Using the sol–gel auto combustion method with diethanolamine (DEA) as fuel, a sequence of iron-substituted zinc aluminates, ZnFexAl2-xO4 powders, including variable Fe3+ ion concentrations (0 ≤ x ≤ 2) were effectively prepared. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) method, UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) were employed to examine the structures, chemical bonds, morphologies, composition, surface area, and optical properties as well as the magnetic behavior of the obtained samples. A single-phase spinel structure was obtained for the calcined aluminate powders with different interplanar spacing and crystallite sizes, as revealed by the classification results. The bandgap energy (Eg) of adapted aluminates was in the range of 2.04-3.14 eV, identified as being much lower compared to the pure sample (5.60 eV). Thus, Fe3+-substituted ZnAl2O4 samples could be successfully photoexcited using both ultraviolet and visible light, as suggested by the results. Examination of how the four main pollutant types decay when irradiated by sunlight was carried out to assess the samples and establish photocatalytic activity. These contaminants included rhodamine B (RhB), methylene blue (MB), methyl orange (MO), and methyl red (MR). The performance of photocatalytic degradation reached 98% after 150 min for all optimal samples of organic dyes. Besides, each of the altered photocatalysts could be recycled and displayed high stability. The S-shaped curve of ferrimagnetism can result in those samples as found by the magnetic measurements, though pure ZnAl2O4 displays diamagnetic characteristics. The adapted samples show intense improvement in the remanent magnetization (Mr) when compared to pure ZnAl2O4, signifying that magnetic photocatalyst recovery by applying an external magnetic field is easy. Thus, these results offer a convincing sign that ZnAl2O4 powders replaced by Fe3+ could provide the ability to aid in the ecologically friendly collection of solar energy.  相似文献

Mathematical model of pork slice drying using superheated steam   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Superheated steam has received much attention as an effective technique for drying purposes because it produces dried products with high quality attributes. Although currently there are a number of works reporting the development of a mathematical model of superheated steam drying, they do not use a numerical method to estimate the effective moisture diffusivity value (Deff value) of the product. The purposes of this work, therefore, were to develop a semi-empirical model for estimating the Deff value of pork, and for predicting the evolution of the moisture content and the center temperature of sliced pork during superheated steam drying. The model was based on mass and energy-balance equations and was divided into three periods: heating up, constant drying rate and falling drying rate period. It was solved using an explicit finite difference method and used a grid search method to estimate the Deff value of pork. The predicted results were compared with the experimental data of superheated steam drying of seasoned and unseasoned pork with slice thicknesses of 1 and 2 mm at a drying temperature of 140 °C. The comparison results showed that the developed model could estimate the ranges of the Deff value of pork fairly well (Deff = 3.311-12.471 × 10−10 m2/s for seasoned pork, and 4.200-15.056 × 10−10 m2/s for unseasoned pork) and could reasonably predict the evolution of the moisture content of the sliced pork. The predicted center temperature of the sliced pork was higher than the experimental data in the heating up period and in the first 5 min of the falling drying rate period, but it agreed well in the constant drying rate period and after the drying time of 10 min. Moreover, it was found that the slice thickness and the seasoning had an influence on the drying curves only in the constant drying rate and falling drying rate period.  相似文献

An investigation was conducted on impinging stream drying of moist paddy using hot air and superheated steam as the drying media. Drying experiments were divided into two parts: namely, one-pass and two-pass drying. The volumetric water evaporation rate, volumetric heat transfer coefficient, and specific energy consumption of the drying system at various conditions were assessed; in the case of superheated-steam drying, the effect of steam recycle was also assessed. The quality of dried paddy was evaluated in terms of color, head rice yield, and degree of starch gelatinization. In the case of one-pass drying, an increase in the drying temperature led to a significant increase in the volumetric water evaporation rate and volumetric heat transfer coefficient. On the other hand, in the case of two-pass drying, an increase in the drying temperature led to a significant decrease in the volumetric heat transfer coefficient; the volumetric water evaporation rate was not significantly affected, however. The specific energy consumption decreased with an increase in the drying temperature. At the same temperature, using superheated steam as the drying medium led to lower specific energy consumption; higher level of steam recycle also led to more energy conservation. The color of the dried paddy was not affected by the change in the drying temperature; superheated-steam-dried paddy was redder and more yellow than the hot-air-dried paddy. An increase in the drying temperature led to decreased percentage of head rice yield. Superheated-steam drying helped enhance the level of starch gelatinization in comparison with hot-air drying at the same temperature. Nevertheless, drying at the highest tested temperature led to a lower level of starch gelatinization.  相似文献

