Chronic inflammation contributes to an increased risk for developing chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer. A high “inflammatory load” is defined as elevated inflammation markers in blood or other tissues. We evaluated several markers of systemic inflammation from healthy adults and tested the hypothesis that two formulations of encapsulated fruit and vegetable juice powder concentrate with added berry powders (FVB) or without (FV) could impact markers of inflammatory load. Using a double‐blind, placebo‐controlled approach, 117 subjects were randomly assigned to receive placebo, FV, or FVB capsules. Blood was drawn at baseline and after 60 d of capsule consumption. We measured inflammatory markers (high sensitivity C‐Reactive Protein, Monocyte Chemotactic Protein‐1, Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 1‐β, and Regulated upon Activation, Normal T cell Expressed and Secreted), superoxide dismutase, and micronutrients (β‐carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E). Results showed Monocyte Chemotactic Protein‐1, Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 1‐β, and RANTES levels were significantly reduced and superoxide dismutase and micronutrient levels were significantly increased in subjects consuming both FV and FVB, relative to placebo. Data suggest a potential health benefit by consuming either formulation of the encapsulated juice concentrates through their anti‐inflammatory properties.  相似文献

In recent years, a trend of electronic health record (EHR) system can be seen increasingly in the hospitals, which has generated huge amount of electronically stored data of patients. Association rule mining technique is very helpful in the numerous applications of healthcare (e.g., correlation between disease and symptoms, disease and offering effective treatment and predicting risks of disease based on the historical data, etc.). The data collected by an EHR system are very important for the medical research. Currently, a patient health report is derived on the basis of a physician’s own experience and on the association rule mining results of a local EHR system maintained by a particular hospital. Association rule mining results will be more accurate if the data of all local EHR systems are integrated and association rule mining is performed. Integration of local EHR systems requires the sharing of local EHR data. Sharing of patient records violates the privacy of patients. Hence, medical research is focused on the problem of mining association rules without sharing of local private EHR data. Privacy-preserving distributed association rule mining (PPDARM) solves this issue by mining the association rules while preserving the privacy of patients. In this paper, an approach for the PPDARM is proposed for collaboratively performing association rule mining by all local EHR systems while preserving the privacy. The proposed approach is also analysed with the heart disease dataset.  相似文献

Although there are several factors contributing to the difficulty in meeting distributed real time transaction deadlines, data conflicts among transactions, especially in commitment phase, are the prime factor resulting in system performance degradation. Therefore, design of an efficient commit protocol is of great significance for distributed real time database systems (DRTDBS). Most of the existing commit protocols try to improve system performance by allowing a committing cohort to lend its data to an executing cohort, thus reducing data inaccessibility. These protocols block the borrower when it tries to send WORKDONE/PREPARED message [1, 6, 8, 9], thus increasing the transactions commit time. This paper first analyzes all kind of dependencies that may arise due to data access conflicts among executing-committing transactions when a committing cohort is allowed to lend its data to an executing cohort. It then proposes a static two-phase locking and high priority based, write-update type, ideal for fast and timeliness commit protocol i.e. SWIFT. In SWIFT, the execution phase of a cohort is divided into two parts, locking phase and processing phase and then, in place of WORKDONE message, WORKSTARTED message is sent just before the start of processing phase of the cohort. Further, the borrower is allowed to send WORKSTARTED message, if it is only commit dependent on other cohorts instead of being blocked as opposed to [1, 6, 8, 9]. This reduces the time needed for commit processing and is free from cascaded aborts. To ensure non-violation of ACID properties, checking of completion of processing and the removal of dependency of cohort are required before sending the YES-VOTE message. Simulation results show that SWIFT improves the system performance in comparison to earlier protocol. The performance of SWIFT is also analyzed for partial read-only optimization, which minimizes intersite message traffic, execute-commit conflicts and log writes consequently resulting in a better response time. Electronic and magnetic properties of PrNi and PrNi–H have been investigated by using first principles approach. Calculations are performed using full potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbitals method including spin-polarization within the frame work of density functional theory. The electronic exchange–correlation energy is described by generalized gradient approximation. The ground state of both the compounds is base-centered orthorhombic CrB structure. The hydrogen stored in PrNi, i.e., PrNi–H has been studied to analyze the effective changes in magnetic moments and electronic structures in comparison with PrNi. The total cell energy of the hydrogenated PrNi compound has been found to be lower than in PrNi compound. The decrease in the cell energy shows more stability of the hydrogenated PrNi at ambient conditions. The values for total and local magnetic moments decrease on hydrogen insertion in PrNi. A comparative study of the projected density of states in both the compounds has also been presented. Both the compounds are found metallic in nature.  相似文献

Sulfurization of copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) thin films solar cell absorber has been used to enhance the open-circuit voltage of the device by increasing the band gap of the absorber near the interface. Sulfurization of a homogeneous co-evaporated Cu(InGa)Se2 thin film was studied in hydrogen sulfide and in a mixture of hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen selenide gases with the inclusion of oxygen. The structural and compositional properties of the absorber layer were investigated by XRD, EDS and AES. Sulfurization in hydrogen sulfide gas forms a fully converted sulfide layer at the top of the absorber layer, which in turn forms a barrier for the current collection. Sulfurization in a mixture of hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen selenide gases forms a wide band gap Cu(InGa)(SeS)2 layer at the surface, but at the same time there is Ga diffusion away from the surface with the inclusion of sulfur at the surface.  相似文献

Nitrate and perchlorate salts of 2,4,6-trimethylaniline have been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography and gravimetric analyses. Their thermal decomposition has been studied by TG, TG–DSC and ignition/explosion delays. It has been observed that proton transfer from substituted anilinium ion to nitrate and perchlorate ion regenerate amine, HNO3 and HClO4 in condensed phase at higher temperature, where oxidation–reduction between amine and acids leads to ignition and explosion. The kinetics of thermal decomposition was evaluated by applying model fitting as well as isoconversional methods. The values of calculated activation energy of nitrate and perchlorate salts are 77.9 and 118.2 kJ mol?1 respectively. The possible pathways of thermolysis of these salts have also been proposed.  相似文献
