A series of novel copolymer superabsorbents based on monomer acrylamide (AM), potassium methacrylate (KMA), and 2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) were prepared by copolymerization using ammonium persulfate (APS) as an initiator and N,N‐methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a crosslinking agent. The synthetic variables (the monomer concentration, crosslinker concentration, and initiator concentration) were also studied. The experimental results of superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) show a better absorbency in both water and NaCl solutions. The copolymers were characterized by IR spectroscopy. The water retention in the soil was enhanced using the above superabsorbents. The use of SAPs for the growth of groundnut plants was also investigated. SAPs can be considered for water‐managing materials for agriculture and horticulture purposes in desert and drought‐prone areas. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The n-type GaN layers were grown by plasma-assisted MBE and either intentionally doped with Si or unintentionally doped. The optical characteristics of a donor level in Si-doped, GaN were studied in terms of photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy as a function of electron concentration. Temperature dependent PL measurements allowed us to estimate the activation energy of a Si-related donor from temperature-induced decay of PL intensity. PL peak positions, full width at half maximum of PL and activation energies are found to be proportional to the cube root of carrier density. The involvement of donor levels is supported by the temperature-dependent electron concentration measurements.  相似文献

The present work is aimed at optimizing the surface roughness of die sinking electric discharge machining (EDM) by considering the simultaneous affect of various input parameters. The experiments are carried out on Ti6Al4V, HE15, 15CDV6 and M-250. Experiments were conducted by varying the peak current and voltage and the corresponding values of surface roughness (SR) were measured. Multiperceptron neural network models were developed using Neuro Solutions package. Genetic algorithm concept is used to optimize the weighting factors of the network. It is observed that the developed model is within the limits of the agreeable error when experimental and network model results are compared. It is further observed that the error when the network is optimized by genetic algorithm has come down to less than 2% from more than 5%. Sensitivity analysis is also done to find the relative influence of factors on the performance measures. It is observed that type of material effectively influences the performance measures.  相似文献

Indium nitride (InN) epilayers have been successfully grown by nitrogen-plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (NPA-MBE) on Si (111) substrates using different buffer layers. Growth of a (0001)-oriented single crystalline wurtzite-InN layer was confirmed by high resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD). The Raman studies show the high crystalline quality and the wurtzite lattice structure of InN films on the Si substrate using different buffer layers and the InN/β-Si3N4 double buffer layer achieves minimum FWHM of E2 (high) mode. The energy gap of InN films was determined by optical absorption measurement and found to be in the range of ~ 0.73-0.78 eV with a direct band nature. It is found that a double-buffer technique (InN/β-Si3N4) insures improved crystallinity, smooth surface and good optical properties.  相似文献

Anaerobic digestion, microbial community structure and kinetics were studied in a biphasic continuously fed, upflow anaerobic fixed film reactor treating high strength distillery wastewater. Treatment efficiency of the bioreactor was investigated at different hydraulic retention times (HRT) and organic loading rates (OLR 5-20 kg COD m−3 d−1). Applying the modified Stover-Kincannon model to the reactor, the maximum removal rate constant (Umax) and saturation value constant (KB) were found to be 2 kg m−3 d−1 and 1.69 kg m−3 d−1 respectively. Bacterial community structures of acidogenic and methanogenic reactors were assessed using culture-independent analyses. Sequencing of 16S rRNA genes exhibited a total of 123 distinct operational taxonomic units (OTUs) comprising 49 from acidogenic reactor and 74 (28 of eubacteria and 46 of archaea) from methanogenic reactor. The findings reveal the role of Lactobacillus sp. (Firmicutes) as dominant acid producing organisms in acidogenic reactor and Methanoculleus sp. (Euryarchaeotes) as foremost methanogens in methanogenic reactor.  相似文献

NaCl crystals doped with AgSO4 have been grown in the laboratory and pure silver films of different thicknesses have been grown on the cleavages of doped and undoped crystals in a vacuum of the order of 10-5 torr at room temperature by thermal evaporation. The films have been examined in an electron microscope and the nucleation and growth processes have been studied and compared. It is observed that: (i) preferential nucleation occurs on doped cleavages whereas uniform nucleation occurs on the undoped cleavages; (ii) coalescence of nuclei takes place earlier in films grown on doped substrates than on undoped ones; and (iii) films on doped substrates grow epitaxially with (100) orientation. In mobile ad hoc network, the existing replication technique and multiversion scheme increase the cost of overhead. In addition, there is possibility of mobility- and energy-related issues. In order to overcome these issues, in this paper, we propose a hierarchical replication and multiversion concurrency control model for mobile database systems. In this technique, cluster heads (CHs) are selected based on the distance from the past node movements. When the client raises a query, the database server distributes the replicated data to the nearer cluster heads. When any CH observes that one of its members is about to move, then it suggests the nearest cluster having the same data object to the moving client, so that it can quickly access the data during its movement. For concurrency control, each CH maintains a concurrency table for each of its replicated data object. By simulation results, we show that the proposed technique reduces the overhead and energy consumption.  相似文献

A series of polymer supported cobalt complexes have been synthesized by the reaction of Co(II)‐SALEN (salicylaldehyde ethylenediimine) and other variations thereof with the chelating resin containing vinyl pyridine. The polymer supported complexes have been characterized by electronic and infrared spectra. The presence of polymer supports has a marked influence on the UV–visible bands observed in the electronic spectra of cobalt complexes. These polymer supported complexes are also investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The electronic spectral data and cyclic voltammetric data for free complexes and polymer supported complexes are compared. The discernible differences in the spectral and electrochemical data suggest the presence of pentacoordinate cobalt in the polymer matrix. © 2000 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献
