Among the thermoplastic elastomers that play important roles in the polymer industry due to their superior properties, styrene-based species and polyurethane block copolymers are of great interest. Poly(styrene-ethylene-butadiene-styrene) (SEBS) as a triblock copolymer seems to have the potential to meet many demands in different applications due to various industrial requirements where durability, biocompatibility, breaking elongation, and interfacial adhesion are important. In this study, the SEBS triblock copolymer was functionalized with natural (Satureja hortensis, SH) and synthetic (nanopowder, TiO2) agents to obtain composite nanofibers by electrospinning and electrospraying methods for use in biomedical and water filtration applications. The results were compared with thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) composite nanofibers, which are commonly used in these fields. Here, functionalized SEBS nanofibers exhibited antibacterial effect while at the same time improving cell viability. In addition, because of successful water filtration by using the SEBS composite nanofibers, the material may have a good potential to be used comparably to TPU for the application.  相似文献

Schizo-obsessive disorder is characterized by the clinical syndrome in which comorbid obsessive–compulsive disorder accompanies schizophrenia. A substantial number of studies have investigated the neuropsychological and clinical differences between schizophrenia and schizo-obsessive disorder. However, the neurostructural differences between these two groups have not been adequately investigated. The aim of this study was to explore gray matter differences between schizophrenia and schizo-obsessive patients using voxel-based morphometry and support vector machines combined with feature selection algorithm. Twenty-three schizophrenia and 23 schizo-obsessive patients matched by age, gender and handedness were recruited. Clinical assessments were completed in addition to high-resolution structural MRI scanning. Group differences were investigated using contrast maps, and significant regions were subjected to a feature selection and support vector machine hybrid model. In addition, voxel-of-interest values for the commonly shared brain areas between schizophrenia and OCD reported in previous meta-analyses were also used as inputs in this step. The results showed that schizo-obsessive patients had greater gray matter densities in paracentral areas (including supplementary motor area) and middle cingulate gyrus than schizophrenia patients. These brain areas together with the fronto-subcortical areas could successfully discriminate two groups with an accuracy of 78.26 %. Our results provide the first neuroanatomical evidence that schizo-obsessive disorder and schizophrenia may be two distinct clinical entities. Based on these findings, considering schizo-obsessive disorder as a subtype of schizophrenia is discernible.

Approaches are developed for controlling the size effect in the absorption and photoluminescence properties of colloidal CdS and Zn0.5Cd0.5S quantum dots (QDs) in a gelatin matrix and thioglycolic acid. We analyze spectroscopic manifestations of dark Ostwald ripening and size-selective photoetching and demonstrate that the illumination of molten colloidal CdS and Zn0.5Cd0.5S QD solutions at a wavelength lying at the optical absorption edge in the presence of hydrogen peroxide as a catalyst for photoetching leads to a blue shift of the optical absorption and photoluminescence spectra of the QDs. Analysis of TEM images of QD samples leads us to conclude that photoetching reduces the average QD size as a consequence of the photodissolution of the CdS and Zn0.5Cd0.5S compounds. We demonstrate that, by contrast, heat treatment of the synthesized CdS and Zn0.5Cd0.5S QD sols at a temperature between 75 and 90°C leads to an increase in nanocrystal size through recrystallization, which shows up as a redshift of the optical absorption and photoluminescence spectra of the corresponding samples.  相似文献

Hydrogen production through hydrolysis of sodium borohydride (NaBH4) by using metal catalysts is promising for fuel cell applications. Nickel (Ni) and its alloys are favorable due to their high catalytic activity, relatively low cost and availability. In present study, the effects of temperature, pH, reduction rate and reducing agent concentration, which significantly affect the catalyst performance, were investigated using the response surface methodology (RSM). A mathematical model was derived according to results which were obtained from four-level orthogonal Taguchi L16 (44) experimental design used for the optimization of multiple parameters in the process. From the RSM analyses, that compatible with the predicted experimental results, maximum hydrogen generation rate (HGR) 49.81 L min?1 gcat?1 was obtained temperature of 278.12 K, pH of 5.52, reducing agent concentration of 85.96 NaBH4.water?1 and reduction rate of 6.82 mL min?1. Analysis of variance reveals that both pH and rate of reduction have significant effect than the temperature on the HGR.  相似文献
