We consider the parallelization of two standard 2D reconstruction algorithms, filtered backprojection and direct Fourier reconstruction, using the data-parallel programming style. The algorithms are implemented on a Connection Machine CM-5 with 16 processors and a peak performance of 2 Gflop/s.  相似文献

Cholecystokinin (CCK) plays an important role in both the alimentary tract and the central nervous system (CNS). At present it seems to be the most abundant neuropeptide in the CNS. This paper reviews the CCK neuronal system and its interactions with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT). In addition, its putative role in anxiety will be discussed on the basis of animal data and studies in healthy volunteers and panic disorder patients. According to these investigations, the CCK4 challenge test fulfills most criteria for an ideal panicogenic agent and evidence has been found that CCKB receptor antagonists might possess anxiolytic properties in man.  相似文献

Three studies investigated how three personality prototypes (K. York & O.P. John, 1992) relate to J. Loevinger's (1976) stages of ego development (ED). Study 1 examined their conceptual similarities, and Study 2 their relations in a sample of adult women. In both studies, the personality prototypes mapped onto regions defined by multiple ED stages: The Individuated prototype was most likely to reach the high region of ED (Individualistic, Autonomous, and Integrated); the Traditional prototype was most likely to function in the middle region (Conformist, Self-aware, and Conscientious); and the Conflicted prototype was more likely to remain in the low region (Impulsive and Self-protective). In addition to these between-prototype differences, Study 3 explored whether differences in life outcomes within the prototypes are also related to ED; findings suggest that personality prototype and ego development may interact in shaping the life course.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The results of open pilot studies suggest that the serotonin-1A (5-HT1A) receptor agonist buspirone might be effective in social phobia. METHOD: In the present study, the efficacy of buspirone was investigated in patients with social phobia using a 12-week double-blind placebo-controlled design. Thirty social phobic patients (DSM-IV) were treated with either buspirone 30 mg daily or placebo. Efficacy of treatment was measured using the Social Phobia Scale (subscores anxiety and avoidance) and the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety. RESULTS: Taking a reduction of 50% or more on the Social Phobia Scale as a criterion for clinically relevant improvement, only 1 patient on buspirone and 1 on placebo were classified as responder to treatment. A subjective and clinically relevant improvement was reported by 4 patients (27%) on buspirone and 2 patients (13%) on placebo. There were no statistically significant differences between buspirone and placebo on any of the outcome measures. Generally speaking, buspirone was well tolerated. CONCLUSION: The results of the study do not support the results of open studies, in which a reduction of social anxiety and social avoidance was reported in patients with social phobia treated with buspirone.  相似文献

Process mining enables organizations to analyze data about their (business) processes. Visualization is key to gaining insight into these processes and the associated data. Process visualization requires a high‐quality graph layout that intuitively represents the semantics of the process. Process analysis additionally requires interactive filtering to explore the process data and process graph. The ideal process visualization therefore provides a high‐quality, intuitive layout and preserves the mental map of the user during the visual exploration. The current industry standard used for process visualization does not satisfy either of these requirements. In this paper, we propose a novel layout algorithm for processes based on the Sugiyama framework. Our approach consists of novel ranking and order constraint algorithms and a novel crossing minimization algorithm. These algorithms make use of the process data to compute stable, high‐quality layouts. In addition, we use phased animation to further improve mental map preservation. Quantitative and qualitative evaluations show that our approach computes layouts of higher quality and preserves the mental map better than the industry standard. Additionally, our approach is substantially faster, especially for graphs with more than 250 edges.  相似文献

Selective, high-efficiency separations of intact bacteria may, in some cases, allow them to be identified and quantified in much the same way that molecules are done today. Two different capillary electrokinetic approaches were utilized. The first approach used a dissolved polymer-based CE separation that may be affected by size and shape considerations. Another approach uses capillary isoelectric focusing to separate bacteria by their surface charge or isoelectric point. Good peak shapes and extremely high efficiencies are observed (up to approximately 1,600,000 theoretical plates/m). Careful sample preparation and separation runs are essential in order to obtain reproducible separations. Expansion of these types of rapid, efficient microbial separations could have profound effects on many branches of science and technology.  相似文献

Contour detection based on nonclassical receptive field inhibition   总被引:12,自引:0,他引:12  
We propose a biologically motivated method, called nonclassical receptive field (non-CRF) inhibition (more generally, surround inhibition or suppression), to improve contour detection in machine vision. Non-CRF inhibition is exhibited by 80% of the orientation-selective neurons in the primary visual cortex of monkeys and has been shown to influence human visual perception as well. Essentially, the response of an edge detector at a certain point is suppressed by the responses of the operator in the region outside the supported area. We combine classical edge detection with isotropic and anisotropic inhibition, both of which have counterparts in biology. We also use a biologically motivated method (the Gabor energy operator) for edge detection. The resulting operator responds strongly to isolated lines, edges, and contours, but exhibits weak or no response to edges that are part of texture. We use natural images with associated ground truth contour maps to assess the performance of the proposed operator for detecting contours while suppressing texture edges. Our method enhances contour detection in cluttered visual scenes more effectively than classical edge detectors used in machine vision (Canny edge detector). Therefore, the proposed operator is more useful for contour-based object recognition tasks, such as shape comparison, than traditional edge detectors, which do not distinguish between contour and texture edges. Traditional edge detection algorithms can, however, also be extended with surround suppression. This study contributes also to the understanding of inhibitory mechanisms in biology.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: Development of a method for semiautomated preparation of purified, representative and conventionally stained monolayer smears from bronchial secretions suitable for subjective and/or automated cytodiagnosis. STUDY DESIGN: Bronchial secretions from 50 patients with and 48 without carcinoma cells of different types were collected in Saccomanno's fixative. After routine pick-and-smear processing, residual material was subjected to a mucolytic agent (ammonium thioglycolate). Separation of cells was performed by differential centrifugation through aqueous sucrose. The pellet was automatically processed by the AutoCyte PREP system. RESULTS: Slides revealed well-preserved, slightly shrunken, homogeneously distributed cells devoid of mucus, cellular debris and bacteria in monolayer arrangement nearly without overlap. Granulocytes were eliminated to a large extent. Comparison with pick-and-smear specimens showed more tumor cells per square centimeter of slide surface in 100% of AutoCyte PREP slides. The number of tumor cells per AutoCyte PREP slide was higher in 46% and lower in 54%. Selecting slides at random and requiring at least 10 abnormal cells to establish a tumor diagnosis were achieved in 82.7% if only one, in 88.0% if two and 94.0% if seven or eight AutoCyte PREP slides were investigated. CONCLUSION: The semiautomated method yielded conventionally stained, purified monolayer smears from bronchial secretions with cellular morphology suitable for evaluation by cytologists and screening machines. Representativity of AutoCyte PREP monolayers was superior to that of pick-and-smear slides.  相似文献

Objective: To examine the influence of parental solicitousness on self-reported somatic complaints in school-age children. Design and Main Outcome Measures: Participants were 564 children (mean age 10 years) and their parents. Children completed self-report measures of somatic complaints, parental solicitousness, depressiveness, fear, and sense of coherence. Somatic complaints were assessed again 6 months later. Parents also completed a questionnaire about solicitousness. Results: Parental solicitousness as reported by children or parents was unrelated to the frequency of self-reported somatic complaints. Symptoms of depression, fear, and lower sense of coherence were associated with more somatic complaints, but did not interact with parental solicitousness. Conclusion: Parental solicitousness seems unrelated to more frequent somatic complaints in schoolchildren. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)  相似文献
