Stripping of Pu and Tc from tributyl phosphate solutions with carbohydrazide

Stripping of Pu from 30% tributyl phosphate solutions with carbohydrazide was studied. The degree of the Pu stripping drastically decreases with an increase in acidity and increases with an increase in the carbohydrazide concentration and in temperature. The Pu(IV) reduction rate in the two-phase system is sufficiently high to perform the reductive stripping of Pu with carbohydrazides both in mixer-settlers and in centrifugal extractors. Stripping of Tc at high phase ratio (O/W = 30) with carbohydrazide, hydrazine, and U(IV) in a mixture with hydrazine was studied. At low acidity (<1 M HNO₃) and 30?C35°C, carbohydrazide allows more than 80% stripping of Tc from 30% TBP solutions even at high volume ratio of the phases.     

Problems of regional energy provision in the energy strategy of Russia to 2030 and prospects for low-capacity nuclear power plant development

One problem of energy policy is stimulation of comprehensive development of a regional power supply, including power generation by low-capacity nuclear power plants in the regions where such sources could be competitive. Variants of the power supply for the Chaun-Bilibono isolated power system are examined as an example of the validation of the choice of promising power supplies for isolated northern regions where low-capacity nuclear power plants can be used. It is shown that the disproportions in regional power supplies in the country can be reduced by building low-capacity nuclear power plants. Their role and place in providing power in different regions must be examined from the systems standpoint taking account of their combined operation as part of electric power systems as well as economic, ecological, and social criteria.     

Hyperfine interactions of copper ions in the structure of high-temperature superconductors

Emission Mössbauer ⁶¹Cu(⁶¹Ni) spectra of simple MgO, NiO, Cu₂O, CuO oxides and superconducting La_{2 ? x} Sr _x CuO₄, Nd_{2 ? x} Ce _x CuO, and YBa₂Cu₃O_{7 ? x} copper metal oxides have been measured. It has been shown that emission Mössbauer spectroscopy on isotopes ⁶¹Cu(⁶¹Ni) makes it possible to determine the parameters of the electric gradient field tensor and magnetic field values in the copper sites of lattices of high-temperature superconductors and related materials.     

Boric acid and borax as antiscoring additives to glycerin-based lubricant

Boric acid and borax, which are used as antiscoring additives to an environmentally friendly glycerin-based lubricant, have been studied. It is shown that the adsorption of borax obeys the Langmuir isotherm. The equilibrium constants of the adsorption of the additives and the energy of the adsorption are estimated. It has been found that borax is a more effective antiscoring additive than boric acid. For borax used as the additive, the dependence of the coefficient of friction on the load applied to a friction unit is studied and interpreted.
