The differential effectiveness of group psychotherapy was estimated in a meta-analysis of 111 experimental and quasi-experimental studies published over the past 20 years. A number of client, therapist, group, and methodological variables were examined in an attempt to determine specific as well as generic effectiveness. Three different effect sizes were computed: active versus wait list, active versus alternative treatment, and pre- to posttreatment improvement rates. The active versus wait list overall effect size (0.58) indicated that the average recipient of group treatment is better off than 72% of untreated controls. Improvement was related to group composition, setting, and diagnosis. Findings are discussed within the context of what the authors have learned about group treatment, meta-analytic studies of the extant group literature, and what remains for future research. This paper presents the implementation of impedance control for a hydraulically driven hexapod robot named COMET‐IV, which can walk on uneven and extremely soft terrain. To achieve the dynamic behavior of the hexapod robot, changes in center of mass and body attitude must be taken into consideration during the walking periods. Indirect force control via impedance control is used to address these issues. Two different impedance control schemes are developed and implemented: single‐leg impedance control and center of mass‐‐based impedance control. In the case of single‐leg impedance control, we derive the necessary impedance and adjust parameters (mass, damping, and stiffness) according to the robot legs' configuration. For center of mass–based impedance control, we use the sum of the forces of the support legs as a control input (represented by the body's current center of mass) for the derived impedance control and adjust parameters based on the robot body's configuration. The virtual forces from the robot body's moment of inertia are adapted to achieve optimal control via a linear quadratic regulator method for the proposed indirect attitude control. In addition, a compliant switching mechanism is designed to ensure that the implementation of the controller is applicable to the tripod sequences of force‐based walking modules. Evaluation and verification tests were conducted in the laboratory and the actual field with uneven terrain and extremely soft surfaces. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Almost all the world’s food is grown in open fields, where plant phenotypes can be very different from those observed in greenhouses. Geneticists and agronomists studying food crops routinely detect, measure, and classify a wide variety of phenotypes in fields that contain many visually distinct types of a single crop. Augmenting humans in these tasks by automatically interpreting images raises some important and nontrivial challenges for research in computer vision. Nonetheless, the rewards for overcoming these obstacles could be exceptionally high for today’s 7 billion people, let alone the 9.6 billion projected by 2050 (United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Population Division, World Population Prospects: The 2012 Revision). To stimulate dialog between researchers in computer vision and those in genetics and agronomy, we offer our views on three computational challenges that are central to many phenotyping tasks. These are disambiguating one plant from another; assigning an individual plant’s organs to it; and identifying field phenotypes from those shown in archival images. We illustrate these challenges with annotated photographs of maize highlighting the regions of interest. We also describe some of the experimental, logistical, and photographic constraints on image collection and processing. While collecting the data sets needed for algorithmic experiments requires sustained collaboration and funding, the images we show and have posted should allow one to consider the problems, think of possible approaches, and decide on the next steps.  相似文献

Examined the use of professional psychologists as providers of group psychotherapy/counseling and the doctoral training of psychologists as group treatment providers in 2 national surveys of 287 service agencies and of the American Psychological Association-accredited counseling and clinical doctoral psychology programs. Results indicate that group treatment is a widely established treatment modality and that psychologists function as group service providers at most of the clinical agencies where they are employed. The survey of doctoral programs indicated that the curricula of doctoral training programs do not reflect the importance of the group modality in clinical setting. A time-varying acoustic channel may be estimated by an appropriate inference using the output from a periodic test signal. In this paper it is shown how to do this in a way that takes full account of the past history of the background noise and the past history of the channel. An explicit formula is obtained for the optimal linear estimator that may be used for rapid channel estimation for a given test signal when we know the autocovariance or power spectrum of the interfering noise and the autocovariance of the echo channel variation. Given this closed formula for the optimal estimator of the channel impulse response, an efficient method for determining the optimal test signal, subject to a constraint on the test signal power, given the history of the channel and the noise, is developed. We show that if the second order statistics of the channel or the noise are known, then the optimal test signal is not white. The method includes an explicit formula for the optimal test signal given a fixed estimator. A model of channel variation which is realistic while having less complexity than a full second-order statistical model, and therefore is more amenable to robust estimation, is used in the experiments which illustrate the performance of the optimal test signals and the channel estimation method. Matrix calculus identities required for the derivation of this expression for the optimal estimator are stated and proved in the Appendixes 1 and 2.  相似文献

A model of 2-person interaction in psychological counseling, which is derived from A. Schutz's (1967) phenomenological theory of social relations, and a computer-assisted metalanguage based on case-grammar theory are presented, and their applicability to the analysis of natural language in counseling is argued. The model specifies that counselor and client work to make each other's natural-language displays informative by tacitly expecting that any display of talk or other conduct will have as its context of interpretation the counselor or client's prior knowledge of (a) typical relationships of social interaction, and (b) methods of speaking that provide a recognizable structure to an utterance. Some preliminary findings are presented from a metalanguage analysis of the patterns of verb usage by a counselor and client in an actual series of counseling interviews. Findings are discussed in terms of the model and are treated as initial evidence of concerted action and of how the informative display of recognizable linguistic structures may act to bring about such coordinating actions.
