Handwriting recognition is used for the prediction of various demographic traits such as age, gender, nationality, etc. Out of all the applications gender prediction is mainly admired topic among researchers. The relation between gender and handwriting can be seen from the physical appearance of the handwriting. This research work predicts gender from handwriting using the landmarks of differences between the two genders. We use the shape or visual appearance of the handwriting for extracting features of the handwriting such as slanteness (direction), area (no of pixels occupied by text), perimeter (length of edges), etc. Classification is carried out using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) as a classifier which transforms the nonlinear problem into linear using its kernel trick, logistic regression, KNN and at the end to enhance the classification rates we use Majority Voting. The experimental results obtained on a dataset of 282 writers with 2 samples per writer shows that the proposed method attains appealing performance on writer detection and text-independent environment.

The Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) technique was performed under the magnetic field influence to determine the material removal mechanism as well as surface roughness (SR) of nonmagnetic material. This study presents an exploration of the hybrid EDM technique assisted by magnetic field, with an aim to improve process performance. Herein, magnetic field intensity, peak current, duration of pulse-on/off, tool electrode material, and SiC percentage distribution were opted as the machining parameters. The chosen parameters were analyzed for their effects on the material removal rate (MRR) and SR while machining of SiC-reinforced aluminum-based metal matrix composites. Taguchi methodology was adopted for optimization of process parameters to achieve better MRR and lower SR. The experimental results witnessed improved surface finish and enhanced material removal ability of the process and also inferred that the magnetic field-assisted EDM facilitated the process stability.  相似文献

Cellulose ethers are important materials with numerous applications in pharmaceutical industry. They are widely employed as stabilizers and viscosity enhancers for dispersed systems, binders in granulation process and as film formers for tablets. These polymers, however, exhibit challenge during preparation of their aqueous dispersions. Rapid hydration of their surfaces causes formation of a gel that prevents water from reaching the inner core of the particle. Moreover, the surfaces of these particles become sticky, thus leading to agglomeration, eventually reducing their dispersion kinetics. Numerous procedures have been tested to improve dispersibility of cellulose ethers. These include the use of cross-linking agents, alteration in the synthesis process, adjustment of water content of cellulose ether, modification by attaching hydrophobic substituents and co-processing using various excipients. Among these, co-processing has provided the most encouraging results. This review focuses on the molecular mechanisms responsible for the poor dispersibility of cellulose ethers and the role of co-processing technologies in overcoming the challenge. An attempt has been made to highlight various co-processing techniques and specific role of excipients used for co-processing.  相似文献

Doped and co-doped ceria ceramics are used as electrolyte materials in solid oxide fuel cells. In this work, ceria-based oxides, Ce0.90Gd0.06Y0.02M0.02O2?δ (M?=?Ca, Fe, La, and Sr) were prepared by conventional as well as microwave processing from the precursors prepared by the mixed oxide method. The consolidated calcined powders in pellet form were sintered in microwave energy at 1400°C for 20 min and in an electric furnace of IR radiation at 1400°C for 6 h. The x-ray diffraction analysis confirmed that all the compositions were crystallized into a cubic fluorite structure. Surface morphology of the sintered products was studied using scanning electron microscopy and the microhardness was investigated using the Vickers hardness test. The comparative results analysis shows that the microwave-sintered samples have uniform grain growth, higher density and higher microhardness than the corresponding conventionally sintered products. The microwave-sintered sample of composition Ce0.90Gd0.06Y0.02Sr0.02O2?δ was found to have the highest microhardness among the four compositions due to its high density and smallest grain size.  相似文献

Effluents from the pharmaceutical and dye industries contain chlorinated organic pollutants. The effective treatment of such effluents constitutes a challenging task. In this work, 4-chlororesorcinol (PCRE) and 4-chloro-2-aminophenol (PCAP) were selected as model chloro-organic compounds. Catalytic hydrodechlorination (HDC) of PCRE and PCAP in the aqueous phase was investigated in a slurry reactor using commercial carbon supported ruthenium catalyst. HDC reactions of PCRE and PCAP were studied over the ranges in temperature, 313–353?K, H2 partial pressure, 0.69–2.76?MPa, and catalyst loading, 0.2–1.2?kg/m3. The performance of Ru/C catalyst for hydrodechlorination and ring saturation was promising. The kinetic data were modeled using Langmuir–Hinshelwood–Hougen–Watson kinetics. The HDC reaction of PCRE and PCAP using Ru/C catalyst proceeds via a dual-site mechanism, wherein atomic H2 reacts with the adsorbed organic substrate. The activation energy for the hydrodechlorination reactions of PCRE and PCAP was 41.6 and 49.4?kJ/mol, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a new analytical model for frequency as well as transient analysis of a 3-DOF gyro-accelerometer system having 2-DOF in drive and 1-DOF in sense direction respectively. The model constructs lumped parameter differential equations by vector analysis associated with each degree of freedom that comprises Coriolis action, Euler’s action and action due to external acceleration along with biasing counterparts. These coupled differential equations are then solved explicitly in the frequency domain by taking their Laplace transforms. Based on these formulations, a thorough system analysis has been carried out keeping in view the various parameters and issues related to the device design. Furthermore, a discriminating scheme for time varying angular rate and linear acceleration by combining the structural model of a gyro-accelerometer with the demodulation and filtering processes to investigate frequency response of a micro gyro-accelerometer has also been presented by taking into account the presently derived settled transient solution of sense mode response. Finally we have verified the present model with MATLAB Simulink, showing their excellent agreement with each other.  相似文献
