Reaction between epoxidized natural rubber and poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) was investigated quantitatively in terms of conversion of the epoxidized natural rubber. The epoxidized natural rubber was prepared by epoxidation of high ammonia natural rubber (HA‐NR) or deproteinized natural rubber (DPNR) with peracetic acid followed by depolymerization with ammonium persulfate. The resulting liquid HA‐NR having epoxy group (LENR) or liquid DPNR having epoxy group (LEDPNR) were subjected to heating at 473 K for 20 min, after blending with PLLA. The products were characterized through morphology observation, DSC measurement, and 1H‐NMR spectroscopy. The conversions of the rubbers were estimated from intensity ratio of signals in 1H‐NMR spectrum for the products after removing unreacted rubber with toluene. Difference in the estimated conversion between the LENR/PLLA and LEDPNR/PLLA blends was interpreted in relation to proteins present in the rubber. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ABSTRACT: The effect of package and temperature on 2–acetyl-1–pyrroline content in milled aromatic rice during storage was investigated. 2 -Acetyl-1 -pyrroline content was decreased faster at higher storage temperature. However, fat acidity of rice was increased during storage and inversely correlated with 2–acetyl-1–pyrroline content at an early stage of storage. The difference in 2–acetyl-1 -pyrroline recovery from the samples, which were extracted with ethanol at 40 °C and 75 °C, revealed that the starch bound and free forms of 2–acetyl-1–pyrroline may occur in aromatic rice. These results suggested that the biosynthesis of 2–acetyl-1 -pyrroline before starch structure formation in rice kernel could play a key role in the aroma quality of aromatic rice.  相似文献

The removal of proteins from natural rubber through a batch process was studied by the incubation of the rubber latex with urea in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate. Under suitable conditions, the total nitrogen content of deproteinized natural rubber (DPNR) decreased from 0.38 to 0.02 wt % after incubation for 10 min; this was similar to that of the rubber deproteinized with a proteolytic enzyme for 12 h. For applications, continuous incubation and centrifugation were individually investigated by the use of a semicircular channel and a continuous centrifuge, respectively, to scale up DPNR preparation. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The effectiveness of compatibilizers in enhancing the dispersion of polypropylene (PP) at various molecular weights in recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET) was elucidated. The idea of incorporating PP of different molecular weights evolved from the intention of simultaneously recycling the PET bottles together with the PP‐based bottle caps, which are often of low molecular weight (Mw). Three grades of PP with known molecular weights were blended with RPET at various loadings of compatibilizers. Morphological analyses suggest that the dispersion of the PP particles was more homogeneous, and the average particle size was smaller when low Mw PP was incorporated. This indicates that the interaction between the compatibilizer and PP particles was more intense with the presence of a large number but shorter PP molecular chains. Moreover, specimens containing low Mw PP were found to remain homogeneous regardless of compatibilizer and PP content in the RPET/PP blends. The homogeneity of the blends significantly affected their mechanical performance as well. Higher stiffness, yield strength, deformability, and toughness were observed when low Mw PP was incorporated, regardless of PP and compatibilizer loadings. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This study investigates the presence of undeclared allergens - namely milk, egg, wheat and peanut - in commercial processed food products in Thailand. Out of 142 commercial products, 55 positive cases were found (by quantitative ELISA method) to contain an undeclared allergen greater than 10 ppm. Among all positive products, undeclared milk appeared the most frequently (21 cases), followed by egg and wheat with similar frequency (17 cases), while peanut was rarely found. Milk- or egg-positive products were further confirmed by the presence of the milk protein, casein, or the egg protein, ovalbumin, by Western blot test. Our results should help to increase the awareness among Thai food manufacturers of the need for more careful management of allergenic food ingredients, and to encourage the labeling of allergen information for allergic consumers, thus reducing the health hazard from food allergy.  相似文献

