In the present study of gas–liquid contactors, mean residence/contact time was calculated from knowledge of superficial velocity and the gas phase hold-up, for various gas rates and impeller geometry and speeds, and compared with values obtained from RTD measurements. A new correlation, involving Flow Number, Froude Number, system geometry and the physical properties, is proposed. This uses the authors data and those available in literature.  相似文献

Thermodynamic properties of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (C4mim[Cl]) ionic liquid were determined using thermogravimetric (TG) differential thermal analysis (DTA). A new method called DTA mass-difference baseline, was used to measure the heat capacity and enthalpy change of phase transformation of ionic liquid from DTA curves. Based on this, the changes in standard enthalpy, entropy, and Gibbs energy were determined. The results show that standard enthalpy and entropy changes of C4mim[Cl] increase nonlinearly with increasing temperature, while the standard Gibbs energy change decreases nonlinearly with increasing temperature within the temperature range studied (298–453 K). The standard enthalpy of melting and enthalpy of vaporization were determined to be 0.93 and 11.07 kJ/mol, respectively.  相似文献

The information model was conceived to address the complexities of managing large volumes of data, processes, designs, and tools that are shared by many business users with differing requirements. Because an information model derives much of its features from data models, the distinction between information modeling and data modeling is sometimes unclear. One perspective is that information modeling is context dependent: when a model is viewed as a representation scheme for users to comprehend, it is an information model. The oxygen-deficient phase of the highT c superconductor, YBa2Cu3O7, was oxygen-enriched using the fluidization technique to give good superconducting properties. The normal method of oxygen treatment at 900°C for 24 h and at 600°C for 24 h has been reduced to just one treatment at 600°C for 12 h by the fluidization technique to achieve almost the same strength of superconducting signal for the YBa2Cu3O7 powder, which establishes the attractiveness of the latter route for the large-scale preparation of superconducting material. The particle sizes were in the range 0–90, 90–180 and 180–420 μm. The fluidized particles were crystalline with orthorhombic distortion.T c onset , estimated using the a.c. magnetic susceptibility method, was 91·3 K. The volume fraction of superconducting material in the product was 83·7–85·3%, one of the highest values reported so far for YBa2Cu3O7.  相似文献

Metallic mating surfaces in structural joints offer a good source of frictional energy dissipation resulting in a damped dynamic structural response. This paper reports the results of experiments where the energy dissipation per cycle occurring at a preloaded flat metallic annular interface subjected to cyclic tangential forces is measured. The effects of certain pertinent joint variables on this frictional energy dissipation are investigated by the application of Response Surface Methodology. A central composite rotatable design was utilized for developing empirical expressions for energy loss. The methodology presented suggests a useful technique for tribological research.  相似文献

Fiber-matrix interfacial adhesion in thermoplastic composites is generally poor due to the lack of formation of strong covalent and/or ionic bonds between the generally inert thermoplastic resins and the surface of the reinforcing fiber. Adhesion can be improved by forming covalent linkages between the fiber and the matrix by grafting a polymer of appropriate compatibility, molecular weight, and sufficient density onto the surface of the fiber. We have grafted low molecular weight polycarbonate and polymethyl methacrylates onto the surface of carbon fibers and measured an improvement in the level of adhesion ranging from 25% to100% over the ungrafted composites. It was also observed that the level of improvement in adhesion appears to be independent of the molecular weight of the grafted polymer. Examination of the fracture surface of these composites reveals that the failure is cohesive in the matrix for the polymer grafted fiber composites, while it is adhesive for the ungrafted composites.  相似文献

Abstract

Interfacial adhesion of composite materials plays an important role in their mechanical properties and performance. In the present investigation, analysis of the interfacial properties of self-reinforced polyamide composites by using microbond multiple fibre pull-out test is emphasised. Microbond specimens prepared through thermal processing are tested for their interfacial properties by multiple fibre bundle pull-out tests and compared with that of traditional single fibre pull-out test specimens. Multiple fibre pull-out addresses the volume fraction as well as eliminates the possibility of fibre breakage before matrix shear. Higher scatter in the data in the samples is addressed in the present studies. FTIR and Fractographic studies are carried out for deep understanding of the post pull-out interfacial adhesion.  相似文献