Fluidization technique was widely used to dry agriculture products because of its effectiveness in drying. To produce partial-parboiled rice using hot-air fluidization technique has been received increasing attention due to simplicity of operation. Thus, the purpose of this work was to investigate the effects of pre-steaming time and drying temperatures on qualities of partial-parboiled rice. The results revealed that head rice yield, pasting temperature and degree of gelatinization increased with an increase in pre-steaming time whereas white belly decreased. The percentage of water uptake of pre-steamed rice decreased with an increase in drying temperature while the percentage of solid loss and stickiness were not affected. The hardness of pre-steamed rice was higher than that of reference rice and it increased with an increase in drying temperature. To obtain the suitable conditions for producing partially-parboiled rice using hot-air fluidization technique, paddy was soaked at temperature of 80 °C for 5 h and then it was blown with saturated steam temperature of 102 °C for 70 s (pre-steaming). After that it was dried using fluidization technique at hot-air temperature of 140 °C for 2 min and then it was tempered for 30 min; furthermore, it was ventilated at ambient air temperature until the final moisture content was approximately 14–16% d.b.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline nickel and copper-substituted zinc aluminate spinel powders (NixZn1−xAl2O4 and CuxZn1−xAl2O4) with different additional ion concentrations (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) were successfully synthesized by the sol-gel auto combustion method using diethanolamine (DEA) as a fuel. The structures, chemical bonds, morphologies, composition, surface area, and optical properties including the magnetic behavior of the obtained samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method, UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). All characterization results confirmed that a single-phase spinel structure was obtained for all calcined aluminate powders with various crystallite sizes and lattice constants. The band gap energy (Eg) of all modified aluminates is in the range of 2.99-3.15 eV, which was found to be much lower than that of the pure sample (5.60 eV). These results indicate that the Ni2+ and Cu2+-substituted ZnAl2O4 samples could be effectively photoexcited by both the ultraviolet and visible light. Evaluation of the samples to determine the photocatalytic activity was carried out through investigation of the way the four main pollutant types decompose when irradiated by sunlight. These pollutants were rhodamine B (RhB), methylene blue (MB), methyl orange (MO), and methyl red (MR). For all optimum samples of organic dyes, the efficiency of photocatalytic degradation achieved 96% by the end of 150 min. Furthermore, each of the modified photocatalysts could be reused and showed a high degree of stability. According to magnetic measurements, the S-shaped curve of ferrimagnetism can arise in those samples with the optimum concentration, although pure ZnAl2O4 exhibits diamagnetic properties. In comparison to pure ZnAl2O4, the modified samples exhibit high enhancement in the remanent magnetization (Mr), which indicates that it is easy to recover those magnetic photocatalyst through the use of an external magnetic field application. These findings therefore serve as a strong indication that ZnAl2O4 powders substituted by both Ni2+ and Cu2+ may offer the capability to serve in environmentally beneficial harvesting of solar energy.  相似文献

The fluidised bed drying characteristics of soybeans at high temperatures (110-140 degrees C) and moisture contents, 31-49% dry basis, were modelled using drying equations from the literature. Air speeds of 2.4-4.1 m/s and bed depths from 10 to 15 cm were used. The minimum fluidised bed velocity was 1.9 m/s. From a quality point of view, fluidised bed drying was found to reduce the level of urease activity which is an indirect measure of trypsin inhibitor, with 120 degrees C being the minimum required to reduce the urease activity to an acceptable level. Increased air temperatures caused increased cracking and breakage, with temperatures below 140 degrees C giving an acceptable level for the animal feed industry in Thailand. The protein level was not significantly reduced in this temperature range. The drying rate equations and quality models were then combined to develop optimum strategies for fluidised bed drying, based on quality criteria, drying capacity, energy consumption and drying cost. The results showed that from 33.3% dry basis, soybean should not be dried below 23.5% dry basis in the fluidised bed dryer, to avoid excessive grain cracking. The optimum conditions for minimum cost, minimum energy and maximum capacity coincided at a drying temperature of 140 degrees C, bed depth of 18 cm, air velocity of 2.9 m/s and fraction of air recirculated of 0.9. These conditions resulted in 27% cracking, 1.7% breakage and an energy consumption of 6.8 MJ/kg water evaporated.  相似文献

A three phase fluidized bed reactor was used to investigate the combined effect of adsorption and oxidation for phenolic wastewater treatment.Aqueous solutions containing 10 mg·L 1of phenol and ozone were continuously fed co-currently as upward flow into the reactor at constant flow rate of 2 and 1 L·min1,respectively.The phenolic treatment results in seven cases were compared:(a)O3 only,(b)fresh granular activated carbon(GAC),(c) 1st reused GAC,(d)2nd reused GAC,(e)fresh GAC enhanced with O3,(f)1st reused GAC enhanced with O3,and (g)2nd reused GAC enhanced with O3.The phenolic wastewater was re-circulated through the reactor and its concentration was measured with respect to time.The experimental results revealed that the phenolic degradation using GAC enhanced with O3 provided the best result.The effect of adsorption by activated carbon was stronger than the effect of oxidation by ozone.Fresh GAC could adsorb phenol better than reused GAC.All cases of adsorption on GAC followed the Langmuir isotherm and displayed pseudo second order adsorption kinetics.Finally,a differential equation for the fluidized bed reactor model was used to describe the phenol concentration with respect to time for GAC enhanced with O3.The calculated results agree reasonably well with the experimental results.  相似文献

During the first process, a fluidized-bed dryer was used to reduce the moisture content of paddy down to 19.5 % dry-basis within 3 minutes. Then the paddy was tempered for 30 minutes. Finally, it was cooled by ambient air (temperature and relative humidity of 30 °C and 55-60% respectively) with air velocity of 0.15 m/s for 20 minutes. Quality of paddy in terms of head rice yield and whiteness was acceptable.  相似文献

In this work, nanocrystalline M–Zn ferrites (M=Ni; Mn; Cu) with compositions of M1?xZnxFe2O4 (x=0.0, 0.2 and 0.4) were synthesized from metal nitrate precursors by rapid the sol–gel combustion method using diethanolamine (DEA) as the fuel. As-synthesized powders were calcined at 1000 °C for 4 h. The crystal structures and morphologies of these compounds were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), respectively. The chemical interaction of ferrite powders was investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The magnetic properties of after-calcined nanoparticles were measured at room temperature using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The single phase spinel cubic structure formation is confirmed by XRD and FTIR results. Meanwhile FE-SEM micrographs show the appearance of both undoped and Zn-doped ferrite ceramic samples. In addition, the VSM analyses indicate that the Zn content has a significant influence on the magnetic properties such as saturation magnetization (Ms) and coercivity (Hc).  相似文献
