This paper presents us with a framework for the automatic player position detection (APPD) in the game of basketball. Court players are detected in the images broadcasted via television stations. In them, at any point of time, the view is from only one camera. This makes the detection process much more difficult. The player detection is based on the mixture of non-oriented pictorial structures. The detection of body parts is performed by the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm. The results of these detections are combined together with constraints on their locations, which specify the position of one body part with respect to the parent body part. In order to train the whole model, we used a latent form of SVM called the latent SVM (LSVM). Such approach generated the statistical accuracy of about 82 %, which represents one of the best results in basketball player detection framework. Beside players, the algorithm detected a certain number of false positive objects. These are mostly people from the audience and the referees as well. This paper contains a simple and robust solution to remove them all, based on the play court boundaries and the histogram comparison. Separating players in different teams is done by k-means clustering. The inputs to this algorithm are saturation histograms calculated on the jerseys. A spatial transformation is determined by the detected play court boundaries and the actual court measures. Using this transformation, points representing the location of detected players in TV images are mapped to the actual location of players on the court, which was the main goal of our research. The proposed solution is sound and efficient. In addition, it is backed up by the experimental results obtained using the model of the actual footage of basketball games.  相似文献

A simple formulation of pipelining: Pipelining withN stages is equivalent to retiming where the number of delays on all inputs or all outputs, but not both, is increased byN is used as the basis for a convenient and efficient treatment of pipelining in the design of application specific computers.Pipelining according to the objective function (throughput or resource utilization) and the latency is introduced. For two polynomial complexity pipelining classes, optimal algorithms are presented. For two other classes both proofs of NP-completeness and efficient probabilistic algorithms are presented. Both theoretical and experimental properties of pipelining are discussed and a relationship with other transformations is explored. Due to similar formulations for both software pipelining and the pipelining presented here, all results can be easily modified for use in compilers for general purpose computers. We have also developed a polynomial complexity algorithm for determining the iteration bound.This work was done while the first author was at the University of California, Berkeley.  相似文献

Superelastic (SE) and thermo-activated (TA) nickel–titanium (NiTi) archwires are used in everyday orthodontic practice, based on their acceptable biocompatibility and well-defined shape memory properties. However, the differences in their surface microstructure and cytotoxicity have not been clearly defined, and the standard cytotoxicity tests are too robust to detect small differences in the cytotoxicity of these alloys, all of which can lead to unexpected adverse reactions in some patients. Therefore, we tested the hypothesis that the differences in manufacture and microstructure of commercially available SE and TA archwires may influence their biocompatibility. The archwires were studied as-received and after conditioning for 24 h or 35 days in a cell culture medium under static conditions. All of the tested archwires, including their conditioned medium (CM), were non-cytotoxic for L929 cells, but Rematitan SE (both as received and conditioned) induced the apoptosis of rat thymocytes in a direct contact. In contrast, TruFlex SE and Equire TA increased the proliferation of thymocytes. The cytotoxic effect of Rematitan SE correlated with the higher release of Ni ions in CM, higher concentration of surface Ni and an increased oxygen layer thickness after the conditioning. In conclusion, the apoptosis assay on rat thymocytes, in contrast to the less sensitive standard assay on L929 cells, revealed that Rematitan SE was less cytocompatible compared to other archwires and the effect was most probably associated with a higher exposition of the cells to Ni on the surface of the archwire, due to the formation of unstable oxide layer.  相似文献

Viscoelastic properties in solid and in melt state of poly(ε‐caprolactone), PCL, nanocomposites with organomodified clays (Cloisite30B and Cloisite15A) are thoroughly investigated. Although WAXD is insensitive to the difference in the nanocomposites structure, the melt rheology reveals pronounced differences between the two series. Melt yield stress values, obtained from fittings by the Carreau–Yasuda model, are used as a measure of partial exfoliation of the clay. Temperature dependence of the shift factors, used for time–temperature superposition of the modulus curves, yields similar values of the flow activation energies for all the samples. Temperature dependences of the dynamic modulus and loss factor of solid nanocomposites were correlated to the structural differences deduced from the melt rheology. The increase in the storage modulus is compared to the theoretical predictions from the Halpin–Tsai model. The effective aspect ratio obtained from this comparison agrees reasonably with the value estimated from the melt rheology. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Concurrent milling of Bi4Ti3O12 was carried out in a planetary ball mill with hardened-steel 13 or 6 mm diameter balls with a goal to investigate how the system responds to the constrains imposed by milling. Milling intensity for various milling parameters was derived from the electrical power measurement. The reverse amorphous ↔ crystalline phase transition induced by milling is governed by impact energy and frequency. Below a certain threshold value of impact energy crystallization does not occur, whereas a higher impact frequency accelerates amorphization. Mechanochemical reactions are predominantly discrete processes, which occur at the moment of impact.  相似文献

