Fault tolerance and self-checking capabilities are key features of modern smart sensors, which often require the integration of additional signal processing facilities. In high-volume production areas such as automotive applications, however, optimized controllers are employed that typically have only limited computing resources. This paper examines several algorithms to assess the noise in a quasi-closed loop measurement channel under the assumption that the stimulus can be held constant during noise measurement. Starting from the definition of standard deviation, we propose several modifications and obtain an easy-to-implement algorithm relying entirely on addition and shift operations. Numerical experiments based on simulated and measured noise verify the practicability of the approach. The proposed algorithm has already been successfully implemented in a capacitive angular speed sensor system for automotive applications.  相似文献

Application Layer Traffic Optimization (ALTO) has recently gained attention in the research and standardisation community as a way for a network operator to guide the peer selection process of distributed applications by providing network layer topology information. In particular P2P applications are expected to gain from ALTO, due to the many connections peers form among each other, often without taking network layer topology information into account. In this paper, we present results of an extensive intra-ISP trial with an ALTO-enhanced P2P filesharing software. In summary, our results show that—depending on the concrete setting and on the distribution of upload capacity in the network—ALTO enables an ISP to save operational costs significantly while not degrading application layer performance noticeably. In addition, based on our experience we are able to give advice to operators on how to save costs with ALTO while not sacrificing application layer performance at all.  相似文献

The thermal actuator presented in this paper consists of two symmetrically V-shaped beam stacks, where each stack consists of six beams in parallel. The stacks are coupled facing each other and slightly shifted along the mirror axis. Both stacks are connected to a lever beam and fixed at four anchor regions to the substrate. Due to the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion of the material of the beams and the one of the substrate, the tip of the lever moves perpendicular to the mirror axis. The device is fabricated from galvanic deposited nickel on a silicon substrate. Finite element simulations were carried out to optimize the design with respect to the sensitivity and the maximum mechanical stress. The stress needs to be lower than the yield strength of the material. Otherwise, plastic deformations of the beams would lead to irreversible deflections of the beam tip. This limits the overall sensitivity of the design. First results of the device with 400 μm long bent beams show a linear behavior and a sensitivity of 0.5 μm/K and forces of 66 μN/K for a temperature range of ?30 °C up to +40 °C.  相似文献
