The topical application of aspirin and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) may trigger the resolution of inflammation by inducing the biosynthesis of pro-resolvers such as lipoxins and resolvins while also avoiding the side effects of systemic aspirin intake. This study assessed the effect of enhanced granulation tissue (EGT) on periodontal tissue regeneration through the local application of aspirin and omega-3 PUFAs directly to granulation tissue (GT) during periodontal surgery. This randomized controlled experiment assesses 38 pockets in 19 patients. In every patient, two similar intrabony periodontal defects are treated with an open flap debridement, one with EGT (GT extracted, enhanced with aspirin and omega-3 PUFAs, and replaced) and the other with standard GT removal. Clinical attachment level (CAL) and probing pocket depth (PPD) are assessed at baseline and 2 and 6 months after surgery. The experimental protocol (EGT) results in a greater CAL gain as compared to that in the controls at 6 months (p < 0.05), while PPD reduction is not affected. The retained GT does not compromise healing. EGT is proposed as a promising, inexpensive, and simple method that may improve the outcome of periodontal regenerative treatment. However, the described protocol requires optimization and further assessment. Practical Applications : The biosynthesis of mediators including resolvins and lipoxins triggered by aspirin and omega-3 PUFAs promote the resolution of inflammation, eventually leading to faster regeneration of inflamed tissues. While granulation tissue is a necessary component in wound healing, enhancing granulation tissue with aspirin and omega-3 PUFAs results in CAL gain in the surgical treatment of periodontal defects. Retained granulation tissue does not compromise periodontal healing. The EGT strategy is an inexpensive and simple method that may improve the clinical outcomes of regenerative periodontal procedures.  相似文献

Abstract

Relative populations of four energy-lowest IPR (isolated-pentagon-rule) isomers of Eu@C86 are computed using the Gibbs energy based on characteristics from density functional theory calculations (M06-2X/3-21G?~?SDD entropy term, M06-2X/6-31G*~SDD or B2PLYP(D)/6-31G*~SDD energetics). The calculations confirm that the recently isolated Eu@C1(7)-C86 species is a major isomer in a relevant temperature region. Relationship to the empty C86 cages is discussed, too.  相似文献

The authors reanalyzed assessment center (AC) multitrait-multimethod (MTMM) matrices containing correlations among postexercise dimension ratings (PEDRs) reported by F. Lievens and J. M. Conway (2001). Unlike F. Lievens and J. M. Conway, who used a correlated dimension-correlated uniqueness model, we used a different set of confirmatory-factor-analysis-based models (1-dimension-correlated Exercise and 1-dimension-correlated uniqueness models) to estimate dimension and exercise variance components in AC PEDRs. Results of reanalyses suggest that, consistent with previous narrative reviews, exercise variance components dominate over dimension variance components after all. Polymer networks in which poly(propylene imine) dendrimers (Astramol?) are connected to each other by linear polytetrahydrofuran (polyTHF) segments, were prepared by two methods. The first method was a one‐step procedure in which bifunctionally living polyTHF, obtained by initiation of the THF polymerization with trifluoromethane sulfonic anhydride (triflic anhydride), was reacted with an amino‐dendrimer. This reaction was very fast but did not allow formation of the end products. The second method was a two‐step procedure. In a first step, living polyTHF, prepared with acryloyloxybutyl triflate as initiator, was grafted on an amino‐dendrimer, to form a star‐like, acrylate‐terminated polyTHF multi‐macromonomer with the dendrimer as core. In a second step, networks were obtained by Michael addition between the acrylate end‐groups and unreacted amino‐groups of the dendrimer. This cross‐linking reaction occurred spontaneously upon heating of the solution of the multi‐macromonomer with gelation times varying from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the temperature and the composition of the prepolymers. This paper presents a new approach to the blind deconvolution and superresolution problem of multiple degraded low-resolution frames of the original scene. We do not assume any prior information about the shape of degradation blurs. The proposed approach consists of building a regularized energy function and minimizing it with respect to the original image and blurs, where regularization is carried out in both the image and blur domains. The image regularization based on variational principles maintains stable performance under severe noise corruption. The blur regularization guarantees consistency of the solution by exploiting differences among the acquired low-resolution images. Several experiments on synthetic and real data illustrate the robustness and utilization of the proposed technique in real applications.  相似文献

C60F48 has been known to exist in two isomeric forms of D3 and S6 symmetries. However, the quantum-chemical calculations have not agreed on their stability order though a near-isoenergetic picture is otherwise always encountered. In order to clarify the situation, the entropy effects are evaluated for synthetic temperatures of about 500K. The entropy evaluations suggest that the D3 isomer should be more stable in the potential energy by 2.05-2.55 kcal/mol (to which term the ab initio data are closer than the semiempirical ones).  相似文献

Solubilisation and degradation of wheat gluten proteins by barley malt proteolytic enzymes (BMPE) was investigated with a model buffer system at pH 4.0 and pH 5.6, representing optimal pH for proteolysis and a pH value typical for beer brewing conditions respectively. Under the experimental conditions, incubation of commercial wheat gluten with BMPE solubilised 70% and 20% of the gluten proteins at pH 4.0 and pH 5.6 respectively. Gel permeation chromatography profiles and SDS‐PAGE showed that wheat gluten proteins were more degraded by BMPE at pH 4.0 than at pH 5.6. In a laboratory scale barley malt brewing experiment, proteins of worts, prepared with and without wheat gluten, were characterised. Results comparable to those in the model buffer system at pH 5.6 were obtained, which indicated that BMPE indeed solubilise wheat gluten during mashing, but that further degradation is rather limited under these conditions.  相似文献