Loop closing in vision based SLAM applications is a difficult task. Comparing new image data with all previously acquired image data is practically impossible because of the high computational costs. Most approaches therefore compare new data with only a subset of the old data, for example by sampling the data over time or over space by using a position estimate. In this paper, we propose a more natural approach, which dynamically determines a subset of images that best describes the complete image data in the space of all previously seen images. The actual problem of finding such a subset is called the “Connected Dominating Set” (CDS) problem, which is well studied in the field of graph theory. Application on large indoor datasets results in approximately the same map using only 13% of the computational resources with respect to comparing with all previous images. Also, it outperforms other sampling approaches. The proposed method is particularly beneficial for realistic mapping scenarios including moving objects and persons, motion blur and changing light conditions.1  相似文献

Alumina based particles were prepared from aluminium chloride hydroxide as starting material by sol-gel technique. One series of particles was doped with ferrous oxide. Both series of particles were calcinated at three different temperatures: 700?°C, 800?°C and 900?°C. Poly(methyl methacrylate), PMMA, was used as a matrix and two different types of alumina based particles were added into the matrix to form the composites. All composites consisted of 3?wt% of alumina based particles. The aim of this study was to examine whether and how the temperature of particle calcination affects the microhardness and mechanical properties of the composite. The particles were characterized by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and physical absorption methods. The morphology of the composites was examined using a field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). The microhardness of composites was measured using a traditional Vickers hardness (HV) method. The mechanical characteristics of obtained composites were determined using tensile test and impact testing.  相似文献

High temperature hydrothermal syntheses, using calcium nitrate tetrahydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate and urea as precursors, and characterization of hydroxyapatite (HAp) whiskers are reported herein. The morphology and chemical composition of the crystals from a monetite to a hydroxyapatite phase were controlled by varying the starting concentrations of the precursors and the solution pH through the amount of urea that is decomposed during heating. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, infrared spectroscopy (IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution TEM (HRTEM) were used to investigate the products of the syntheses in order to find the optimum reaction conditions for obtaining the desired morphology and phase composition. Different morphologies ranging from single crystals of monetite through rods and plates of hydroxyapatite with different size distribution to whisker-like single hydroxyapatite crystal were achieved by simply varying the starting concentration of urea. Structural refinement of the hydroxyapatite whiskers confirmed a strong preferential orientation along the c-axis direction of the hexagonal crystal structure, which was significantly different from the usually observed random crystal orientation. TEM and SEM analysis of the apatite whiskers confirmed single crystal structure with the a c-axis orientation parallel to the long axis of the whiskers, with sizes up to 150 μm in length, 10 μm in width and with a thickness of about 300 nm, that grew from the same centre of nucleation, forming flaky-like particles.  相似文献

The morphology and structure of bainite plates which formed in the ordered bcc β’ phase of a Ag-45 at. pct Cd alloy at temperatures 160 to 300°C were studied by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Initially, the plates formed with a 3R stacking fault modulation of the fcc structure and contained a high density of random stacking faults. The stacking faults annealed out during a prolonged isothermal treatment, the structure gradually changing to a regular fcc. The orientation relationship between the bcc matrix and the fcc bainite was as follows: [1•11]b 0.7 deg from [0•11]f, [110]b 1.1 deg from [l00]f and [011]b 4.3 deg from the stacking fault plane pole [111]f. The habit plane of the bainite plates, determined by two surface trace analysis, was close to (3, 11, 12)b. The surface relief of the plates, examined by interference microscopy, was in the form of a simple tilt indicating an invariant plane strain transformation. The features of the transformation agreed with the predictions of the Bowles-MacKenzie theory of martensite formation. It was concluded that the morphology, structure and other characteristics of the freshly formed bainite plates were consistent with their formation by a thermally activated martensitic process. formerly Research Associate, Department of Metallurgy, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, B.C., Canada.  相似文献
