Ultrasound was applied to a micropipette micromixer to improve dispersion of gas and liquid in a microchannel. Flow visualization using a high-speed camera was performed to examine the effect of ultrasonic irradiation on bubble generation in the microchannel. Basically, nitrogen gas was injected using a (0.5 µm ID) glass micropipette into ethanol flowing in a rectangular (100 µm×200 µm) microchannel on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). Gas and liquid flow rates were regulated using mass flow controllers. At aflow condition that is typical of bubbly flow, ultrasound was transmitted into the microchannel using a piezo-electric (PZT) transducer over a range of operating voltages (2 to 200 Vp-p) and frequencies (50 to 60 kHz). Images captured during the action of the PZT transducer indicate that bubble formation is influenced by ultrasound. When subjected to ultrasound above 50 Vp-p and at the resonant frequency of the PZT transducer, bubbles formed that were smaller and closer together, signifying enhanced shearing of the gas at the micropipette tip by the liquid. The observation of gas slugs occurring sooner might be attributed to the coalescence of gas bubbles that became closely spaced. 相似文献

New fluoroalkyl end-capped fullerene cooligomers were prepared by the reactions of fluoroalkanoyl peroxides with fullerene and comonomers such as acryloylmorpholine, N,N-dimethylacrylamide and acrylic acid. These fluorinated fullerene cooligomers were easily soluble in water and common organic solvents, and were able to reduce the surface tensions of both water and benzene, quite effectively. Additionally, these fullerene cooligomers were found to form a stable monomolecular film at the air-water interface, and the modified polystyrene surface treated with these cooligomers was shown to have a strong hydrophilicity with good oil repellency. 相似文献

Here, we reported that a new carbon electrode prepared with an activated carbon was superior to a Pt sputtered electrode as the counter electrode of dye-sensitized solar cells. The photovoltaic performance was largely influenced by the roughness factor of carbon electrode. As a soft and flexible porous structure, a pore array of a steroid cyclophane SC(OH), which consists of the rigid 1,6,20,25-tetraaza[6.1.6.1]paracyclophane
ring connected to four steroid moieties (cholic acid) through flexible L-lysine spacers, was prepared at the air-water interface.
As confirmed by surface pressure (π)-molecular area (A) isotherms, transition between open conformation and cavity conformation
of the SC(OH) molecule was reversibly induced upon repeated compression and expansion of its monolayer at pH 11 where amino
groups of the lysine residues are not fully deprotonated. Capture and release of an aqueous fluorescent guest (TNS) by SC(OH)
was observed upon dynamic cavity formation through surface fluorescence spectroscopy. At pH 12, dynamic cavity formation of
SC(OH) was sufficiently suppressed, and the capture and release of an aqueous TNS by the monolayer was not virtually observed.
Lessened electrostatic repulsion between the SC(OH) molecules due to conversion of ammonium to free amine may prevent the
cavity from reopening. The importance of dynamic nature of cavity formation on the guest binding was also proved by control
experiments using SC(H), which cannot form cavity conformation at any surface pressures at both pH 11 and 12. 相似文献

To determine the region of human tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-), essential for cytotoxic activity against mouse L-M cells,single amino-acid-substituted TNF- mutant proteins (muteins)were produced in Escherichia coli by protein engineering techniques.An expression plasmid for TNF- was mutagenized by passage throughan E.coli mutD5 mutator strain and by oligonucleotide-directedmutagenesis. Approximately 100 single amino-acid-substitutedTNF- muteins were produced and assayed for cytotoxic activity.The cytotoxic activities of purified TNF- muteins, e.g. TNF-31T,-32Y, -82D, -85H, -115L, -141Y, -144K and -146E, were < 1%of that of parent TNF-. These results indicate that the integrityof at least four distinct regions of the TNF- molecule is requiredfor full biological activity. These regions are designated asfollows: region I, from position 30 to 32; region II, from position82 to 89; region III, from position 115 to 117; region FV, fromposition 141 to 146. In addition, TNF-141Y could not completelycompete with parent TNF- for binding to the receptor. Summary This paper describes the so-called No Catalyst Copolymerization between dioxo-1,1-thiazetidine-1,2(Ethanesultam; ESm) and 2-methyl-2-oxazoline. The copolymerization took place without any added initiator to produce copolymers of MeOZO and ESm. The structure of the copolymer was determined by the IR and NMR spectra, elemental analysis, as well as by the result of an alkaline hydrolysis of the copolymer. Activity for hydrolysis of CCl2F2 (CFC12) on various metal sulfate was investigated. Zr(SO4)2 was found to be the most active while FeSO4, Cr2(SO4)3, Al2(SO4)3, La2(SO4)3 and Ce2(SO4)3 had intermediate activity. MnSO4, CoSO4, and MgSO4 showed low activity and SrSO4, CaSO4, and BaSO4 had even less activity. The major carbon containing product was CO2 and small amount of CClF3 and CO were formed over several sulfates. The crystal structure of the sulfates was stable during decomposition of CCl2F2, and the conversion reached a steady state after initial decrease at 275 °C over Zr(SO4)2 catalyst. The concentration of surface hydroxyl was larger than that over AlPO4-based catalysts and a reaction mechanism similar to that over AlPO4-based catalysts was proposed. 相似文献

The well-posedness problem (existence and uniqueness of solutions) of a class of multi-modal piecewise affine systems is addressed, where binary-switches individually act under autonomous switching. First, a new transition rule on the discrete state, called the switch-based transition rule, is introduced and some relations with the mode-based transition rule are discussed. Next, a sufficient condition for such a multi-modal system to be well-posed for all external inputs is derived in terms of well-posedness of its subsystems of lower complexity "bimodal systems". Finally, an easily checkable condition for the bimodal system to be well-posed for all external inputs is given, which consequently allows us to algebraically determine well-posedness of the multi-modal systems in question. 相似文献
