisting of solely polypropylene fibers with sand were compared and analyzed under different normal stresses. Initial higher shear stiffness of sand-polypropylene geotextiles was observed corresponding to sand-hybrid geotextiles specifically under higher normal stresses. Nevertheless, the contact efficiency of sand-hybrid nonwovens was similar to that of sand-polypropylene geotextiles. The surface morphology of sand particles has been investigated based on the images obtained from scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and quantitatively analyzed by means of Wadell roundness and degree of angularity methods.  相似文献
