Stabilization of water suspensions of metal powders

Sedimentation stability of water suspensions of dispersed metal powders with water-soluble high-molecular compounds (HMC) added is investigated by a method of analyzing the kinetics of their sedimentation. When stabilizing by polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) the concentration regions of sedimentation stability for the suspensions are determined. The stabilization is explained according to the model of formation of coagulation HMC layers on metal particles. The dependence of the coagulation layer thickness on the concentration of PVA in the solution is estimated.Republican Engineering-and-Technical Center of Powder Metallurgy, Perm'. Free convective flow on a vertical plate with a constant heat flux in the presence of one or more steps

We carried out an experimental investigation of free convective heat transfer on a vertical plate subjected to a constant heat flux in the presence of one or several rectangular steps. Temperature fields were investigated with the help of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. During the experiment the Rayleigh number changed from zero to Ra=2.8·10³. The flow was observed by the method of track visualization by means of a laser knife. Durectly behind a step we observed a circulating free convective flow having the shape of two oppositely rotating vortices.Academic Scientific Complex A. V. Shadow method for measuring the average electron density in an ionized gas flow induced by a high-frequency barrier discharge

The electron density distribution in an ionized gas flow induced by a high-frequency barrier discharge has been investigated by an optical method. It has been shown that ion acceleration occurs mainly near the minima of the electron density, and the extremes in the temperature distribution are in antiphase with the corresponding extremes of the electron density. Influence of accidental impurities and defects on the low-frequency dielectric relaxation in the ferroelectric Cd2Nb2O7

It is shown that accidental impurities and structural defects (cation vacancies) formed in the (CdO₈) ⁿ⁻² sublattice during synthesis enhance the relaxation properties of the system near T _Curie and suppress the ferroelectric phase transition.
