A new nondestructive method to estimate the volume fraction and homogeneity of tristructural isotropic(TRISO)-coated fuel particles in fuel compacts designed for high-temperature reactors has been developed using image analysis of conventional X-radiographs. The method is demonstrated on surrogate fuel compacts containing TRISO-coated particles with kernels made of zirconium dioxide. The methodology incorporates a correction for superimposed images of TRISO particles such that a single X-ray image obtained in any one random orientation is sufficient to characterize the fuel compact in terms of volume fraction and homogeneity. The method is based on the virtual segregation of images of each particle inside the compact with the aid of a calibration standard.  相似文献

Single-phase voltage source power converters (VSCs) under consideration are AC-DC current-controlled boost-type power converters with bidirectional power-handling capability. Equivalence between two series-connected two-level power converters and a single three-level power converter is considered here. In the wake of growing importance for quality and the need to reduce inspection costs simultaneously, the need for a scientific method of selecting an optimum inspection strategy for coordinate measuring machine (CMM) based inspection has become very important. The inspection error resulting from CMM inspection is greatly affected by the profile irregularities and the sampling strategy, which includes sample size, sampling methods, and algorithms used for form evaluation. This paper describes a system that can recommend an optimal inspection plan based on the needs of the user. A design of experiments (DOE) based approach is used to relate the inspection error with sampling strategies. Surface irregularities are included in the form of lobes formed on the profile. A new two-way model is proposed that works in both directions between the sampling strategy and the performance metrics. The results indicate that the number of lobes and the sampling method used have little impact on the inspection error, while the sample size and form evaluation algorithms have a significant influence. An inspection plan advisor is presented, which provides an inspection plan based on the estimated shape and acceptable measurement error.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Recipient antidonor cytotoxic T-cell activity has been associated with graft loss and acute rejection in renal allograft recipients. The role of immunologic mechanisms in the development of chronic graft rejection is controversial. We analyzed all living related renal transplants performed at Children's Hospital (Boston, MA) from 1983 to 1995 to assess whether cell-mediated cytotoxicity, determined in vitro and measured before transplantation, was predictive of chronic rejection. METHODS: Eighty-three patients were studied retrospectively. Fifty-seven patients with one haplotype-matched renal transplants from living related donors were studied to determine the association between cell-mediated lympholysis (CML) level, acute rejection, chronic rejection, and graft failure. Acute rejection was defined by the decision to treat. Chronic rejection was defined by histology and/or the absolute serum creatinine value using an increasing serum creatinine level >1.0 mg/dl for children less than 3, a creatinine level >1.5 mg/dl for children between 3 and 10 years of age, and a creatinine level >2.0 mg/dl for children above 10 years of age. Return to dialysis or retransplantation was considered graft failure. RESULTS: Of the 57 haploidentical patients, there were 33 males and 24 females. The mean age at transplant was 11.1 years (SD=6.7). Twelve patients developed chronic rejection, 24 patients developed acute rejection, and 7 patients had graft failure. Pretransplant cytotoxic T lymphocyte activity was associated with chronic rejection (P=0.001) and graft failure (P=0.013) but only marginally with acute rejection (P=0.058). Controlling for age and sex, Cox's proportional hazards model revealed that CML level was predictive of time to chronic rejection (P<0.01) but not acute rejection (P=0.11). It was estimated that every 1-unit increase in CML level raises the monthly risk of chronic rejection by 7%. Ten children received HLA-identical kidneys from their siblings. There were no episodes of chronic rejection after 5 years. Two patients with high CML levels had episodes of acute rejection; both patients responded to treatment. CONCLUSION: Our data demonstrate an association between pretransplant cell-mediated cytotoxicity and the occurrence of chronic rejection in living related one-haploidentical renal transplants in pediatric patients.  相似文献

A meta-analysis that combined 33 correlations from 17 studies found a corrected average correlation of .330 between absence and turnover. The type of absence measure did not moderate the covariation between absence and turnover, but industry type and study duration did act as moderators. The temperature dependence of the viscosity of the undercooled melts exhibits an important role in the study of nucleation, crystal growth and the glass-forming ability of materials. Several attempts have been made to study the viscous behaviour of the glass-forming melts and these investigations are mainly based on free volume theory as well as on the configurational entropy model. In the present investigation, an attempt has been made to correlate the thermodynamic parameters with the viscosity of the glass-forming melts and to study the temperature dependence of the viscosity of undercooled liquids on the basis of the free volume theory as well as on the basis of the configurational entropy model of Adam and Gibbs. The entire study is confined on the expression for thermodynamic parameters reported by the authors recently. The expression obtained has been successfully applied to study the temperature dependence of the viscosity of the metallic, molecular and oxide glass-forming liquids.  相似文献

Experiments were performed on the superplastic Zn-22% Al eutectoid alloy to determine the contribution of grain boundary sliding at both low (35%) and high (235%) elongations. The tests were conducted at two different strain rates in the superplastic Region II, and the results show that, within the accuracy of the measurements, there is a large sliding contribution at both elongations. By taking detailed measurements of both the magnitude of the sliding offset and the type of interface, it is shown that the average offsets are generally a maximum at the Zn-Zn boundaries, there is less sliding at the Zn-Al interfaces, and the offsets are a minimum at the Al-Al boundaries. In addition, the distributions of the magnitudes of the sliding offsets are similar at both the low and high elongations. It is concluded that grain boundary sliding is an important deformation process in the superplastic Region II and that it remains important even when the elongation is very high. The nature of the results indicates also that experimental observations of the deformation behaviour in superplastic materials at low elongations (up to 50%) provide meaningful information on the behaviour at much higher (superplastic) elongations.On leave from Mechanical Engineering Department, Nanjing Aeronautical Institute, Nanjing, Jiang-su 210002, People's Republic of China.  相似文献

The creep properties of a commercial, single phase aIurnina have been determined in the temperature range of 1623 to 1723 K. The stress exponent,n, in the relationship n was determined to be 1.9 and the true activation energy was found to be 635 kJ mol–1. Normal primary stage creep transients were observed up to strains of 1%. At low stresses, steady-state conditions were not obtained due to the occurrence of concurrent grain growth. It is shown that the steady state creep results are consistent with the occurrence of an interface controlled diffusionaI creep mechanism.  相似文献
