In this article we prove a Riemann-Roch-Grothendieck theorem for the characteristic classes of a flat vector bundle over a foliation whose graph is Hausdorff. We assume that the strong foliation Novikov-Shubin invariants of the flat bundle are greater than three times the codimension of the foliation. Using transgression, we define a torsion form which in the odd acyclic case determines a Haefliger cohomology class which only depends on the foliation and the flat bundle. We construct examples where this torsion class is highly non-trivial.  相似文献

Two preconditioning techniques for solving difference equations arising in finite difference approximation of elliptic problems on cell-centered grids are studied. It is proven that the BEPS and the FAC preconditioners are spectrally equivalent to the corresponding finite difference schemes, including a nonsymmetric one, which is of higher-order accuracy. Numerical experiments that demonstrate the fast convergence of the preconditioned iterative methods (CG and GCG-LS in the nonsymmetric case) are presented.  相似文献

The goal of this work is to derive and justify a multilevel preconditioner of optimal arithmetic complexity for symmetric interior penalty discontinuous Galerkin finite element approximations of second order elliptic problems. Our approach is based on the following simple idea given in [R.D. Lazarov, P.S. Vassilevski, L.T. Zikatanov, Multilevel preconditioning of second order elliptic discontinuous Galerkin problems, Preprint, 2005]. The finite element space of piece-wise polynomials, discontinuous on the partition , is projected onto the space of piece-wise constant functions on the same partition that constitutes the largest space in the multilevel method. The discontinuous Galerkin finite element system on this space is associated to the so-called “graph-Laplacian”. In 2-D this is a sparse M-matrix with -1 as off diagonal entries and nonnegative row sums. Under the assumption that the finest partition is a result of multilevel refinement of a given coarse mesh, we develop the concept of hierarchical splitting of the unknowns. Then using local analysis we derive estimates for the constants in the strengthened Cauchy–Bunyakowski–Schwarz (CBS) inequality, which are uniform with respect to the levels. This measure of the angle between the spaces of the splitting was used by Axelsson and Vassilevski in [Algebraic multilevel preconditioning methods II, SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 27 (1990) 1569–1590] to construct an algebraic multilevel iteration (AMLI) for finite element systems. The main contribution in this paper is a construction of a splitting that produces new estimates for the CBS constant for graph-Laplacian. As a result we have a preconditioner for the system of the discontinuous Galerkin finite element method of optimal arithmetic complexity.  相似文献

The absorbance signal in electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry is a result of the processes of atom formation and dissipation and first of all depends on the initial generation of atoms from the surface. The rising part of the absorbance time profiles can be used for characterization of the release of the metals like Pd, Ag, Au etc. The method is applied to investigate the palladium release from a pyrocoated graphite support at different initial masses of the Pd. The kinetic parameters are evaluated and conclusions about the distribution of palladium on the graphite surface are made. The estimated values of apparent activation energies depend on the initial mass of analyte. The advantages and limitations of the present approach are discussed.  相似文献

Electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry is applied to investigate the release of the selenium and tin atoms from pyrocoated graphite support. The Coats and Redfern and Sturgeon approaches are used for estimation of the apparent activation energies of atom release. The addition of tungsten and palladium modifiers leads to enhancement of the activation energies and changes the kind of the vaporizing species for analytes.  相似文献

Local refinement techniques for elliptic problems on cell-centered grids   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Summary Algebraic multilevel analogues of the BEPS preconditioner designed for solving discrete elliptic problems on grids with local refinement are formulated, and bounds on their relative condition numbers, with respect to the composite-grid matrix, are derived. TheV-cycle and, more generally,v-foldV-cycle multilevel BEPS preconditioners are presented and studied. It is proved that for 2-D problems theV-cycle multilevel BEPS is almost optimal, whereas thev-foldV-cycle algebraic multilevel BEPS is optimal under a mild restriction on the composite cell-centered grid. For thev-fold multilevel BEPS, the variational relation between the finite difference matrix and the corresponding matrix on the next-coarser level is not necessarily required. Since they are purely algebraically derived, thev-fold (v>1) multilevel BEPS preconditioners perform without any restrictionson the shape of subregions, unless the refinement is too fast. For theV-cycle BEPS preconditioner (2-D problem), a variational relation between the matrices on two consecutive grids is required, but there is no restriction on the method of refinement on the shape, or on the size of the subdomains.  相似文献

The activity of amorphous and crystalline Cu60Zr40 alloys has been studied. Preoxidation of the alloys results in enhanced activity. The amorphous samples reveal a lower catalytic activity. An active catalyst for the oxidation of CO is obtained from the crystalline copper-zirconium alloy.  相似文献
