Over the past 40 years mortality from carcinoma of the cervix has fallen due to improved treatment and theintroduction of national screening programs. Awareness and health-seeking practices have been shown to be poor inmany developing countries, necessitating the need for proper awareness and vaccination program The HPV vaccinationis of public health importance. The Indian Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Immunization (IAPCOI) recommendsoffering HPV vaccine to all females who can afford the vaccine. Vaccination can be given to females as young as9 years as well as in those aged 13–26 years who have not previously completed vaccination. The primary obstacleto HPV vaccination is financial. There are bivalent, Quadrivalent and Nonavalent HPV vaccines available based onprotection against number of HPV subtypes. HPV vaccination and regular cervical screening is the most effective wayto prevent cervical cancer. Parents/caregivers of child must be educated regarding HPV vaccination before offering thischemoprophylaxis against cervical cancer. Gaps and barriers to the access and delivery of HPV vaccination need to beidentified, so that scientific and public health communities and civil society can be mobilised to adopt the vaccinationpolicy. 相似文献

Recent advances in the understanding of Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis have led to the development of numerous compounds that might ameliorate the disease process. Research in the field of Alzheimer’s disease therapy has been partly successful in terms of developing symptomatic treatments, but also had several failures in terms of developing disease-modifying therapies. These successes and failures have led to a debate about the potential deficiencies in our understanding of the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease and potential pitfalls in diagnosis, choice of therapeutic targets, development of drug candidates, and design of clinical trials. Many clinical and experimental studies are ongoing, but we need to acknowledge that a single cure for Alzheimer’s disease is unlikely to be found and that the approach to drug development for this disorder needs to be reconsidered. Preclinical research is constantly providing us with new information on pieces of the complex Alzheimer’s disease puzzle, and an analysis of this information might reveal patterns of pharmacological interactions instead of single potential drug targets. Several promising randomized controlled trials are ongoing, and the increased collaboration between pharmaceutical companies, basic researchers, and clinical researchers has the potential to bring us closer to developing an optimum pharmaceutical approach for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. 相似文献

This paper presents the research results of one of the main technological parameters of belt grinding, i.e., the cutting speed while machining corrosion- and heat-resistant, structural carbon and structural alloy steels, aluminum, and heat-resistant nickel alloys. Experimental and analytical methods are used to establish the dependence of the output parameters of surface belt grinding on the cutting speed and tool characteristics. An analytical model, considering the physical and mechanical properties of the grinding belt (strength depending on the base and bond; the thermal conductivity; the type of grinding operation) and the machined material, is created to determine the belt grinding speed. The output parameters, such as the arithmetic mean of the surface roughness (Ra) and the material removal rate (MRR) during the belt grinding of steels, heat-resistant and light alloys, have been studied. Based on the empirical dependencies of the belt grinding parameters, the model was developed for the selection and setting of the cutting speed of belt grinding for the aforementioned alloys, taking into account the type of operation, the type of the machined material, and the main characteristics of the sanding belt. 相似文献

Feeding is a rhythmic behavior that consists of several component cycle types. How the timing of these cycles changes over a complete feeding sequence is not well known. To test the hypothesis that cycle frequency/duration changes as a function of time spent feeding, we examined complete feeding sequences in six infant pigs, using EMG of mylohyoid and thyrohyoid as cycle markers. We measured the instantaneous frequency of sucking and of swallowing cycles in 19 sequences. Each sequence contained three qualitatively distinctive phases of sucking frequency. Phase 1 started with cycles at a very high frequency and quickly dropped to a more constant level with low variation, which characterized phase 2. Phase 3 had a steady level of frequency but was interspersed with a number of high- or low-frequency cycles. Each phase differed from the others in patterns of within-phase variation and among-phase variation. Phase 2 had the least variation, and phase 3 had the largest range of frequencies. The number of sucks per swallow also differed among phases. These patterns, which characterize normative feeding, could indicate a physiologic basis in satiation. In human infant clinical studies, where data collection is often limited, these results indicated the utility of collecting data in different phases. Finally, these results can be used as a template or pattern with which to assess clinically compromised infants. 相似文献

Purpose: Lymphotoxin alpha (LTA), a proinflammatory cytokine, plays an important role in promoting atherosclerosis which is an independent risk factor for stroke. Recent genetic studies have suggested that polymorphisms in the LTA gene, which affect its expression and biological function, may contribute to the development of stroke. The aim of this case-control study was to determine the association between LTA (-252 A/G and -804 C/A) gene polymorphisms and risk of stroke. Methods: Genotyping was determined by using SNaPshot method for 250 ischemic stroke (IS) patients, 250 age and sex matched IS free controls, 100 intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) patients and 100 age and sex matched ICH free controls. Conditional logistic regression analysis with adjusting multiple demographic and risk factor variables was used to calculate the strength of association between LTA (-252 A/G and -804 C/A) gene polymorphisms and risk of stroke. The linkage disequilibrium (LD) was analyzed by using HaploView 4.2 software. Results: The distribution of LTA (-252 A/G and -804 C/A) genotypes was consistent with Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium. Adjusted conditional logistic regression analysis showed no significant association between LTA (-252 A/G and -804 C/A) gene polymorphisms and risk of both IS and ICH. Based on Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment (TOAST) classification, a significant association between LTA -252 A/G gene polymorphism and small vessel disease subtype of IS under dominant model (OR, 2.06; 95% CI, 1.03–4.12; p value 0.04) with the risk of IS was observed. No LD was observed for both single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in north Indian population. Conclusion: Neither -252 G/A nor -804 C/A polymorphism of the LTA gene was found to be associated with overall stroke as well as any subtype of IS excluding SVD in North Indian population. 相似文献
