Suspension cultures of tobacco cells were studied using airlift and rotary-drum bioreactors. The effect of initial concentrations of a major substrate, sucrose, on the growth and production of a secondary metabolite, phenolic compounds, was investigated. The dry weights and total concentrations of the phenolic compounds increased with the initial sucrose concentration in both bioreactors. Both bioreactors were found to have the same tendency for the effect of initial sucrose concentration. The structured model, presented previously was modified by considering that sucrose was hydrolyzed to glucose and fructose by an enzymatic reaction. The previous and the new models were applied to the above two sets of experimental data obtained with two bioreactors, independently. The hydrolysis of sucrose was elucidated to contribute slightly to the overall kinetics of growth and secondary metabolite production in these cultures. Furthermore, the levels of shear damage in each bioreactor were quantitatively compared based on the death rate constant, ki, which is one of the model constants.  相似文献

The ability of pulsed laser irradiations to cause damage on the biofouling organisms is recently being investigated. If this technique is employed in industries such as power generation wherein a large quantity of water is being used for the cooling purpose, many organisms other than the targeted would get affected. In this study, we have investigated the damage caused by the pulsed laser irradiations from an Nd:YAG laser (fluence 0.1J/cm(2)) for varying durations such as 2, 5, 10, 30, 60 and 300 s on two marine diatom species namely Skeletonema costatum and Chaetoceros gracilis. Upon exposure to low power laser irradiations, these diatom species showed mortalities between 52.6+/-9.3% to 97.7+/-3.1% in the case of S. costatum and 57.8+/-2.5% to 98.9+/-0.6% in the case of C. gracilis for 2 and 300 s of irradiations, respectively. The mortality increased with the increase in the duration of laser irradiation. The estimation of the chlorophyll a concentration in the irradiated samples showed a considerable reduction varying between 9.8% and 57% in C. gracilis and 3% and 70.3% in S. costatum for 2 and 300 s of irradiations, respectively. The laser-survived cells grew as the non-irradiated (control) samples. C. gracilis frustules were broken by the laser whilst, the cell materials were drained out of the frustules in the case of S. costatum. The study therefore showed that the low power pulsed laser irradiations could cause significant damage on the two species of planktonic diatoms.  相似文献

A new method for fabricating plastic spherical microlenses was developed, which allowed self-alignment of lenses and self-organized formation of a spherical shape. First a low-surface-energy fluoropolymer thin film was deposited and patterned as a stencil. Then photosensitive phenol resin was patterned on it as the lens material. Finally the resin was annealed in an oil bath to form a sphere. The molten phenol resin spontaneously formed a sphere and positioned itself in the center of the fluoropolymer ring pattern as a result of the difference of surface free energy and the equivalently zero-gravity condition in the oil bath. When a light-emitting-diode printer head was loaded with spherical microlenses, its optical output increased by 1 order of magnitude.  相似文献

Novel poly(2-(3-sulfo)benzoyl-1,4-phenylene)-block-poly(arylene ether sulfone) copolymers (PSP-b-PAESs) were successfully synthesized by Ni(0)-catalyzed copolymerization of 2,5-dichloro-3′-sulfo-benzophenone (DCSB) and chlorobenzophenone-endcapped oligo(arylene ether sulfone). Their physical property, morphology and polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) performance were investigated compared to those of the DCSB-based random copolymers and Nafion112. PSP-b-PAES with a measured ion exchange capacity (IEC) of 1.82 meq g?1, of which the hydrophilic/hydrophobic block lengths were evaluated as 17/8.4, showed the relatively small number of water molecules sorbed per sulfonic acid group (λ = 15) in water and the anisotropic membrane swelling with 2.4 times larger through-plane swelling than in-plane one, whereas it showed the almost isotropic proton conductivity. The PSP-b-PAES exhibited a microphase-separated structure composed of hydrophobic and hydrophilic domains, whereas the random copolymers exhibited a homogenous morphology. The PSP-b-PAES had the larger proton conductivity than the random copolymer with an IEC of 2.01 meq g?1, especially under the low relative humidities. Even at a low humidification of 17% RH at 90 °C and 0.2 MPa, the PSP-b-PAES exhibited the high PEFC performance; namely, cell voltage of 0.69 V at load current density of 0.5 A cm?2 and maximum output of 0.73 W cm?2, which were much higher than those at 30% RH for the random copolymer (0.65 V and 0.51 W cm?2) and Nafion112 (0.70 V and 0.61 W cm?2). The PSP-b-PAES showed the fairly high durability of 750 h under PEFC operation at 90 °C in spite of the relatively low molecular weight. PSP-b-PAESs have the high potential as polymer electrolyte membrane for PEFC applications.  相似文献

