A NAM Representation Method for Data Compression of Binary Images

A representation method using the non-symmetry and anti-packing model (NAM) for data compression of binary images is presented.The NAM representation algorithm is compared with the popular linear quadtree and run length encoding algorithms.Theoretical and experimental results show that the algorithm has a higher compression ratio for both lossy and lossless cases of binary images and better reconstructed quality for the lossy case.

Panorama多数据库原型系统

Panorama可以给用户提供一个公共数据模型和一种全局查询语言PanoSQL,通过它们将不同的数据库集成到系统中。该系统的主要构件包括：集成到Panorama中的局部DBMs的接口、一个事务管理器、一个公共数据模型、一个模式集成器、一种全局查询语言、一个全局查询处理和优化器。讨论该系统的体系结构和组成,然后讨论该系统中的模式集成器,并讨论了系统的查询语言和查询处理。     

The interoperability of distributed DBMSs in a CORBA-based multidatabase system

One way of achieving interoperability among heterogeneous, distributed DBMs is through a multidatabase system. Recently, there is an increasing use of CORBA implementation in developing multidatabase systems. Panorama is a multidatabase system that has been implemented on the top of CORBA compliant namely VisiBroker. It aims to achieve interoperability among Oracle, Sybase and other different DMBSs through the registration of these DBMSs to Panorama and through the single global query language-PanoSQL designed for this system. In this paper, we first introduce CORBA for the interoperability in multidatabase systems. Then, a general view for our designed multidatabase system. Panorama, has been given. In section four, we introduce the global query language-PanoSQL designed to achieve interoperability among the different DBMSs implemented in Panorama. Then, as an example, we present the registration of Oracle to panorama in order to achieve interoperability in this system. And, finally, a conclusion and the future work for this system have been given. Registering different DBMSs to Panorama with CORBA

Recently, there is an increasing use of CORBA implementation in developing multidatabase systems. MIND and Panorama are some of the examples of multidatabase prototypes that have been implemented on the top of CORBA compliant namely ObjectBroker and VisiBroker respectively. They both aim to achieve interoperability among Oracle, Sybase and other different DBMSs through the registration of these DBMSs to them using CORBA. This registration to a CORBA-based multidatabase system offers an advanced way in achieving interoperability. We first introduce Panorama multidatabase system and discuss the basic implementation decisions in registering different DBMSs using the CORBA compliant ORB, namely VisiBroker to this system. Then, it aims to discuss the method we’ve used in registering different DBMSs to our designed multidatabase system-Panorama. A detailed discussion about the registration of Oracle 8 and sybase is given. And finally, a conclusion and the future work for this system have been given.     

Centralized Role-Based Access Control for Federated Multi-Domain Environments

The secure interaction among multiple security domains is a major concern. In this paper, we highlight the issues of secure interoperability among multiple security domains operating under the widely accepted Role Based Access Control （RBAC） model. We propose a model called CRBAC that easily establishes a global policy for roles mapping among multiple security domains. Our model is based on an extension of the RBAC model. Also, multiple security domains were composed to one abstract security domain. Also roles in the multiple domains are translated to permissions of roles in the abstract security domain. These permissions keep theirs hierarchies. The roles in the abstract security domain implement roles mapping among the multiple security domains. Then, authorized users of any security domain can transparently access resources in the multiple domains.
