To develop new materials for extrusion additive manufacturing (AM) systems, a fundamental understanding of rheological properties is essential to correlate the effect of processing on material structure and its properties. In this work, the rheological properties of five different grades of neat and carbon fiber (CF)-reinforced poly(ether ketone ketone) are reported. Rheological properties are essential to understand the effect of reinforcing fibers and AM process parameters such as time, temperature, environment, and shear rate on flow behavior during processing. Small-amplitude oscillatory shear tests and steady shear tests indicated neat grades to exhibit less increase in viscosity over time when processed in air than the CF-filled grades. The filled grades showed greater shear thinning and lower sensitivity to temperature. Overall, this rheological analysis provides a broad framework for determining appropriate processing conditions for extrusion deposition AM of such high-temperature polymer systems.  相似文献

High-efficiency video coding is the latest standardization effort of the International Organization for Standardization and the International Telecommunication Union. This new standard adopts an exhaustive algorithm of decision based on a recursive quad-tree structured coding unit, prediction unit, and transform unit. Consequently, an important coding efficiency may be achieved. However, a significant computational complexity is resulted. To speed up the encoding process, efficient algorithms based on fast mode decision and optimized motion estimation were adopted in this paper. The aim was to reduce the complexity of the motion estimation algorithm by modifying its search pattern. Then, it was combined with a new fast mode decision algorithm to further improve the coding efficiency. Experimental results show a significant speedup in terms of encoding time and bit-rate saving with tolerable quality degradation. In fact, the proposed algorithm permits a main reduction that can reach up to 75 % in encoding time. This improvement is accompanied with an average PSNR loss of 0.12 dB and a decrease by 0.5 % in terms of bit-rate.  相似文献

The novelty of this paper is the use of an efficient beam theory for bending, free vibration and buckling analysis of functionally graded material (FGM) beams on two-parameter elastic foundation. The present theory accounts for both shear deformation and thickness stretching effects by a parabolic variation of all displacements across the thickness, and satisfies the stress-free boundary conditions on the upper and lower surfaces of the beam without requiring any shear correction factor. Due to porosities, possibly occurring inside FGMs during fabrication, it is therefore necessary to consider the vibration, bending and buckling behaviors of beams having porosities in this work. The equation of motion for FGM beams is obtained through Hamilton’s principle. The closed form solutions are obtained by using Navier technique, and then fundamental frequencies are found by solving the results of eigenvalue problems. The validity of the present theory is investigated by comparing some of the present in literature. It can be concluded that the proposed theory is accurate and simple in solving the bending, free vibration and buckling behaviors of FGM sandwich beams.  相似文献

In this work, we investigate the structural behavior of a micro-electromechanical system arch microbeam actuated by electric fringing-fields where the electrodes are located at both side of the microbeam. In this particular configuration, the electrostatic actuating force is caused by the asymmetry of the fringing electric fields acting in a direction opposite to the relative deflection of the microbeam. A reduced-order model is derived for the considered system using the so-called Galerkin decomposition and assuming linear undamped mode shapes of a straight beam as basis functions in the decomposition process. A static analysis is performed to investigate the occurrence of any structural instability. The eigenvalue problem is then investigated to calculate the fundamental as well as higher natural frequencies variation of the microbeam with the applied DC load. A bifurcation analysis is then implemented to derive a criterion for whether symmetric or asymmetric bifurcation is occurring during the static structural instability. The results show elimination of the so-called pull-in instability in this kind of systems as compared to the regular case of parallel-plates electrostatic actuation. The bifurcation analysis shows that the arch goes for asymmetric bifurcation (symmetry breaking) with increase in initial elevation without the occurrence of symmetric bifurcation (snap-through) for any initial elevation.  相似文献

The generation of scientific information for improved understating of the physical dynamics of a lake is fundamental for guiding lake stakeholders and managers at the local level to implement best management practices and help design effective management strategies and policies at higher levels. Multitemporal bathymetric information on lakes is very important in hydrology and sediment studies to more clearly indicate environmental changes and to understand the effects of land processes on the hydrology of lakes. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to map bathymetric charts of Lake Hayq 1 in Ethiopia and to derive morphometric parameters, including depth, volume, area, width and length, and to plot curves illustrating the relationships between these parameters. The bathymetric survey was carried out using a combination of a SonarLite Portable Echo Sounder and Global Positioning System (GPS) to generate three‐dimensional (XYZ) hydrographic data. Surfer 8.01 and ArcGIS 9.3 software program were used for surface, gridding and morphometric analyses. Comparison of the results of this study with a previous study conducted in 1941 indicated the lake has experienced changes in depth and surface area. To reduce the negative impacts of human‐induced activities on the ecohydrology of the lake, and to maintain its ecological integrity, appropriate and integrated lake management practices must be adopted. This will necessitate policy formulation, active lake basin stakeholder involvement and implementation of basin‐wide lake management to ensure sustainable use of the lake and its basin resources.  相似文献