The blood pressures of 2,526 children aged between 1 and 14 years were measured in their home environments in rural, semi-urban and urban communities in Ilorin. Blood pressure increased with age, but there was no significant difference between the communities. Girls had higher blood pressures than boys between the ages of 9 and 13 years, in the semi-urban and rural communities. The prevalence of high blood pressure in the urban community (9.5%) was higher, though not significantly so, than the rural community (6.3%). It is concluded that the prevalence of paediatric high blood pressure in the African is higher than previously reported.  相似文献

This paper describes the contact situation between the die and the lubricant pre-coated steel sheet in the press-forming by using FEM simulation. The FEM simulation is carried out by supposing that the lubricant pre-coated steel sheet consists of the lubrication layer and thick galvanized layer. Both the lubrication layer and galvanized layer are assumed as rigid–plastic material. The variations in the contact situation between the die and the lubricant pre-coated steel sheet are investigated by changing the friction coefficient between the die and lubrication layer, the thickness and hardness of lubrication layer, the velocity ratio of the relative sliding velocity to pressing velocity, etc. The simulated results show that the contact area ratio is influenced largely by the average contact pressure, the velocity ratio, the thickness of lubrication layer, and friction coefficient.  相似文献

We prepare an all solid-state, liquid-free, polymer electrolyte (ASPE) from a lithium salt and a graft copolymer consisting of a polyimide main chain and poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate side chains using atom transfer radical polymerization method. The ionic conductivity of ASPEs increases with increasing the side chain length. The ionic conductivity of the ASPE whose POEM content = 60 wt% shows 6.5 × 10−6 S/cm at 25 °C. The ASPEs having shorter average distance between side chains and/or shorter side chain length show higher mechanical strength. The tensile strength of the ASPEs is more than 10 MPa and about 20 times higher than that of the ASPEs in the previous study [Electrochim. Acta, 50 (1998) 3832]; hence, the ASPEs have sufficiently high mechanical strength for a polymer electrolyte of lithium secondary batteries.  相似文献

We propose an all solid-state (liquid free) polymer electrolyte (SPE) prepared from a hyper-branched graft copolymer. The graft copolymer consisting of a poly(methyl methacrylate) main chain and poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate side chains was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization changing the average chain distance between side chains, side chain length and branched chain length of the proposed structure of the graft copolymer. The ionic conductivity of the SPEs increases with increasing the side chain length, branched chain length and/or average distance between the side chains. The ionic conductivity of the SPE prepared from POEM9 whose POEM content = 51 wt% shows 2 × 10−5 S/cm at 30 °C. The tensile strength of the SPEs decreases with increases the side chain length, branched chain length and/or average distance between the side chains. These results indicate that a SPE prepared from the hyper-branched graft copolymer has potential to be applied to an all-solid polymer electrolyte.  相似文献

Transparent conductive films (TCFs) are critical components of a myriad of technologies including flat panel displays, light-emitting diodes, and solar cells. Graphene-based TCFs have attracted a lot of attention because of their high electrical conductivity, transparency, and low cost. Carrier doping of graphene would potentially improve the properties of graphene-based TCFs for practical industrial applications. However, controlling the carrier type and concentration of dopants in graphene films is challenging, especially for the synthesis of p-type films. In this article, a new method for doping graphene using the conjugated organic molecule, tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ), is described. Notably, TCNQ is well known as a powerful electron accepter and is expected to favor electron transfer from graphene into TCNQ molecules, thereby leading to p-type doping of graphene films. Small amounts of TCNQ drastically improved the resistivity without degradation of optical transparency. Our carrier doping method based on charge transfer has a huge potential for graphene-based TCFs.  相似文献

An analytical method of ethephon in feeds by GC-FPD was developed. Ethephon was extracted with ethyl acetate-hydrochloric acid (100 : 1) from feed samples. The extract was treated with added trimethylsilyldiazomethane in acetone-acetic acid (99 : 1) and this methylation procedure was repeated three times. Methylated ethephon was cleaned up on a graphitized carbon mini-column and a silicagel mini-column, and determined by GC-FPD. A method performance study in 7 laboratories was conducted with three kinds of samples spiked with ethephon at 10 mg/kg, 1 mg/kg and 0.5 mg/kg. The recovery of ethephon ranged from 81.8% to 90.8% (the reproducibility standard deviation (RSDr) were within 11%) and HorRat values were 0.58 to 0.94. The limit of detection (S/N≧3) and the limit of quantitation (S/N≧10) of ethephon in samples except hay were 0.02 mg/kg and 0.05 mg/kg, respectively. In the case of hay, the corresponding values were 0.2 mg/kg and 0.5 mg/kg, respectively.  相似文献