Preparation of hyperdeproteinized natural rubber was made from fresh latex and preserved high‐ammonia latex by treatment with urea in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate. Concentration of urea, temperature, and time for the incubation were investigated to remove the proteins effectively. Under the best conditions, the total nitrogen content and amount of allergenic proteins for the deproteinized rubbers were 0.005 wt % and 1.0 μg/ml, respectively, which were less than those of natural rubber deproteinized with proteolytic enzyme. Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) pulp, produced in large amounts as a by-product of starch manufacturing, is a major biomass resource in Southeast Asian countries. It contains abundant starch (approximately 60%) and cellulose fiber (approximately 20%). To effectively utilize the cassava pulp, an attempt was made to convert its components to ethanol using a sake-brewing yeast displaying glucoamylase on the cell surface. Saccharomyces cerevisiae Kyokai no. 7 (strain K7) displaying Rhizopus oryzae glucoamylase, designated strain K7G, was constructed using the C-terminal-half region of α-agglutinin. A sample of cassava pulp was pretreated with a hydrothermal reaction (140 °C for 1 h), followed by treatment with a Trichoderma reesei cellulase to hydrolyze the cellulose in the sample. The K7G strain fermented starch and glucose in pretreated samples without addition of amylolytic enzymes, and produced ethanol in 91% and 80% of theoretical yield from 5% and 10% cassava pulp, respectively.  相似文献

Fluidization technique was widely used to dry agriculture products because of its effectiveness in drying. To produce partial-parboiled rice using hot-air fluidization technique has been received increasing attention due to simplicity of operation. Thus, the purpose of this work was to investigate the effects of pre-steaming time and drying temperatures on qualities of partial-parboiled rice. The results revealed that head rice yield, pasting temperature and degree of gelatinization increased with an increase in pre-steaming time whereas white belly decreased. The percentage of water uptake of pre-steamed rice decreased with an increase in drying temperature while the percentage of solid loss and stickiness were not affected. The hardness of pre-steamed rice was higher than that of reference rice and it increased with an increase in drying temperature. To obtain the suitable conditions for producing partially-parboiled rice using hot-air fluidization technique, paddy was soaked at temperature of 80 °C for 5 h and then it was blown with saturated steam temperature of 102 °C for 70 s (pre-steaming). After that it was dried using fluidization technique at hot-air temperature of 140 °C for 2 min and then it was tempered for 30 min; furthermore, it was ventilated at ambient air temperature until the final moisture content was approximately 14–16% d.b.  相似文献

Reaction after mixing of liquid epoxidized natural rubber/poly(L ‐lactide) blend was performed to enhance the compatibility of the blend. The liquid epoxidized natural rubber was prepared by epoxidation of deproteinized natural rubber with peracetic acid in latex stage followed by depolymerization with peroxide and propanal. The resulting liquid deproteinized natural rubber having epoxy group (LEDPNR) was mixed with poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) to investigate the compatibility of the blend through differential scanning calorimetry, optical light microscopy, and NMR spectroscopy. After heating the blend at 473 K for 20 min, glass transition temperature (Tg) of LEDPNR in LEDPNR/PLLA blend increased from 251 to 259 K, while Tg and melting temperature (Tm) of PLLA decreased from 337 to 332 K and 450 to 445 K, respectively, suggesting that the compatibility of LEDPNR/ PLLA blend was enhanced by a reaction between the epoxy group of LEDPNR and the ester group of PLLA. Blending of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET) from waste bottles with polypropylene (PP) was performed in an attempt to enhance the processability of RPET. The idea of blending RPET with PP sprouted from the intention of recycling PET bottles together with their PP‐based caps. Therefore, preliminary blending of RPET with neat PP (RPET/PP) was performed at various PP and compatibilizer contents. Morphological analyses on the extruded pellets of uncompatibilized blends indicate that the PP particle size and state of dispersion at skin and core regions were vastly different. The particles at the skin were at least 10 times smaller than that at the core although the size distribution was very wide. With the incorporation of just 5 phr of compatibilizer, the particles at the core region became significantly smaller and appeared to emulate that of the skin region. Furthermore, the overall homogeneity of the blends was vastly improved irrespective of PP content in the blend. The reduction in particle size and improved homogeneity inherently reduced stress concentration points and enhanced the mechanical performance of the blends. More importantly, the incorporation of PP into RPET significantly increased the degradation temperature of the blends, provided the dispersion of PP phase in RPET was excellent. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