A numerical investigation is performed to analyze the coupled heat and mass transfer in porous media with a strong exothermic reaction. Similar problems have received great attention due to their relevance in a wide variety of engineering applications, such as heat pipes, drying technologies, nuclear reactors, catalytic reactors, environmentally clean utilization of energy, and many others. The momentum transfer in the porous substrate is modeled with the Darcy–Brinkman–Forchheimer law, while the temperature and concentration fields are obtained subsequently from the energy and diffusion equations. The considered configuration consists of a cylindrical duct where a first-order reaction is supposed to occur. The governing equations are solved by using the finite-volume method. The SIMPLER algorithm is applied to solve the momentum and continuity equations. The power-law scheme is used to model the interaction between convection and diffusion terms. The effect of the main governing parameters, such as permeability, aspect ratio, solid-to-fluid conductivity ratio, Reynolds number, Biot number, and the modified Frank-Kamenetskii number, are studied. The comparison with previously published work shows excellent agreement.  相似文献

This article presents the influence of temperature and influent substrate composition on the produced biogas volume in an anaerobic co‐digestion process. Four cases of anaerobic digestion were considered. Digestion of waste sludge only and anaerobic co‐digestion of sludge mixed with solid waste in mesophilic (T = 35 °C) and thermophilic (T = 55 °C) phases. The obtained results show that thermophilic co‐digestion gives the best results; although the temperature has an effect on biogas production, it remains however quite relative compared to the effect of solid waste. They confirm, surely, that the combined effect of temperature and solid waste improves considerably the biogas production rate (GPR). Changing conditions from mesophilic to thermophilic ones for waste sludge alone and for waste sludge mixed with solid waste results in an increase of the GPR from 0.18 to 0.39 m3/m3.d and from 0.29 to 0.96 m3/m3.d, respectively. Salmonella serovars are increasing in importance as significant pathogens of both human and animals. Although water and wastewater are treated to eliminate pathogenic microorganisms, they still play an important role in the transmission of Salmonella spp. In this study, bacteriophages infecting Salmonella spp. were isolated from wastewater and evaluated; for their potential to lyse environmental Salmonella strains in vitro at different MOIs and temperatures; and to control the wastewater bacterial community. Three distinct phages designated sww65, sww275, and sww297; as defined by plaque morphology, electron microscopy and host range; were obtained from wastewater. Challenge tests were performed at 37, and 30 °C with the infection of the Salmonella cultures with individual phage, a mixture of two phages, and cocktail of three phages at MOIs of 100, 102, and 104 PFU/CFU. At 30, and 37 °C, a cocktail of three phages reduced all of the Salmonella cultures tested. These results required a high multiplicity of infection. However, when infected with only one phage or a mixture of two phages at MOIs of 100 or 10 2 PFU/CFU, an emergence of bacterial resistance was observed. The dynamic monitoring of wastewater enterobacterial community was conducted using Enterobacterial Repetitive Intergenic Consensus-PCR (ERIC-PCR). The number of bands decreased gradually with the use of individual phage or phage cocktails. Moreover, the dynamic monitoring of Salmonella community during wastewater treatment was performed using PCR detection of virulence gene invA. The results correlated with the ERIC-PCR fingerprints, and suggested that Salmonella community was affected by the phage treatment. Indeed, in wastewater, bacteriophages are reducing Salmonella and other members of the Enterobacteriaceae. These results indicated that dynamic changes are closely related with the process of treatment. The introduction of wide host range bacteriophages in wastewater can have a potential impact on the dynamics of the microbial communities, manifested by the reduction or the elimination of microbial species.  相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of navigating in a provably safe manner a mobile robot with a limited field-of-view placed in a unknown dynamic environment. In such a situation, absolute motion safety (in the sense that no collision will ever take place whatever happens in the environment) is impossible to guarantee in general. It is therefore settled for a weaker level of motion safety dubbed passive motion safety: it guarantees that, if a collision takes place, the robot will be at rest.  相似文献
