Effect of beditine on the cerebral circulation and various metabolic parameters

Beditin, or 2-(2-amino-4-thiazolyl)-1,4-benzodioxane hydrochloride, is a new benzodioxane derivative possessing antihypoxant and alpha 2-adrenoreceptor blocker properties. In contrast to idazoxan, a well-known alpha 2-adrenoreceptor blocker, beditin (3 mg/kg) significantly increases the circulation rate and decreases the blood vessel resistance in various brain structures of rats and cats without considerably changing their systemic hemodynamic indices. Upon a one-side ligation of the common carotid artery in rats, beditin prevented a sharp increase in the lactate dehydrogenase activity and a growth in the content of free ammonia in the brain, which are characteristic of the ischemic states. The ammonia-eliminating effect of beditin is related to an increase in the glutamate dehydrogenase activity in the reductive amination reaction.     

Effects of manual therapy on pain reflex syndromes and various hemocoagulation parameters in patients with ischemic heart disease after surgical treatment

AIM: To evaluate effects of manual therapy on clinical manifestations, hemocoagulation in CHD patients early after surgery. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Microcirculation, blood rheology, platelet count and aggregation by Born, plasma recalcification time according to Bergergof and Roka, plasma tolerance to heparin according to Gormsen, fibrinogen content by Bidwell in Andreenko's modification, the condition of vertebromotor segments were assessed in 68 CHD patients early after coronary artery bypass surgery (CABS). RESULTS: The addition of manual therapy to the complex of early rehabilitation measures in coronary patients early after CABS eliminates postoperative anginal attacks in 70% cases, reestablishes balance of cellular and plasma components of hemostasis, enhances fibrinolytic activity. CONCLUSION: The addition of manual therapy in the rehabilitation complex is recommended early after CABS.     

Reaction of respiration neurons in the medulla on locus coeruleus irritation by hypoxia]

Effects of locus coeruleus (LC) stimulation on the impulse activity of bulbar respiration neurons in rats were studied on a background of varying hypoxia. Different levels of hypoxia were used as an experiment model for ensuing summation of the LC effect. At the normal atmospheric pressure, LC electrical stimulation had an alleviating and also inhibiting effect on the impulse activity of these medulla neurons; however, the former effect was dominant. During the initial hypoxia simulating the altitude of 4000-5000 m, LC stimulation had a weak alleviating effect. On this level of hypoxia such effect is highly important, as unchecked strengthening of respiration activating mechanisms may result in excessive hyperventilation and consequent respiration slowing down to standstill because of low blood content of carbonic acid. During heavy hypoxia simulating the altitude of 7500-8000 m LC electrical stimulation had an intrinsic to this structure activating effect on markedly inhibited respiratory neurons. In the event of acute hypoxia the highly sensitive cortical component lose their inhibitory effect on the bulbar respiratory center and suprabulbary formations. However, this favours startup of the activating systems and enhancement of the respiration ventilatory function.     

Extended lymphadenectomy in stomach cancer]

The results of surgical treatment in 120 patients with cancer of the stomach have been analyzed. Metastatic involvement in all groups of lymphatic nodes was revealed in 68.3% cases, retroperitoneal metastases were detected in 46 patients (38.3%). 38 subtotal resections of the stomach and 82 gastrectomies with retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy R2 and R3 were performed. Esophagojejunoanastomosis end-to-end with a loop excluded by Roux was applied in 110 patients and esophagoduodenoanastomosis--in 10 patients. Insufficiency of esophagointestinal anastomosis was revealed in 3 patients. The rate of complications was 29.2%, lethality--8.3%. High rate of postoperative complications and lethality were explained by initially severe conditions of the patients (61%) and by complicated forms of gastric cancer in 6 patients. Improvement of early results of surgical interventions lies in the usage of antibacterial prophylaxis, preventive intravenous introductions of 5-fluorouracil, adequate drainage of the abdominal cavity, careful preparation and ligation in the course of the operation.

Physiotherapy in combination with psychotherapy produce a normalizing effect on functional-morphological condition of the gastrointestinal organs, correct alterations in the neuropsychic sphere and autonomic nervous system.
